Resident Evil 7 Spoiler Thread

How do I beat Mia in madhouse mode? Holy shit I moved like crazy room after room and pumped her full of handgun bullets plus axe attacks and she STILL DOESN'T DIE!

Why alma is in the game? Why the attached harm works like usual two seconds after it was cut?
Why the main character has been knifed during the dinner scene and he keeps going just alright?

Block her attacks when you're able. Otherwise, just run. Block her way with doors and move to the other end of the room. Strafe around her if she closes the gap and hit her back, but block and keep strafing if she tries to spin around.

He's more than likely infected.

Except the hole in his hand is sealed up by the medicine immediately, before he had any prior contact with the mold. So the jury's still out on that one. He's probably infected, but that doesn't explain the hole, unless the herbs are cultivated from Eveline's mold (kinda like how the First Aid Spray was likely made from t-Virus samples).

Whoops didn't realize this was the spoiler thread lmao, wouldn't have tagged that if noticed

.

Anyway, I basically figured he was slowly becoming infected the minute he entered the house/found Mia since all of that shit is under Eveline's control.

Oh also as for the first aid spray, it's likely the result of some legit medical breakthrough, the description says it promotes cellular regeneration, so I'm sure the herbs are similar.

I really feel like Lucas is the only one who was evil even before Eveline. Do we know what happened to him in the end? He supposedly entered the salt mine, but I don't remember encountering him.

im pretty sure hes still alive somewhere

maybe the umbrella team at the end gets him who knows

Man how did Capcom make this game on a budget after they had to spend so much on a female rig so you can play as Mia

They must have taken the budget on making more enemy designs out on that.

I've got mixed thoughts on Eveline. To be honest, I think she's kind of meh until the very last area.

I like how she's used there (there's a very well placed hidden scare I experienced in the hallucination house that got me pretty good that I feel most would miss). Well that and Eveline's Room in the Greenhouse, and the scare on the ship with the monitor when Mia is using the camera to see Ethan in the Mold and Eveline comes out when you look away is maybe the jump scare that most got me in the game.

For her own character I liked her presence in the final area... To be honest, I kind of wish they had done more of that. They only really take advantage of her in Eveline's Room on the second floor of the Greenhouse, and the ending area.

But I admit I felt a bit bad for her with her final line she says as the old woman, the whole fact it's the only line we hear from her grandmother self, how she's sobbing, the delivery of that line, the timing, and the line itself, "Why does everyone hate me?"

I think that one moment made me like her a bit moor and feel some empathy towards her, and highlights the fact that she is a little girl who went from like, 10 years old to 80 in three years, and she's still a kid inside, and one who's her whole life either been treated like an experiment or a monster.

I know it's cheesy, but so is the series. I don't know, that singular moment made me like her a bit more.

Was Eveline actually a little girl before, though? I was under the impression that the whole E-series thing was just straight up making it from scratch in the form of a girl, not actually putting it into a vessel. The focus on family is more interesting to me if it was like that since the one note basically was split between wondering if trying to force people in a father and mother role was just something she believed was better to fit in or because it actually felt the lack of anyone that truly cared for it.

No info on where he ends up, we just get more background info on him. He wasn't under Eveline's control throughout the game, as Umbrella gave him some kind of serum to counteract it in return for him spying on his family. He was likely a dick bag before being turned (as the photo of him you examine says lol), but I dunno about full-blown evil.

I believe there's a note in his room about him basically killing someone named Oscar long before anything would have happened to the family. Along with some other weird stuff.

Ethan loses his hand almost immediately after having it stabbed and we don't use the hand that specifically during the first fight with Mia.

The screwdriver went right through his hand when she stabbed him with it, so deep it lodged itself into the wall. For all we know it went into the wound and came out the other side. Next moment we see Ethan with his hand, he's already been infected.

I was under the impression he was reporting to another company and not umbrella... but now I'm not sure anymore.
I think he was evil all along. Him trapping a 'friend' in the attic is a good indication. He even complains about the bad smell and some weird fluid (I assume it is body fluid from a rotten corpse) liking down. I think this happened way before eveline, when he was still a child.

Oh shit, yeah I completely forgot about that note, you guys are definitely right.

thats not confirmed at all. he didnt eat the food, we dont know if hes infected because hes not showing any symptoms

the healing is very likely coming from the medicine in the house. its strongly hinted at after jack cuts ethans leg off and gives him strong medicine. i believe ethan was surprised it healed that quick too

Capcom does what Dice don't.
Honestly they probably didn't over do the Mia section with effort, look at her shadow when you have the machine gun equipped.

Dice honestly doesn't care and would use any excuse possible.

I was making fun of Ubisoft with that
of course since it's 1st person you can cheat by not changing anything except the hands and still have a playable female character

I don't think the food was infected. Its just human body parts. The baker family were testing him to see if he had turned yet and become as crazy as they are and a part of the "family". I definetly think he is infected. Between his super fast regeneration, reattaced limbs and late game hallucinations.

I believe it's said somewhere that to even see Eveline as a kid and hear her voice you have to be infected, which means at the very least Ethan has something after the Marg parts.

He definitely is infected. The Chainsaw Mia hallucinations are also a good indication imo.

