So playing my first madhouse run. Having the circular saw turns the mode into easy mode though lol. Can you just saw the bloated moulded though?

The fact that Umbrella is back is just pure fan service. No official group would call themselves that after Umbrella was recognised to be the cause of death of millions in Raccoon City and then a terrorist group picked up the name Neo-Umbrella and again killed millions in several parts of the world. Not a lot of lore stuff outside the fact that Umbrella seems to be back and Chris somehow got way younger.
I struggle with this one if this is the case. A lot. Mainly the "why". She would have had other options at stopping them, and for a BOW focused on family, even this black sheep that was attempting to break it apart would be part of your master plan that you'd think you could contain if you were an omnipresent bioweapon.
Additionally, was there any documentation/files that indicates this is part of her powers or the mycelium development or just conjecture of what happened at the boat? I mean, we physically see the calcification but post serum it's just weird.
I don't think the serum actually works as a cure. Even If you give it to Mia she is still under Evie's control when you get to the boat. Or maybe it just won't cure if you have been under the influence too long (which is the case with both Mia and Zoe).
I suspect it's because the serum is based off of D-Series subjects and isn't effective on E-Series (I think a note in the game hinted at as much).
KInd of feels like an RE tradition. Both RE1 and 2 are the same way when you know what you are doing.

Any tips for EMD? This mode is driving me crazy.
Well after thinking about it a little, while I do think it is a pretty good game overall, there are definitely some glaring narrative pitfalls in Resident Evil 7.
The atmosphere of the initial Baker house is never achieved again throughout the entire game.
The entire choice thing is incredibly badly done. At least make the Zoe choice be a bad ending because she was actually evil all along and tricking you or something, don't just make it be plot armor. And how does Mia end up near the boat in the bad ending scenario.
And yeah, Ethan's reactions are definitely weird and muted, I can get some of them might be a result of being tired dealing with Mia's shit, but this is the dude who went to find her after 3 years, he shouldn't react so passively to her being kidnapped to Lucas and some other shit.
It kind of feels like they took the approach of FPS= making the character feel more like a player's avatar than its own character. And honestly throughout the game you occasionaly realize that it seems like Ethan has this prescient knowledge that this is a RE game. Like he knows something is coming even though he shouldn't. I guess they could still kind of explain some of that by him possibly being aware of umbrella or other organizations dealing with bio-weapons.
I think he actually never reacts to the scorpion, snake and other weird locked doors or keys. Yeah a RE player would be like "of course, it's RE", but a character that sees that for the first time would be "What the fuck is this shit?"
Exactly which part of it are you having trouble? A general tip i can give is to use as little ammo as possible, and save the magnum/GL for Margueritte. Use and abuse of bombs, traps and turrets on the rooms.
Currently the part when you get out again. I have been blindsided couple of times now.
My bullet usage is good I think.
-First one in the dissection room to blow up the bomb under the item box/treasure chest
-Next room is one shotgun and one handgun optimally. Sometimes couple more because of missed shots.
-Next two bullets are for the hallway with the barrel
-One bullet to blowup the bomb in the broken stairway
-One or two bullets in the room with the hatch. Depends if I get the molded to walk into the trap or not.
-Couple of handgun shots after getting the key so the molded stay in the turrets line of fire
-Blow up one bomb to kill two molded without legs
-Try to shoot the two crawling molded. Preferably 4 pistol bullets but usually bit more.
Watched the entire gameplay of the game on youtube and agree completely. First 1.5 hours were brilliant. Goes downhill after the basement/fungus intro
-In the generator room you can use the trap to kill one of the Molded
-You don't need to destroy the bombs in the broken stairs, there is a safe spot whre you can drop right in the middle of the two
As for outside, don't even bother killing the molded, they will just spawn again and again until the Fat Molded dies. Wait for him to spawn and shoot the bombs around him. Might need to use a shot of the GL/Magnum to drop him so you can rush in to the Greenhouse.
Considering the later parts are not as good that's the very definition of going downhill. The ship section for example has very few redeeming qualities, it looks visually bland and the only thing there are the molded. The mines are even worse in terms of look. And all of it is followed by a disappointing boss fight.Just because the first hour of a game is the best part of it doesn't mean it "goes downhill" after that. Jeez.

