So the 2nd update on the Kotaku article makes sense:

If this is what's happening—and if it works—suddenly a LOT more people will be hearing about the Wii U regularly on Facebook.

Edit : I also got an e-mail about Need For Speed: Carbon chaning its name to ''Need for Speed'' on the same day, September 20th. And I received that e-mail an hour exactly after the Wii U one.