Got out of the main house in Madhouse mode, now I have to go to the Old House.. what's the best way to do that? Just run past the nest to get to the save room and then get the flamethrower? It felt weird going to the trailer and just finding the grenade launcher sitting there lol

also, calling it now, the "Feed Jack Food" DLC is going to be better than Mercenaries

I never got my leg amputated by Jack in the intro, I thought it was supposed to happen 'mandatory'. I guess it's an avoidable thing.

Also, do all unlocks carry over on all dificulties ? Wondering if I can grind the game a few times on easy/normal to unlock all the items like the running shoes, art of defense, x ray goggles etc and then play madhouse with them.

I'm starting to think the radio call you hear directly before the mines is made to throw you off. When the soldier says Lucas has been in contact with someone, it could be interpreted as either Umbrella or BSAA. It's hard to tell. I'm honestly starting to think that Chris Redfield has made his own Umbrella that counters the one in Umbrella Corps, judging by the blue logo on the helicopter.

Yess'ir.

I seem to remember the Mia shadow looking quite good and different to Ethan's, unless I imagined it.

The language used during that conversation is maddeningly, unnaturally, deliberately unclear. We've been set up for a ton of community speculation and possible DLC expectation one way or another.

yes but they take up inventory slots so good luck having all of those equipped w/ space for ammo, healing, and picking up stuff

Well we know that Mia gets re-infected on the ship, and she sees child Eveline, so I'm inclined to say that he's most likely infected.

Also how shitty is that cure? Lmao, Mia gets re-infected like 10 minutes after you cure her.

Also what happens if you cure Zoe and not Mia? Does she stay behind at the burning pier doing dick all while you awkwardly boat away with Mia being pissed you didn't cure her?

Tried for sub 4 hours yesterday and got through the game on easy in 3:15:00 without any big problems. Used Health only once by accident, but used the storage crates 5 times because I forgot the Crank and the Arm at one point >_< Does using crates no more than 3 times unlock the Running Shoes? Cause I only got the X-Ray-Goggles and the Hacksaw.

You get in the boat with Zoe, she immediately dies anyway and somehow you wake up as Mia at the ship just like with the other choice. It doesn't make any sense, is confusing as hell on your first playthrough and should have been cut from the game.

Only E-Series infected can see or hear Eveline as a child. We're infected by the time we're getting the D-Series arm from the Old House.

That combined with the fact we have our arm working after it being chopped off heavily suggests we're infected by the dinner scene. A lab file indicates E-Series subjects can coapt severed limbs when infected. And it has nothing to do with the food, Eveline just needs to infect you with the mold like she did with Mia on the final tape scene.

He definitely is infected. The Chainsaw Mia hallucinations are also a good indication imo.

The fact that he can have his hand reattached after mia chops it off is described at one of the things that the first stage of the infection allows for

Sorry if this sounds pretty stupid, but I can't for the life of me remember who this dead baby was:

Also, you needed the arm and head to make the serum, but who's arm did that belong to, and who's head was it?

I was super tired when I was playing through the game, so my memory on this stuff is all over the place.

That we know of, yes.

And as it transpires, you can't save Zoe despite your choice, so there's not much point unless you want to see the later Mia fight.

Many thanks!!

The endings are a bit lame imo but the journey seems great!

That's a D-Series arm and head. Basically, they are failed fetuses infused with the fungus used as the basis for the BOW.

The BOW production method involved infection of a human embryo and cultivating it. There are many attempts, Series A through D. All failures.

Series E produced Eveline, the first success.
You need infected samples to create a cure, so they used the D-Series they had on hand from the shipwreck.

Later we use E-Series samples from the vial to create more E-Necrotoxin.

This game would be so much better & scarier with some regular T-Virus infected zombies. Imagine looking around the corner in VR and seeing one of these:

Yeah, it's pretty clear that at least some things will be cleared up in May with the dlc, and possibly the CGI film as well. We have a lot of misdirection and red herrings thrown at us in the game.

In the next game, I wouldn't mind them taking a step back on main BOW powers. No clones, no mind powers, no little girls.

Just a simple big bad monster like the tyrant was back in the day.

I mean he sees little girl Evelyn in the old house. That has to prove he is infected. That's just something she projects right? Or can she make others hallucinate even without infection?

Why, when zombies have never been scary and are even less scary now?

When can Ethan lose limbs?

I played through the whole game and it never happened.

At least once definetly happened, Mia cuts off your hand with a chainsaw in the beginning of the game, the Baker family then staples it back on at the beginning of the dinner scene.

Second one is optional. Directly after the dinner scene when Jack chases you through those rooms let him get really close when you try to enter the hatch. He will then cut off your foot.

I don't know if we needed zombies in RE7, but we definitely could've used something like chimeras or lickers or a g-type looking nasty. The molded just suck and are the same 'blobs with teeth' designs we've been hating on forever now. A shame considering how carefully designed the Bakers and the estate they live in are.

The crawling molded and the bloated ones especially look bad cause you can't really see any detail on them, they're just a dark blob of an enemy.

Jacks final mutated form also looked very uninspired. RE series has definitely had much better designed monsters than this.
