Except it's the absolute Hollywood playbook for the newest movie in a franchise that follows one that's not so popular. Pretty sure you'll find promo material for the last Terminator movie throwing Geneysis under the bus for example. Don't believe it? Watch the same thing happen with Ghostbuster Afterlife as it gets close to release.

Brexit is a pawn being used by the two major parties in this election. This isn't the "brexit election" it's being billed as, that much will be revealed after the election when people are hit with the realisation that they were bombarded with wave after wave of false claims surrounding brexit.

People should be voting on which party they believe has the best overall policies (and people to implement said policies), but yet again people are falling for the headlines rather than the facts. We've gone full circle and from a distance it's been fascinating to witness how easily people are manipulated by bullshit as long as it's framed in a way that resonates with them.

oh yeah im not going to discount the idea the companies will throw their last product under the bus to make the new product seem new, and the pacify people that weren't happy. i just don't think they are telling the actors to say this stuff directly. i think now that they are over the 3 movies and maybe out of their contracts they can be a little more open with what they say.

how the media decides to spin this is up to the media. John Boyega isn't the one who decided to make this narrative, it was the journalists interviewing and misinterpreting what he said.

i just think it's all a bit more organic and natural than it seems, not really a top down directive, but the largely media themselves doing their usual shortsighted "ravenously consuming one thing and onto the next" thing.

I've definitely had Apollo pegged as one of the potential trolls my TransEra discord friend mentioned, but that's just my own speculation.

Maybe I'll post my list of who I think the 4 other than FeistyBoots are, but I'm not sure yet. I don't actually know who's in there other than him and my friend, so it would be entirely circumstantial at best.

That Brexit thread is glorious and a nice primer for the 2020 US Election. I can't stand Trump and think he is corrupt as fuck and un fit to be a president but I don't let it ruin my life or consume me like those wack jobs at Reeeee. Heck I didn't even vote for him but still basked in the glory of the meltdowns on GAF when he was elected in 2016.

It is a democratic process and their ideas were rejected by the majority. That's democracy. That isn't fascism. Nominate and elect better representatives. Convince people of your ideas next time. What are the reactions for those who didn't vote Labour or Conservative, but instead voted for the Green party (Greta would be proud) or Liberal democrats (they love liberals, right?)

Some one go throw that thought-grenade in to the crowd and see the reaction. I am curious from a psychology POV

The UK election thread is just another reason these people are in for a rude awakening politically for probably the rest of their lives. A lot of the non-Baltic western world doesn't want very left (I won't say far left here) policies. If Bernie or Warren get the nom for 2020, Trump winning is 100% a possibility, and even if he doesn't, those 2 are going to get railroaded to hell and back in congress because most districts won't be voting in people left of centrists.

Like, Trump doesn't even need to win for these people to meltdown. All it takes is Biden getting the nomination and they'll be screaming and eating each other for the better part of the year.

Same thing happens in the USA when the Green Party takes a few votes.

Well, the Green party were all about climate change and saving the planet. Following Greta, which Era love.

Lib dems are all about fem-power, LBGT, climate change and liberalism, including legalising weed.

I just wonder where on the totum pole of Re insanity does climate change, liberalism and socialism sit. Is climate change less important than womens-rights? Is LBGT more important than social programmes that allow/enable/protect it?

Ironic indeed. I am certain the users over there played no small role in NeoGAF being among the top 5 referrers to the Clinton campaign during the 2016 US election.

But suggesting that political vanguards invaded gaming media / gaming hobby sites would be... conspiratorial or something. Maybe even borderline Gamergator. :messenger_fearful:

Y2Kev, the second most popular mod on Gaf, was part of the Clinton campaign staff (His name was found and leaked on Voat) and he was part of the inner circle, even following Clinton around the country IIRC. An influx of members cough cough, bots, cough cough followed around that time.

Have no fear though, as his meltdown on election night was peak karma.

Not going to lie, I'm from the UK and I'm disappointed in the exit poll indicating such a strong tory majority.

But it is what it is, nothing can be done about it now, wait 5 years and see what the political landscape is like around that time and try again and maybe, you know, get off your fucking arse, join a party and go canvassing for the next election.

I do find it hillarious they're all crying about labour loosing so badly though, when they (retrospectively) hated the party cause of Tony Blair and he dominated the tories more than Boris has done.

But I'm all for them fucking off to live up Scotland. Preferably on an island off the coast. With no access to the internet, or the ability to drama whore til they grow up.
