I actually already finished the episode, because I had a boring Sunday where I read law shit. But it's a rad Sunday now, cuz I'm drinking and get to watch BDs on my sick setup.

Anyway, good to have the show back, but two things I wanna make a note of:

1) It's pronounced "chah-crah-nah." All short "a" sounds. The jxy is silent. It confuses everyone.

2) I already brought this up on Twitter, but seriously guys... Philosoma is the WORST. I hate that game more than I've hated just about anything, and I live a hate-filled existence, because I currently live in St. Louis. So I must've really hated it.

In either case, though, really enjoyed the episode.

GET OUT!!!! I love Philosoma, such a good shooter back in the day especially on a PSone as at the time of its release there wasn't too many quality shooters available.

I suppose you think Axelay is shit too. :(

Nah, dude. Axelay is sweet. Or it was back in the day. Haven't played it in a long time.

But real talk, Philosoma, is honestly still pretty interesting as a historical piece, for precisely the reason you mentioned. It was basically Sony's vision of what a classic (or I guess... still contemporary) genre could be with 3D hardware. I really don't think it's a very exciting game, just because it can feel so slow at times, but I've always been more about the bullet hell nonsense anyway.

So I kinda take back what I said, Ryouga -- it's kind of a cool game, but not for the reasons you might expect.

I love that the sequel was a survival horror game too. lol

Lol, and that was a PS2 game, wasn't it? Were they honestly thinking that 6 years after Philosoma, people were going to be chomping at the bit to see the spellbinding continuation of a shmup storyline?

I love you, Sony.

You all were high all right, high on chemistry!

I've convinced you have like 200 secret episodes somewhere, no way the podcast should be this good. Steve's Miku talk and everyone's reaction... so good

Yeah it was, released in 2001 for the PS2 it was called Phase Paradox.
Well @yosp was right when he said that Sony doesn't let their IP died. lol
Expect Wipeout to come in ten years as rhythm game.

I won't go that far, 1/10 would suggest that the game was unplayerable and broke to the point it was impossible to finish. Now steel battalion on the 360 was a disaster zone of game worthy of a 1/10.

True, I guess overall I would give it an admirable 3/10 maybe. It truly is an abysmal action game compared to its peers.

What the hell are you smoking? Heavenly Sword is still one of the better Sony games. It easily ranks in my top ten list for PS3 games.

Absolutely not in mine. Everything that action games are about, Heavenly Sword fails to deliver.

Popped in the podcast, pulled out of my driveway and almost crashed into my neighbors trash can when I heard "sutefu-chan". Can you say, off to a good start?

Just short of 5 hours! Surely you could've recited Stein's Gate or something to carry you over the 5h mark. :) Listening to the second half~

I watched Oppai Volleyball after listening to the podcast. It was quite good for a Japanese movie, but lacked closure imo. Plus
she didn't show them :(
.

Haha, awesome. If you liked Ayase Haruka in that, she's really good in the Hotaru no Hikari drama.
You mean
she's not only teasing, but actually showing her Burst?
But to be honest, I don't really like her that much...

All in all, another awesome episode, TOO BAD WE HAD TO WAIT SO LONG FOR IT >:[
Kidding, keep up the good work. It helped me not to throw stuff at the window when I was cleaning my dorm room today for 3 hours.

You guys haven't seen each other personally before? Then how did this podcast get started?

Also about begrudging enjoyment of Miku, that's how it starts...

I believe this was addressed in the podcast a month or two back, but I don't feel like digging up old episodes. For Time Travelers, would it be a good game to self-teach myself Japanese? As that, I mean if I know my hiragana and katakana characters, would I be able to play through this game?

Not really, even though, as Elliot said on the podcast, there's furigana above all the kanji, if you don't know the grammar etc., it won't work so well. Understanding the words just isn't enough in my opinion. If you have a Japanese account on your Vita (if you're planning on picking up the Vita version, that is), you can download the demo. Don't know if there's one for the 3DS though.

Would it be possible for Eric to do a spin-off podcast in which he plays smooth jazz records? He's got one of those late-night DJ things going on.

You should be at about an intermediate level I think. As Keii noted, having the vocabulary learned is a start, but would not really be enough. There are a lot of things about the presentation of the game that do make it very approachable for those learning, but there is a LOT of the game that moves at a brisk pace and many decisions to be made where you aren't afforded the luxury of time to translate and comprehend. Just playing the demo, I can see where it can be easy to lose pace trying to follow it. Definitely try the Vita demo if you're able to. I was pleasantly surprised by the game and will probably pick it up soon since the localization of P4G won't be until November.

the Hatsune Miku x Steve megaton might be one of the best moments in gaming podcasts.

I'm still not sure that really happened.

My phone was ringing last night with Mehdi reacting to the megaton in real time. Hahaha.

The smartphone app Line is both a blessing and curse.
