Report: THQ's legacy IPs to be sold off later this month

Monster Games for Stuntman maybe? Paradigm worked on the series as they did with Pilotwings 64, but they didn't create it did they? What about Juiced for Monster Games?

Or Firebrand for either? :P

de Blob to me works with Ubisoft, fits their catalog.

the creator of Stuntman was Reflections Interactive (Driver).

yeah I think Monster Games will be good fit for Juiced.

Who would work for Destroy All Humans?

Rockstar...

think about it.... Destroy All Humans x Body Harvest.

Seeing that, probably, so many IP's are gonna go to the trash bin is kinda sad or that they'll end in some company and kept forever on a drawer...I don't know which is more sad...

Going into the bin is more sad. Since it means nobody cared for it.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see how that auction goes. Yesterday/Today's auction was certainly surprising.

What if we tweet to kamiya what Darksiders is? may he like the idea

What's that? RT @Nik0ran: another question, are PG considering on purchasing the Darksiders IP?

Doubt it.

Oh dear god, what is the story behind this? I'm frightened and yet must learn more...

Serious question:

Who can we contact about getting in on the auction for IPs? I have a good bit of money saved back for an occasion like this.

I will do anything for you if you help fund getting the Homeworld IP and release the old games digitally.

Any. Thing.

More interesting times ahead.

I wonder if they'll auction off stuff from THQ's offices like they did with 38 Studios. I'd consider driving down to LA to see if I could snag some swag from games I worked on.

As long as Darksiders is picked up by someone I don't care. One of my favorite IPs of this generation and I think in the right hands it can be something great.

It's a fully owned subsidiary of Bethesda Softworks.

In the same way DICE or BioWare employees work at EA, Mikami works at Bethesda.

This is true. Weird kneejerk reaction on my part, which I mostly attribute to deep-seated annoyance at people thinking everything Zenimax has ever published was "made by the Oblivion guys."

Well, to be fair, ZeniMax kind of caused this by having both Bethesda Softworks (publishing label) and Bethesda Game Studios (game studio).

I think it deserved a thread, but I'm on my phone right now :)

Distributing it on steam and gog is the most important thing. Paid or free, I don't care.

If you create a separate thread for the indiegogo campaign, PM me or something, would ya?

This might be the last chance for a Homeworld game to be made, I can't believe all the pieces were in place but THQ never acted on it.

I didn't see much difference while playing. An actual campaign maybe.

How about the part where in Homeworld, you're playing on a single map with a ship where you gather resources and control individual units, and in Sins of a Solar Empire, you're controlling an empire and focusing on improving planets and building fleets.

Homeworld's a 3D RTS.

Sins is a 4X Strategy game rendered in 3D.

If only I had the $ to buy the Red Faction IP :/

Would you guys lend me some money? I promise the next one won't be dumbly limited by shitty cave locations.

Micromanging is pretty much essential in big battles though, even more so with the latest expansion. Obviously combat isn't the focus like it is in Homeworld but saying it's not is a bit disingenuous.

Could be interesting to see what's scooped up. Did anybody know that MS got Hydro Thunder from the Midway ashes until it was announced for xbla?

The WB Games logo was seen at the startup screen to Hydro Thunder Hurricane, so they probably loaned the IP to Microsoft and Vector Unit so they can make that game.

A new Homeworld game will find it hard to beat Sins.

Why? The Sins brand as it refers to space strategy games is being diluted by Sins of a Dark Age. Ironclad also wants to take a break from Sins of a Solar Empire for several years. If a new entry in the Homeworld franchise came out several years from now, it could perfectly ride the crest of demand.

So what's left salvaging at THQ as far as IPs go?

Red Faction
Darksiders
Homeworld - Maybe SEGA?
Drawn to Life
Supreme Commander 1 - Square-Enix has the rights to 2, don't know any details

Ideally (IMO):

Red Faction: Koch (including GeoMod tech, hopefully - unless that was already with Volition)
Darksiders: WB / SE / Platinum
Homeworld: SEGA
Drawn to Life: 5th Cell
Supreme Commander: SEGA / SE

I could see Koch Media going after Red Faction, Destroy All Humans and the THQ name to rebrand their games publishing division.

Think about its Saints Row : Battle for Earth : The Saints vs Crypto

Actually never thought of someone going after the THQ name, interesting idea. With the coverage the bankruptcy is getting though, would it not just lead to lots of people asking "didn't they go bust?".

I think the THQ still has some more brand recognition as opposed to Deep Silver name though.
