Remember Me - Review Thread

Sounds like it's getting the reception I thought it would, this game never looked like it was going to be a critical darling. Still, I've got my preorder and I'm willing to find out if I like it. Some of my favorite games are less than great and I can very much see this game becoming one of them.

That amazes me. That and other reviews as well. Apart from the memory thingy, I seem to be reading a Tomb Raider review.

not bad :) :

In Short: Plenty of smart ideas and some very attractive presentation, but none of the core gameplay elements work as well as they should and the game ends up sadly forgettable.

Pros: Gorgeous art design and music creates a pleasingly exotic atmosphere. Sympathetic lead character and the core ideas behind the story, memory remixes, and combat are sound.

check

Cons: The combat is repetitive and the enemies bland, the platforming is simplistic, and the memory remixes too few in number and too reliant on trial and error. Languid pacing.

ign.uk tomb raider review score: 9.1...

I was hoping that IGN review was an outlier. Even the other review scores aren't particularly great.

Will wait for GAF and podcast impressions before deciding to even get it on sale.

Reviews be damned- but I do want GAF's impressions.

The soundtrack clips have been astounding. And the Journal was really fun to search through.

I'm just worried about the limited interactivity when platforming, and combat taking place in enclosed arenas.

I want to play this soon- Wish the GMG deal had it lower!

Kind of a shame that the early reviews are mixed. I'm a sucker for Dystopian Fiction, so I might end up renting this game to, at least, try it out.

It might be one of those games where the fiction itself is worth a play through, even with a lot of combat that doesn't really add anything to the experience.

Well, i finished the game yesterday and it´s good. Not crazy good if i had to score it it would be a 7, maybe a solid 8 for the potential of the story on a sequel. I´m amazed by the soundtrack, it´s incredible.

The CvG review is the most accurate to my impressions of the game, agree 100%.

IGN review doesn't seem to justify a 5.9, seems like they really wanted to push it under a 6 to get a little attention, but whatever, doesn't really matter.

Game looks cool, but flawed. My plan hasn't really changed, will jump on it around the 30 dollar mark.

I will rent it or something. I refuse to buy games with poor gameplay and that seems to be the major knock on Remember Me. I was looking forward to it too. New IP, female lead, good idea, but alas it was poorly executed and turned out mediocre. Disappointed. I'll still give it a chance though.

Really enjoyed the game. Has some platforming issues and the combat can be wonky, and the voice acting at times is painful yet the world is beautiful, insanely interesting, well developed and yet still mysterious. Enjoyed the hell out of it and it was a good romp.
Then again there are plenty of 7-8 scores with those 5's...and some foreign scores that I think were 8-9 out of 10 in the other thread too.

You are now my gaming bro:)

I'm pretty confident New Tomb Raider is precisely what I don't want this to be like.

Everything I'm reading is making me think this is this year's Enslaved, which would be almost as bad but at least nice to look at and new.

The combat in this has to be better than Enslaved though... right?

This game looked interesting. Too bad it didn't live up to expectations. If I'm still interested, I'll get this when it's on sale.

Ouch.
Was hoping this would be better than it sounds like it turned out.

Or perhaps, it's to be expected.
It certainly sounded cool...and that seems to be all it achieves.

So cool game but shitty tedious combat?

When are publishers going to gain a shred of confidence and realize that it's okay if video game isn't filled with pew pew?

the videos of the combat made me lose interest in this one - it looked like some "market research" person stepped into the game and said "let's have the chick beat up lots of guys and have over the top moves! that will be sure to sell millions of copies! it worked for god of war!"

I preordered it for 25% off on GMG. These reviews bum me out a little but I want to see play the game for myself.

These reviews + just finished Telltale's Walking Dead game.

This day is really ending on a low note. =(

I wouldn't really call infinite a doritos hype train type of game, decent attempt at humor I guess.

Wasn't trying to be funny. Just trying to illustrate that it's easier for IGN/most outlets to rate games that are hyped higher than what they are worth. Infinite didn't deserve a 9 or 10 or whatever it got from most reviewers. Remember Me isn't hyped? Well, it earns a real score then. Meanwhile the luster fades on B:I and most every other 10/10 game.

Have it pre-ordered but I'm not expecting any wonders, around a 7. I like the setting so that's something I guess.

For the $37.50 I paid for it on GMG, I'd say this is definitely gonna be worth it even with some slightly wonky gameplay here and there.

Can't wait still!