This is a long thread. Question:
I guess theship comes from Resident Evil Revelation 1 or 2? (I believe those took place on a boat)

Played the game in its entirety in VR. On Normal it took me 13 hours and 40 minutes. Posted a review in the PSVR impressions thread:

I just didn't like the dynamic with Lucas. I didn't like the huge Daddy monster and I didn't like the huge boss at the end and didn't like the ship segment. Didn't like the funny looking mother boss battle either with the huge legs/arms. And the big black monsters? I could have done without it.
The first 1.5 hours felt really raw and tense. It felt extremely grounded and thats what I loved about it. It had a hint of some sci-fi terror but felt completely believable.
Not arguing against the high scores or all the positive feedback. The shift in tone just didn't work for me. At the same time, I've never played a resident evil game and my favorite resident evil movie is the first one, so I'm not exactly the main market for this game lol.

Maybe Umbrella was like, "Y'all we good people now."The fact that Umbrella is back is just pure fan service. Gotta give props for the boss fights too. I liked the designs of all of them and fighting Lucas made me feel like I was fighting a true RE big bad.
Although it took forever to find one of the last eyes I needed to shoot, lol.

That was Jack, tho, not Lucas.
I don't understand why so many people missed this while Ethan shouted "This is getting old, Jack!" like, practically seconds after the fight is initiated, lol.
Not to mention the rest of the dialog "I was gonna be her father", "you killed my margarette"

If he didn't say those things would you have had any idea at all that it's Jack? It's poorly inserted into the game and out of nowhere. I can understand why people are confused about it.

Some thoughts about the Bakers:
Marguerite is calcified and shattered. Jack is calcified but not shattered. Depending on your choice, Zoe is either left alive but infected, or (reinfected?)calcified but not shattered. Both Jack and Zoe appear in the "living room vision".
Could this mean that they are both still alive at the end of the game? To me it seems that only if you're shattered after being calcified is it permadeath. (Eveline is calcified and shattered.)
I'm probably just grasping at straws because Jack is fucking awesome and Zoe would be an awesome protagonist for RE8.
It would be hilarious is Resident Evil 8's protag was Jack Baker.
its me or you can get enough coins to buy everything ?
Did the 33 coins run but didnt have enough to buy all the coins, steroids , estabilizer and Magnum. Being not able to carry your coins or the stats coins for future runs at least on the same difficulty is a bad design for me

Maybe. The problem is I don't think any of us really understand how Eveline as a bioweapon works at the minute detail, just the gist. Like she causes people on the ship to straight up explode.
Maybe the shattering after calcification = actually dead. Maybe there is a hive mind collective for everyone who has been infected. Would make some kinda sense for Jack to say "free my family" in the dream if he and Zoe are actually trapped in the calcified form. Or maybe they are asking for the release of death, and Zoe being in the vision confirms she is dead if you don't give her the serum
Or maybe a lot of this was Capcom not putting a cohesive narrative and saying "fuck it. this would be cool".
And this was a great game, with a lot of cool moments, but the more I think of the plot and Eveline as a bioweapon shit starts to stop making sense
Is it even possible for Zoe to die if she doesn't receive the serum?
Probably. She dies when taking the serum. Mia dies when she doesn't take the serum. The only reason is like Zoe said "you die if you are too far gone" so maybe she was too far gone. But then Eveline can still manipulate them if they did take the serum as seen when Mia saves you when you give her the serum, but she is obviously turning.
So I dunno what the serum did. Did it cure them, only for eveline to infect them again?
Honestly, if we want any answers the "Daughters" tape in banned footage V 2 or Not a Hero might answer somethings.
Yeah it seems like she reinfected them, but the mind control is broken and takes a lot longer to reestablish.
