RedSunGamer - Japanese Gaming Life

I've never seen a cockroach in my whole life.
If I was in Japan and I would see one and that it would start fucking flying at me I would leave the country and burn it down on my way back home. I can't have disgusting insects assaulting me.

I don't live in Japan, but spiders have been creeping out of my ceiling vent lately. I was going to leave him be, but then he decided to drop down onto my desk at 3AM. Nope. Can't have that. He violated our personal space agreement.

My intelligence informs me that he was most likely a lone wolf, but there have been copycat incidents. Not as thorough, but their sentiments have been the same. Moral: fuck ceiling spiders.

I have most of my games packed away in preparation of moving house in a few weeks. The other day I went to flick through my boxed PS2 games and saw a huge fucking spider in there and, because I screamed like a girl and recoiled, am not sure where it is. So I may have a dead beast waiting for me when I unpack :(

Moral: Fuck spiders full stop.

My cousin once had a fairly big (for European standards) spider right next to his face as he turned around in his bed. The thing must have sat in between the bed frame and the wall for a while. He said it made very loud crunching noises when he crushed it.

He also didn't sleep in his room for the next two weeks.

Oh, and nice podcast, gentlemen.

I was about to go to bed. Now I'm not so sure :(

I think we can extend that to all spiders regardless of their location

DQ X sounds very interesting to me after listening to RSG, 8-4, and reading other impressions.

The WiiU version can likely/hopefully fix a lot of these more glaring issues (adding friends, keyboard ---as the gamepad becomes a keybaord, graphic and performance issues, etc.)

I can see myself playing this in the WiiU when/if it comes to the West so Im guessing 2014/2015 lol)

Oh wow, I had no idea you wrote for SciFi Japan, Elliot! I love that site. Also, yeah Garo was pretty brilliant. Nice to have a darker, more 'serious' Toku series.

=)

It's where I got my start writing, actually. I don't do features as often as I used to, but I do a lot of translation for them now and I've been working on a 100+ page Ultraman movie guide translation for the last few months on and off.

Many of the things I own are black, so there's always this uncomfortable air of uncertainty with respect to spider death.

It has its place. You certainly don't want western style mayo on okonomiyaki or yakisoba.
That's true, j-mayo is usually more fluid and can be more easily dispersed. Although a fat, pun intended, glob of w-mayo on okonomiyaki or yakisoba would be pretty funny.

haha, crying stories

Martin is a mayo defender so he's my new best friend. altho I will have to say that Japanese mayo and American mayo taste completely different. CAINS mayo is the best. it's nothing like that Helmann's shit.

I'll mail him some Duke's. That'll fix this problem once and for all.

McRib slathered in Mayonaisse

I've come to the conclusion that Japanese chefs adapting foreign food turn into kids with access to food ingredients and toss in whatever not realizing they'll have to eat what comes out of the oven.

spiders are arachnids

BATS AREN'T BUGS!!!

DJmizuhara, I want Smile Precure impressions

Do not disappoint me

I'm not kidding

I do too! Would love to hear your daughter's impressions, or if she's too nervous, just ask her what she thought and then relay the info on the next show :)

Hi RSG and friends.

I am headed to Tokyo at the end of the year for a conference (East Asian Medical Students Conference, any gaffers coming along?). I was wondering what video game stores would be good to hit up? I am only planning on buying two or three PS3 games (Yakuza 5, Tales of Xillia 2) because they're so expensive but I'd still like to know which places I should visit and which ones I should avoid.

I know most of you don't live in Tokyo, but you'd still be more knowledgable than me!
Thanks! (In addition, how do I say "pre owned"?)

You'll probably get the best price in big chain stores like Bic Camera or Yodobashi camera.
As for the used ones, you can check Tsutaya, Geo and Traders (they're basically in every bigger part of Tokyo) from which Traders has the best prices.
It'd be a huge loss to not to go to Akihabara, so be sure to stop by. :)

Used games are called chuuko 中古, whilst the new ones are referred to as 新品.
I could have sworn they said they were taking questions over Twitter for an episode they recorded over the weekend.
They've did, but today Martin tweeted that the sound quality is awful and they might have to re-record. :(

Nooooooooooo. I hope someone tweeted about the WiiU. I wonder if there is any buzz or interest around the system in Japan. Between bundle pricing and PAX impressions the launch excitement bug is creeping up on me
