Guarantee the not a hero DLC explains exactly why chris went from BSAA to New UmbrellaJust beat the game. The final third could be shorter, yeah, but the experience as a whole was fantastic.
And... That ending totally gave me the feeling they soft-rebooted the series. Surprised to see people discussing about how the "Redfield" stuff it fits into the canon.

It's literally right next to some organizations facility, laboratory ad mines, it's not even an arms throw away. The location it very much not coincidental.

B-but the redesign...
B-but why would anyone make an anti BOW organization with the same name as the one who started all the mess...
*remembers the game has easter eggs to earlier games*
Oh... >_>
I hope whatever monsters we get next are more than just black goo monsters. That is so played out now after 5 and Revelations 2. I do like the base molded but everything everything else was pretty generic. Jack's monster form could have been so much more inspired.
Marguerite's was the big stand out for me. Really scary shibito-vibes. I hope we see Lucas's monster form in upcoming DLC.
I think they really missed a chance not having a proto-molded enemy. The deputy with molded teeth growing out of his head was creepy and it'd spooky having something like that chase you down (maybe speaking human lines like help?) some molded animals wouldn't have gone a miss like a dog or something. RE7 just needed variety as familiarity kills horror.
I'm wondering if Ethan really is an original Umbrella worker. If he was, you'd think he'd have more of a reaction to "Redfield", either being the guy who thwarted his ex-employers messes numerous times or actually being one of their top agents using an assumed name.
A lot of the molded are like low rent better BOWs from the series.
Regular molded is like a combination or Regenrators and Ooze
Crawling molded are straight up lickers.
Fat molded definitely looked like Leopatas or whatever. But they throw up instead of gas

EDIT: I mean... I know the series is known for redesigning its characters, but I could tell who Jill was when Revelations got announced. When Chris appeared in RE7 (and I was already spoiled that he would), I was like "okay, he's gonna take his mask and... oh, that's not Chris. I wonder if he doesn't appear in this endin-- what?"
I imagine that the new Umbrella isn't actually related to the old one directly. Maybe someone used the money made by the old company to set up a new group dedicated to cleaning up BOWs.
I just attributed Chris' appearance to the new engine and new approach to capturing actor's likenesses. Compared to RE5-Revelations-6 he looks different, but compared to REmake not so much.

I think the reasoning here would be:As well with regards to Mia's disappearance. Oh, we both work in a very deadly work environment, maybe my wife's disappearance might be related considering she was on assignment, perhaps I could ask someone...

Ethan has some pretty strong character traits though! Like how he hates bugs more than anything else in the world. The Ethan being an Umbrella employee theory is creative but lacks any convincing pointers. The only existing link really is the name on the list in RE5, and even then that scientist is supposedly deceased. And if I were to fake my death, I would at least make sure to adopt a new name for myself.
I believe Ethan is just kind of silent as means to allow the player to self-insert as much as possible. The game wants you to react, not the character you are playing. The less the character is a character, the more you become them.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Umbrella was probably repurposed into an anti-BOW organization.
Was that really Chris? His model looks pretty different. I thought it was their missing long-lost brother.
A lot of people are forgetting that the new Umbrella is actually the Umbrella Corps from the canon multiplayer game. I understand why people don't recognize it because that game sucked. The whole thing about them was that they were a merc group that would enter infected zones and confiscate items, samples, and personnel and were able to do so because the BSAA is the only group that actually handles outbreaks and are too taxed to find them doing this.

Just finished the game earlier today and trying to catch up on the thread lol
Seems i am the only one to think the dream sequence was a memory?
The last part of the game has Ethan flashing back to eArlier in the game with the Mia fight.
I interpreted the dream sequence with Jack and Zoe was the same thing. Perhaps after you pass out and before you wake up at the dinner table. Hell, good jack and zoeprobably fixed your hand.
Mia seemed to be fighting evelines control so why not Jack.
Perhaps they try and help him before they go crazy again.
Its never said. The message we saw was for him to "stay away"
Was it Evelyn who sent Ethan the message to get him there? I know Mia made the tape, but something about it being edited as to not be terrifying. Maybe Evelyn knew that she'd die soon because of the accelerated aging, and so just wanted to have a real "family", if only briefly. Like in Evelyn's mind, Mia would finally be amicable to the dynamic if she had Ethan.
What the theory for Ethan being an Umbrella Agent? I've only started the game but I give no fucks about spoilers.
So you're saying that "Redfield" is an Umbrella merc with a gas mask who tries to receive bioweapon samples after an outbreak?A lot of people are forgetting that the new Umbrella is actually the Umbrella Corps from the canon multiplayer game. I think we can assume that Ethan saw the "Stay Away" video three years ago, which is why the email saying to come find her was so strange. Like she sent him that video like she sent the babysitting one.The email he receives tells him to come to Dulvey. He never sees the "Stay Away" video. You find the laptop she recorded it on still on the ship.
A lengthy note about Umbrella secret operations lists a Level 9 (of 10) agent who knows about what's left of RE5's Africa project. That agent is Ethan W (Deceased). The guess is that's Ethan, who faked his death.
Also, Mia's escape tape was filmed on July 19, 2017 at 9:28 pm. That's a day after she sent the email to Ethan.
He looks more similar to his RE1 design. Just wish some stubble and aged up a bit.

Any idea what this Hungry Papa's Burger mug is a reference to? It was a bonus item as part of the Japanese collectors edition

I think he got the whole thing. I was assuming it was the kind of thing where you record the video and then it gets uploaded. Why would she record the first video if someone had to physically access the laptop to see it? Why would she not send the second one if she wanted to see it? But yeah it's not edited, that's just at the beginning for dramatic effect.I mean, that's a possibility, if she sent it to him during the ship outbreak, but you have control over her during that entire time and you never send it.
But he didn't get an edited version like many believe. It's easier to believe he only gets the email.

While I'd wager his appearance was changed because the game's director or art designers wanted it changed, it wasn't modeled after his voice actor. Like a lot of other characters in this game, his appearance is based off another model.
I don't think so. Lucas's note is pretty explicit that Mia is the only one who switches back and forth (that's why he locks her into the basement). Jack is basically always full blown nutso at that point, and he's also scratched out the eyes of the picture of Zoe so they'd never be in the same room together. The notes also mention the consciousness thing so I think it's pretty intuitive that that's what's going on, it's less unrealistic than what you're suggesting. The stuff in the guest house in the end is Evie trying to scare Ethan off, which the couch conversation doesn't achieve.I thought the same thing, it's just a little too unrealistic for Ethan to have an 'out of body' experience like that, and yes I realize that me just saying something is unrealistic may seem odd in the context of the game.
I think that conversation must have taken place in real-time when Zoe was patching Ethan's hand up, but the pain or being delirious must have prevented Ethan from recalling it earlier. Him being KO'ed on the ship was the first chance he had to get some rest through out the game, so his mind probably recalled those memories.
It seems like the Bakers, like Mia, were able to partially resist Eve's control or maybe they're able to 'revert' when Eve is resting or probably doing something else and has lesser control over them. Could be that Mia sent that email in one of those moments she was resisting with the coordinates of the Baker farm to Ethan.
