I'm confused about the backgrounds. In some of the screenshots, they look higher res and have more detail while in others, they look upscaled with filters applied over them.
Do we know if they're actually retouching these or are my eyes deceiving me?
Guys, a few questions:
1. What's with the contract Capcom had with Nintendo about the exclusive rights for a remake back in the GameCube days?
2. I thought the backgrounds aren't available anymore and they only got the backgrounds in the GameCube resolution?
GAF I need clarification!!
Because in hyped as fuck!
1. There never was a contract, just a verbal agreement. That's also why Viewtiful Joe, Killer7 and RE4 were ported so quickly. Mikami made the call because he was bitter about the PS2 and the GameCube was the only other real option, since the Xbox was a joke at the time.Guys, a few questions:

Yes the plants have been remade although I have no idea why.
edit: perhaps most easier seen on the plant on the left. In the original its leaves are growing upwards. In the remaster they are growing downwards.
I can understand why people like them, but I just can't put up with it. Behind the character tank controls where you can control the camera are fine but the fixed camera games are what kill it for me. I get people have nostalgia for it but if I spend more time fighting against the controls to do what I want than actually playing the game, I'm not going to play it for very long. So glad to read that in the OP. Thanks!
Crushed blacks, ugly sharpening. Did they not learn from the critisicm xbox one got for this?

No it can be used for progressive material as well. I processed like 20 videos with it a while ago and I can instantly recognize the effect. Watch it in motion here :I googled NNEDI3 and so far I found that its a scaling process for interlaced images. Im no expert on this stuff but what good would this do toward making images upres to 720p and above? And why would an interlace processes be used rather than Capcom just making the assest render progressively? I mean I can even force the GC version to 480p and the Wii version does it properly through the options.
You can clearly see details have been added, the swords on backwall aswell as the fireplace now have detail, the right side wall has a pattern on the wall now whereas before it didn't, even the wallGIF version
Would be awesome to play this for the first time again. Hope this does well.
This is one of my most hyped PS4 games. I've never had a chance to play this and I started watching the game informer playthrough but with the announcement of this I'm going to stop watching and go in fresh the first time. I will shit myself due to crimson heads.
But...you can't go in fresh already knowing!

lamp on the far left is now visable instead of blurring into the background, same with the rest of the images Capcom has done some tinkering, wonder what it looks like on PS4? or even natively on PS3?
I don't think these screens are doing the game justice, is there a trailer yet?

HD Remaster:
I can't spot the depth of field effect or Jill's shadow in this screenshot. But maybe it's just a poor quality screenshot.
Gonna buy it, and I encourage all of you to do the same, if only just to send a message to Capcom. REmake has never been a huge commercial success.
Theoretically what's the most a modder could do to the PC version if they accessed the background files? Slightly better upscaling?

1080p/30, with this graphic... Bah... It's a joke. I can't believe it...
If it looks as good as that with DF on PS4, I'd be happy. The backgrounds -on their own- don't have DoF. It's added by the GC/Wii/WiiU in real time. The effect seems to have been removed in this new version (just like it happened with RE4 on PC/360/PS3).
Straight from the GC disc:
Notice in some ways it looks closer to the "remaster" compared to the realtime post-processed image the GC/Wii/WiiU produces.

Probably this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62rptEGgPLc
Someone, as a fan project, is doing a "remake" of RE2 in Unreal Engine using assets from Darkside Chronicles.
Anyone seen this?

RE2 HD?
Animations are locked to that frame rate, running the game at higher resolutions will only stretch the background images further.
