Haha wow. So MSNBC and Fox cut off almost every minority speaker, and you guys don't see how that's a wrong? Really? Even if the reason is to shove advertisements in because "no one gives a shit about hearing these people talk" that's pretty fucking disgusting.
But hey, as long as Fox did it too right?

I don't think it invalidates this thread one bit
This thread is about MSNBC not Fox
Christ almighty, they weren't shown because they're minorities, it's because they're not "primetime" speakers. The likes of Haley/Santorum/Romney/Christie were the attractions of the night and got that coverage. There's nothing more to it. Every station, including PBS didn't bother showing everything. And if people wanted to watch it all, just tune to C-Span.
Pretty much. Here is a thread proof positive for all the doubters out there who deny a heavy liberal bias and troll effect here on GAF. A clear thread simply pointing out discrimination by a national news channel and the hive reacts by continuing to insult the GOP, the convention and completely ignore the point of the thread.
Its not even surprising but perhaps it takes political season for the lunacy to take stage for others to finally notice it.
Fox News, being the arm of the GOP that it is, is likely to show the speeches that are important at this convention, from people who are "important" in the party, so to speak. If these speeches didn't pass Fox's standards for notability when they practically receive their programming orders right from the party, how can you rage @ MSNBC for not showing the same speeches?I don't think it invalidates this thread one bit

Msnbc will probably cut out Rubio when he introduces Romney. Just cut right to Romney. Typical.

As a broadcaster, you make editorial decisions based on who is relevant, and you create segments around that.
But the reason wasn't to shove ads in there. They were doing other things. What exactly is the problem here? Should their speeches get aired only because they're minorities? How insulting would that be?
Covering minorities at the RNC is extremely important. Not only because of the general perception of the party's relationship with minority communities, but more importantly, for minorities to understand where representatives of their backgrounds stand on the issues.
Of course they're not as well known as some of their contemporaries. But that didn't stop these channels from airing speeches made by lesser known caucasian speakers. And if every lesser-known speaker was so easily shafted, where would Obama be without his big DNC speech moment?
All that's left to say is that if MSNBC actually aired those speeches, there would be a thread about Fox cutting them out, without any of the gross justifications being thrown around as they are now.
It's not MSNBC's job to try and do PR for the GOP.Covering minorities at the RNC is extremely important. Oh, Fox has done this already?

PBS is the only answer

This thread sucks. Who the hell started this thread?
I bought into the Drudge headlines and outrage from the right over MSNBC's treatment of the RNC only to find out even Fox News did the same thing. Embarassing.
Two lessons:
1. Don't post without verifying first.
2. Don't watch cable news if you expect actual coverage of the convention.
and 3. Mia Love is the next big thing - and 4. she's hot.

No way in fuck MSNBC is going to provide better GOP convention coverage than Fox. I couldn't even see them trying for that.

Lol liberal circle jerk in effect
Instead of commenting on the topic at hand, they proceed to attack the GOP (as if there isn't enough threads doing that)
Isn't she down like 18 points in a congressional race? Is she the next big thing at the PTA?
I watch MSNBC's coverage for counterpoints/discussion, i don't expect them to sacrifice ad time to show all the lesser known speakers like i don't expect Spike TV to air the Konami E3 press conference. Some other network can do that if they want, and like it's been said, Fox chose not to as well.
Heh. Admin. One day someone gonna accuse Neogaf of liberal bias with that kind of thread title change![]()
And there goes the thread title.

Did that ridiculously uninformed thread about the GOP boing a Puerto Rican woman get a title change? I'm going to guess not.
