RedSunGamer - Japanese Gaming Life

The fact that Cheesemeister bought Senran is more shocking to me than Steven buying Miku. I totally understand where Steven is coming from and why he can like Project Diva for what it is. I also love rhythm games and am willing to overlook the awfulness that is Miku.
And while I personally find Senran somewhat appealing I just would have never expected Cheesemeister to be the type that buys a game like that . lol

he made the @DatWaifu twitter account. he's such a perv. :D

Not really, even though, as Elliot said on the podcast, there's furigana above all the kanji, if you don't know the grammar etc., it won't work so well. Understanding the words just isn't enough in my opinion. If you have a Japanese account on your Vita (if you're planning on picking up the Vita version, that is), you can download the demo. Don't know if there's one for the 3DS though.

You should be at about an intermediate level I think. As Keii noted, having the vocabulary learned is a start, but would not really be enough. There are a lot of things about the presentation of the game that do make it very approachable for those learning, but there is a LOT of the game that moves at a brisk pace and many decisions to be made where you aren't afforded the luxury of time to translate and comprehend. Just playing the demo, I can see where it can be easy to lose pace trying to follow it. Definitely try the Vita demo if you're able to. I was pleasantly surprised by the game and will probably pick it up soon since the localization of P4G won't be until November.

I appreciate the answers. I'll keep studying Japanese, and try out the demo this summer when I have a better grasp of the grammar and more words.

Isn't Martin a Precure fan by necessity? lol

I HAVE to like Precure, my daughter adores it! Hell I've even taken my daughter to the theatre to watch the latest Precure movie.
She's got books, toys, games even precure PJ's.

My wife is the real hater and she can't stand it and gets royally pissed when buy any precure for my daughter. lol

Haha, over in the anime thread a few people are watching it and I'm amazed at how much plastic crap they seem to be trying to push in the show. I have to imagine that each time the characters "power up", you have to buy more stuff for your daughter?

Actually, come to think of it, I do have a question about Precure since you've been to the movies - do they hand out glow sticks so that people can wave them when the characters in the movie ask for help? lol

Thats my biggest fear when my daughter watches Precure is that she'll want all the plastic crap she see's but to be honest she's really good and never asks for anything, she just tells me that she likes something and leaves it at that.

I've seen 2 precure movies with my daughter and so far the theatre hasn't issued us with any glow sticks to wave around whilst watching the movie but that would be awesome, at least that would make me laugh instead of feeling totally awkward in a crowded theatre surrounded by 4 - 12 year old girls.

Ah, you're lucky then! I can't imagine how must it would cost to constantly upgrade the magic wands or whatever. The Precure gear goes through more revisions than a Nintendo handheld console.

And, I can't remember which of the movies that I watched (hey, I was curious because I wanted to see what a massive team up of various characters in the same franchise would look like!) had this one part where all the mascot characters showed up and started waving around beams of light to help out the Precures. It just seemed like the perfect chance for audience participation anyway. lol

Precure has cool moments. I mean when the staff actually tries, it's like dbz action with magical girls. Sadly, it seems like there are less of that and it's more about selling toys now.

Indeed, Satoshi is quite a dick and definitely more so if you catch up to 21.

Started listening to episode 46, now I realize I have another five hour episode after this one. Oh god, too much of a good thing!

I did and indeed that is the truth.

Rage. RAGE!!!
Hahahahaha.

It's clearly Mayaka.
Well, I'm in camp Oreki's sister, as my avatar indicates.

I will admit, the videos I've seen of Heartcatch fights look pretty good. I always wonder if Precure turns girls into martial arts action fans. lol

Congratulations guys, awesome podcast, RSG dethroned 8-4 in my favourite podcast list :)

8-4 is alright, but I grew tired of the focus on western and mobile games. Also, there seems to be a lot of unnecessary profanity. It's not a huge deal, but it was frequent enough that I took note of it.

Finished off the marathoncast yesterday, fantastic as always. SO glad I started listening to you guys.

I was a bit surprised when you said you'd never all met up before, so I hope you all have a great time at TGS! ^_^

Also I have a bit of a weird question but don't have a Twitter account, could I ask it here or in an email or something?

RSG 48 will be recording tonight with @Steve_RedSunG @Cheesemeister3k @revenantkioku @mehdi_eff & myself @DJmizuhara.

Elliot's (@RyougaSaotome) off singing the Pokemon theme tune in some dudes car. You've gotta do what you've gotta do I guess. ;)

So, if you've got any questions get them in now.

Episode #48 is in the can, clocking in over 4 hours.

I should note that we also sang Captain Planet, Crossfire and a variety of other early 90's favorite jingles.

SO THERE.

Hi.

Mehdi is finally going to be on the podcast again?

Glad to hear Mehdi is going to be on the next show, about to start listening to 48, last one was great.
Thanks all for the kind words. I was actually on the secret episode 46.5 that never got released, where I tried to talk about MGS Ground Zeroes and other stuff (⌒-⌒; )
All the RSG crew (or almost) is gonna be together for TGS so I wouldn't be surprised we end up recording a 12h episode or something. Eric is not coming though, we're punishing him for having bad taste.

Honestly, I don't think Kyle will be back on the show he's got way too much stuff going on at the moment.
I'd love to have him back on the show but real life comes first, he knows the door is always open to him.

Of course, completely understandable. Would be great to have him back on one day though :)

Oh god, I haven't even started on episode 47 yet! My backlog is becoming too massive. :-(

Too many stellar Japanese-gaming podcasts!
