Remember Me - Review Thread

Why do I get the feeling most people aren't even reading the IGN review?

I won't be reading the review with a quote like that. The score is negligible. I'm sure that's the score the guy thinks the game deserves so there's no point in talking about it, that quote though is laughable.

CVG - 7/10

Combat and platforming are the least interesting parts of Remember Me, and they're what you'll be doing most. Though Neo-Paris is unforgettable, your journey through it isn't.

✔ Memory Remixes play like Inception meets Ghost Trick
✔ Explores hot-button issues like surveillance and social media
✔ A visionary world you want to explore...
✖ ... but you'll rarely get the chance to
✖ Combat frustrates, even on easy

Well not going to make a big deal about the score, but given that they just thought the platforming was bland and combat was repetitive I`m surprised it got a 5.9, was expecting a 7.

Platforming looks fun IMO, combat looks stale though.

Already pre-ordered and will buy on release. Screw ign and their awful reviews.

Awful because the review doesn't validate your preconceptions or because you think IGN writers write objectively poor reviews? I imagine your post would have been missing the latter part had the game gotten 8-10.

So the IGN review is looking to be another classic, up there with the likes of Godhand and Samurai Warriors 3? Time to read!

Lol at the IGN review. "Good game, but they did not pay enough to get a good score."

Got the game pre-ordered. This is a game MS does not want me to buy, since on the Xbone I would not take a chance on it (since I cannot sell it on trademe (ebay) if I don't like it).

Kia ora!

Lack of exploration, dull combat and platforming are a real bummer. The memory remix mechanic seems like a neat idea, I wonder why they would only use it 4 times.

Guess I'll wait for a sale.

I kinda figured this would get "average" reviews.

It definitely looks interesting, but I have enough right now and was going to wait for a price drop anyway.

At least the Memory Remixes are getting a positive reaction, seeing as this was the part that got me to consider the game and Ghost Trick was an awesome game. Just a shame they barely happen.

Ugh, I just can't warrant spending $60 on a video game. I'll wait for the first price drop I see that brings it down to at least $50.

Low key, non moneyhatted EA or super innovative CoD game gets a low score from IGN? Shocking! But sad that it will actually influence people to not try it =(

I'm waiting for Destructoid and Giant Bomb. Their reviews are generally superior to the shit IGN puts out on a daily basis.
Edit: I can see this game bombing and being something I get free with playstation plus one day, which is kind of a shame. :(

The problems that IGN reviewer had with the game were in other reviews, and those problems were weighed differently when it came to scoring.

I'll have no problem trying this game when it drops in price. It still seems conceptually interesting.

Garnett Lee tweeted that he was loving it.

Really, his sentiments on Weekend Confirmed contrasted this, although he was not finished with it.

Low score from IGN = "No money hat AH HA what a shit site"

High Score from IGN = "Money hat AH HA what a shit site'

Readers and consumers should base their opinion on the reviews themselves and what they do critique and fail to critique. The Remember IGN review decently does that, yet some are being completely dismissive because of other IGN reviews being written poorly.

Here's another review from International Business Times

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/4...rememberme-review-dontnod-capcom-ps3-xbox.htm

Scores:
Gameplay: 7/10 - Functional but very familiar combat and limited interaction with the world around you is helped out by the combo customisation and the great Memory Remixing sequences.
Sound: 8/10 - The competent voice acting struggles against bad dialogue, but Olivier Deriviere's score is tremendous.
Graphics: 7/10 - Remember Me is a beautiful looking game no doubt, but it's all a facade and the pristine world never comes alive.
Writing: 4/10 - A real stumbling block. When Remember Me's plot isn't ticking the box of every character and plot structure cliche, the dialogue is clunky often gigglesome stuff.
Replay value: 6/10 - Remember Me is unashamedly and purposefully linear, but there are few optional areas to explore and hidden trinkets to pick up.
Overall: 7/10 - A perfectly solid, good looking action adventure that totally bungles the script but has a few smart ideas.

I like this review format, especially the separate, specific category for writing. Never really heard of International Business Times before. I'm gonna check out their reviews from now on.

Sounds like sale fodder. Definitely not the kind of game that warrants a $60 price tag.

With only 4 memory remixes in the entire game (apparently) that seems like such a missed opportunity.

And for such a creative locale, it's a shame that exploration isn't a focus.
