Repeating old arguments we've all heard before, Thanos is pronounced "Berenstein"

Gif is pronounced Jif.

The argument "but it stands for graphical!" holds no water when the P in JPEG stands for Photographic and no one pronounces it Jpheg.

The creator is always right.

I say jif. But ever since I started watching Gintama, being aquainted with the name "Gin" has made me switch back and forth between gif and jif.

Fun fact, gib, as in "ludicrous gibs" is pronounced "jibs" as it's short for giblets.

As for "gif" or "jif", well. War never changes.

The creator is always right.

Well this is just nonsense in any context.

It's even more nonsense when the creator is trying to push shitty puns. Hard G till the day I die.

Chris Hardwick already settled this shit.

Hardwick finally using his powers for good.

It absolutely doesn't matter what the creator wants. If I name my son 'Jordon' but I spell it 'Gordon', he'll be spending the the rest of his life constantly saying, "because my Dad's a prick, that's why."

Hard g because it doesn't sound stupid and was how almost everyone said it until Wilhite went and ruined everything.

GIF is an abbreviation, so the comparison to words such as Giraffe or Gin doesn't apply. And seeing as the first letter in that abbreviation stands for 'Graphics', I'mma say it with a hard G.

But Graphics...

Acronyms often don't use the same pronunciation as the separate words use.

In fact they rarely do.

That is not anywhere close to a rule.

Think up some acronyms and count how many use the pronunciation of the separate words.

Uhmm, Graphics is pronounced "Ja" - "Grip" - "ics" in the original language, so the correct pronounciation is Jif.

Origin of the word;

1630-40; < Latin jgraphicus of painting or drawing < Greek jgraphikós able to draw or paint, equivalent to jgráph (ein) to draw, write + -ikos -ic; cognate with carve

So you see, the word Graphics is supposed to be spelled with J.

Giraffe
Gin
Creator says jif

So triple fuck anyone who says otherwise, it's jif.

You've gone this far. Now, fully embrace your madness and pronounce every 'Gi' as a J.

"I have a 750 jigabyte hard drive."
"I'm looking to buy her a birthday jift."
"Waggle is just a jimmick."
"Why yes, I do like jirls."
