Resident Evil 6 for PS4 & XB1 |OT| Was it always this awesome?

Got my copy.

Can't believe it costs 24,99$CAD physical, I thought that was a deal on Amazon.ca and that I would have to pay 29,99$ at EBgames, but nope!

Considering the three games will have that price tag, this is a very nice move from Capcom. I'll buy all three for sure.

I'm downloading it on PS4 now since the size is small, the BB GCU discount is only $4, and having Mercs always available will be nice.

Has anyone tried Survivors yet? That was the one DLC mode that was a huge timesink for me after getting the platinum trophy on the PS3 version. I'd just like to know if the re-release on PS4 has brought life back into the DLC modes.

Did anyone try playing it via remote play on the Vita? How are the controls?
That would be one of the main reasons for me to re-buy the game.

What would be a good difficulty option for my first play through? My roommate and I are looking to play this game together, and neither of have played since launch. Is there a step above normal but below professional that would be good? Or is professional the way to go?

I forgot how bad the first 10-15 minutes are. I think it shows the bad parts of the game - slow walking and QTEs.
You also can't pause during cutscenes, which sucks because there are a ton of them.
The rest is fine though. The game has aged pretty well. The textures aren't great on a lot of things, but the character models would still be good even by current gen standards.

Also, wasn't there a new option where the QTEs would automatically do themselves or was I misinterpreting? I didn't see anything like that in the options screen.

Characters look great (I love how their clothes and hair are affected by wind and overall movement), but the environment really suffers from the hardware limitations: low-res textures and simple object with flat details everywhere. Sometimes you get textures smeared so much that they wouldn't look out of place in a low-budget PS2 game, and you don't really have to look for them that hard. :/

It's under Game Settings -> Auto Action Button.

Yeah it's a shame. I wonder if they couldn't just use the PC textures. Though I'm not sure if the PC textures are better. I'm just assuming they are.

It's a console centric publisher and franchise. I believe I recall hearing the textures and geometry were underwhelming to everyone on all systems.

Just finished the train part of Leon's campaign so far I'm having fun. I hated the slow walking start but its been good after that. I really like the new herb system. Also is there any advantage to using 1 pistol vs 2? Doesn't feel like I lose accuracy when I use 2.

Got the game and playing it for the first time, but waiting for my brother before I can jump in the campaign, so.

How should I go about the campaign? Start with Leon? Is there an order for this?

And while I'm waiting, is Mercs a good start to play even if I don't have any skills or something?

I notice this isn't on RE.NET. Is Capcom not gonna add this up there?

Follow the chronological order posted below your post. It's great imo

Not entirely sure but it should be a bit less accurate and have a higher amount of recoil. Quickshots while using two pistols can be continued by keep pressing the attack button, by the way.

Is that press L+R and the. Keep hitting R, or keep hitting both?

Does it also work with assault rifles? I was trying to figure it out last night and couldn't get it to work. At least not where it looked cool...

dual pistol vs. single pistol tradeoff is mostly reload time- you can fire off a significantly greater amount of bullets equally accurately (as long as you're used to the different red dot/hit areas of the dual pistols vs. other weapons) for a much longer reload time. with single pistol you reload pretty quickly and can actually do a 'fast' reload if you have the dual pistol fully loaded by switching to dual pistols and then single pistol again really quickly- it effectively acts as if you're switching to the second pistol that's still got bullets

the quickshot is good for stuff where it's more convenient to quickshot but not a big game changer

only the dual pistols(wing shooters), the hydra shotgun and jake's hand-to-hand weapon have quickshots where you can keep pressing l+r together mid animation to get more attacks out of it

Yes, it's an awful game. But it's so bad I have to play it again. I want to experience the torture a second time.

Hmmmm, you must have a lot of cash to play with if you can just waste it on games you think are rubbish.

Just finished the skidoo section, that was some JANK lol, game is shit in many ways but i keep playing for some reason.

How the hell do you change costumes? Or is it just like the PS3 where you can only do it in mercs?

wait, so they added co-op online stuff? cause the game i played years ago was some real disappointing shit, like i'm-done-with-this-franchise level shit.
Coop online was always in.

I'm mostly content with the visuals and performance, but I think it could have been even better. I can't imagine why it couldn't have at least been on the level of PC max. Some visual aspects of the game like the textures, water, etc. are pretty bad. I get that it's a last gen game and it doesn't look terrible by any stretch, but I still think it could have been a little better.

Oh well, RE5 is a better looking game anyway IMO, hopefully that one turns out a bit nicer.

So...not issues so far on the PS4 version, right? I'm about to finish the purchase, but I don't want any nasty surprises. :P

I haven't finished the first chapter yet but it seems fine so far, framerate stuttered for me once and some textures are hilariously bad but largely it seems pretty good.

Something my playthrough has reminded me of is how much I dislike how the animations of being grabbed by something are triggered a tad too early. I feel like when the animation triggers that I should have had at least one more second or so to react/move/get a shot or headshot in before being grabbed.

Otherwise it's still super fun to play.

It was always online lol. I imagine you quit the franchise for another reason.

yeah, i did 5 and half of 6 local/offline co-op, i meant the mercenary stuff people seem hyped about...i adored 4, i just didn't like what followed it. 6 felt like a huge mess: i enjoyed much of Leon's campaign, but Chris' was so bad/all over the place that it killed my momentum, couldn't even finish the 3rd one. glad others are finding enjoyment though!

I don't know why, but I've always found it funny that Leon knows the president personally. I just find it bizarre. I suppose it's not entirely implausible...it's just...weird.

Anywho, what are the best skills to have during the campaign? I'm curious what other people use. I always used the increased gun damage, item drop increase and field medic back on PS3.

Zombie Killer, Defense and Breakout for Leon. (Breakout makes ALL stick wiggle and button mashing QTE's significantly easier, not just when you're grabbed by an enemy.)

J'avo Killer, Defense and Breakout for Chris.

For bosses I switch to either Firearms, Melee and Defense, or Firearms, Critical Shot and Last Shot, depending on whether you can easily use melee on the boss or not.

For Jake it's Melee, Defense and Combat Gauge throughout most of the campaign, but at some points I switch to Chris' regular set.

With Ada I just switch between Chris' and Leon's sets as appropriate.

I think it's just R.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Reload time definitely goes up bit when dual wielding pistols.

I'm incredibly impressed at split-screen performance. On Xbone, it seems to be holding steady at 60 FPS during local co-op, while still looking solid.

As for the game itself, it's still the best worst game ever made, and I expected nothing else.
