To rank locations~ (and curious how the DLC may shape my opinion in the future here), I would say there's a few more areas than people are listing here, but to give my personal order:
01.) Baker Mansion
I think this will be the top choice for most people. How it connects, intertwines, has interesting rooms, and how Jack stalks you around here is all ace. I wish it was bigger.
02.) Burnt House
This is the house that you fight long-armed Marguerite in, in a note it mentions it was burnt down by Lucas and only partially repaired. I love the boss battle here, and a big part is due to this house's design.
03.) Ship
Yuuuuup. It's grown on me. I like the different floors, various unlockable rooms, and how the Molded function here more than any other location. I think it's cool to see it as its fancy then decayed self, and I think it has a good differing more vertical layout.
04.) Old House
I like its design quite a bit, I think I almost want to place it above Ship due to Eveline's room part, but how small scale it is kind of knocks it down for me and the limitation to how Marguerite can stalk you here. Still very fun to explore.
05.) Testing Area
I wish there were more traps, but it's fun to maneuver. The Happy Birthday location elevates it for me, as well as commentary from Lucas throughout.
06.) Processing Area
I think the basement of the house should be counter as a different location, has a different map and a different feel with an obvious transition between the two. A fun basement location which does put me on edge, both the first time through and second in the dark.
07.) Yard
Hey, the yard counts too! I think the Yard worked as a great hub, trailer was visually nice, love the Lucas rave lights touch later, and how it connects to most of the main areas in the game for the first 2/3rds. Also fun to explore and find some secret about.
08.) Pier
This area's very brief, but I love the visual look of it, it has by far my favorite save room in the game, and the "Pier of the Molded" moment was nice, as well as I liked Jack's third boss fight. I thought it was a nice sub-area.
09.) Wasteland
This is the small intermission section you go between the Ship and the Mines, go through two areas of dead forests split with a little rickety shack in-between. I don't know, loved hose desolate it was and various visual touches, plus the march of the Molded before entering the mines.
10.) Guest House (Beginning Hour House)
The second visit to the hallucination house does elevate it, but not enough to put it above the others. I still like it but it's a bit small and very few things happen. It ends up being the most scripted area of the game on both occasions which I think never helped it really shined. Do have nostalgia for it thanks to the Beginning Hour demo, though.
11.) Mines
I don't hate it, but it did turn out to be my least favorite. Visually I actually like it, but I think the situational stuff is kind of just throwing Molded at you. I did enjoy the climax climb, but feel more could've been done here. I think this location may be expanded more in upcoming DLC.
