That tape recorder video bummed me out. Talk about immersion breaking.
They're really ramping out the info this week. You'd think it was releasing this month or next lol.
There is no mandate for that and it's up to the devs if they want to put in the extra effort. Case in point, RE:HD.It'd be nice if devs weren't required to exclusively use the default Playstation save file manager (complete with cheery bing and boop chimes), but there's not much Capcom can do if it's Sony's policy.
I never really noticed this until just now and this has been the case since this gen started. That tape recorder video bummed me out. Talk about immersion breaking.
............................oh My GOD, they're actually making this
https://youtu.be/sjdACwMNXgk?t=5m47s Oh man, hearing something routine or expected but then goes silent the moment something pops up.Videos could have music disabled, or the areas thus far don't have them. There was plenty of rooms like that in old RE. We have this which is rumored to be the save theme

I would agree that the RE4 combat system is on to something but it really does not fit with the this franchise anymore the more stuff you can do with it.Also, I need my action RE after 7. I want both styles. After all this game is still canon with this

I'm glad capcom didn't feel the need to reboot the series. With all the characters, experiments, and Viruses going on. There's more than enough room for all sorts of styles. Though games that lean more on RE0-CVX have been missing for awhile. So it's nice to see something resembling that back. Totally fine with mainline going back to horror since that's where it's roots lie, with spinoffs or a separate series being action or other genre. Don't really care which series gets the title of being main, so long as everyone gets something that appeals to them.
So, this is like a bigger budgeted version of Sonic.I hope so. I'm not going to discuss about the direction of the series because it's a lost cause at this point haha. They got into too many styles and made fans out of every one of them so now we are all one big I prefer this and I prefer that family.
I prefer the classics.
lmao at needing a switch knife to cut an electric tape. This is waist high obstacles level of bullshit. Gonna be so mad if I run into an electric taped box I can't open because I don't have a knife. :\

I only just noticed that the supposedly ,,leaked" save room theme actually isn't there. Other than that, everything is simply right. With the box smashing, you even got your damn RE4 in there, lol.
So basically, it's finally Resident Evil again.
That knife just exploded that box, really feels out of place based on how life-like the rest of the game looks.
Not too keen on this, I really liked RE2, 4 and 5 but this feels like Silent Hill from what I've seen and played. Will grab it, but right now it feels so far from Resident Evil, not that it's a bad game, it just feels like another title.
So this is probably a dumb question that's already answered easily, but do we know how much of this game is in vr? Because the entire thing being vr compatible would be amazing (loved the playable demo on the uk vr tour, and the kitchen short was terrifying), but I don't want to jump to conclusions.
Entire game is confirmed to be playable through VR from start to finish, as well as visa versa (be played without VR as well). You can freely switch from PSVR on and off in the middle of play even.
Again, these videos is what they should open their marketing with.
Now it looks like RE.
Not with strafing, fuck that shit, it's not RE without pure tank control. So basically, it's finally Resident Evil again.

Walk slowly towards the box... think about how to open it with your newly acquired knife...

Y'know, I've only played REmake and Resident Evil 4, but are any of the others set in a Hotel like the Overlook? That would be an amazing setting for a game haha.
This takes place after 6 right?
Play Silent Hill 2. (Not fully Overlook-like, but close, and truly classic in its own inimitable way.)
Yep, confirmed. It's in-canon.
I'm expecting mid-late Resi 7 to turn into a more traditional biohazard-esque situation.
Are PS4 games required to use Sony's file save system? :/
Oh good. I was in the SH2 tech thread the other day and was keen on it, so good to know! Cheers.

You're in for such a treat. Make sure to create an LTTP thread!
Wasn't it the same with the PS3?
I believe that the PS4 version of resident evil 4 doesn't use the PS file system.
Knowing Capcom and how they said RE was returning to it's horror roots for 6.
I kind of hope it's also playable with teleport movement. I always thought that was lame, but now that PSVR is out, I actually prefer it to moving cameras.
The people talking about the save menu, every PS4 title I've played where you manually save brings you into a PS4 OS menu. Does the system even allow you to manually save without something like that?
From recent memory, Bioshock has an in-game save menu.
Just making fun of the "it's finally Resident Evil again" thing. ;pThey changed the camera to first person view if you didn't notice.
