I knew someday Capcom'd "port" REmake to PC.
Will they add subtitles to the game, tho? Doubtful

So beautiful. I don't understand though. I'm cramming money against my screen and nothing is happening.
the gamecube version can be run on 60 FPS on emulator

It's a cobbled project that's picking stuff from Darkside Chronicles and tries to make it play like an original RE game.
I'm sure the dude is passionate but it takes more than that. You need to start from scratch and create new content, not use past games' data as a crutch. Feels cheap.
I honestly believe some people can't tell stuff are moving abnormally fast when setting some games to 60fps, they just think it looks great which is true from a IQ point of view but it also looks wrong and stupid sometimes. It can't because the animations are tied to framerate. The game runs too fast if you play it at 60fps. The only things in the game that run at 60 are the door animations I believe.

If they lost the CG backgrounds how did they do Resident Evil UC? Don't tell me they did the house and zero chapter all over again.
No it cannot.
Running it at 60fps runs it at 2x speed. Only the door opening animations are 60fps.
This of course doesn't mean that the animations are inherently only possible to be rendered at 30fps. It just means that the framerate isn't unlocked.
For example, Kingdom Hearts II runs at 30fps, and if you render at 60fps in an emulator it plays double speed.
However you can also use an AR code in the emulator which allows you to render the game out at 60fps, or 120fps, or any arbitrary framerate and be completely smooth.
I think REmake is the exact same. I would be that if someone had the knowledge on how to do it, they could set remake to render it at 1/2 speed, then emulate it at 2x speed to allow for 60fps gameplay, and 120fps door opening animations, similar to how you can do such a thing in Super Smash Bros Brawl for 120fps gameplay.
Res: 1920x1080 / Internal Resolution: x4 AA:16xQ-CSAA / AF: 16x FPS:60 / Vsync / Fullspeed + DSP LLE + OpenMP Decoder Textures + 16/9 Hack ingame work !!! =D /

But you aren't fighting the controls, you're fighting your willingness to try things that are unique.
I simply cannot ever stress this enough. The controls of classic RE are not difficult or cumbersome, unless you're unable to reverse left from right depending on your perspective, which I'm sure you can if you try.
Good job, I'm surprised by how similar it looks.
For what it's worth, I think this is going to be an excellent port.
FYI the capcom-e edition is now sold out at play-asia. but the collectors edition is still available
I can't seem to upscale it to 1080p and make it look ok though. The higher resolution the more "artificial" it looks if you try to de-blur the image.
Let's see how Capcom will handle it.
To my awareness, XBLA is having a Capcom sale right now and you can pick up a digital copy of Resident Evil 5 along w its DLC for a total of $11. As for RE 6, you can likely find a cheap, used copy on Amazon.
No one knows that the animations are locked to that framerate, and I severely doubt that they actually are.
The only thing that would be locked to that framerate would be animated backgrounds, which make up a pretty tiny portion of the games environment. Even so, your character moving at 60fps across a 30fps background isn't even that weird.
In RE4PC the 30fps reload animation stood out because it 30fps animated character, who is usually 60fps in a 60fps world.
In REmake it would be a 60fps animated character, moving across a 30fps animated section, who us isually a 60fps animated character moving across a completely static section.
When do you think we'll have the first gameplay trailer?
Next week at Gamescom or next month at TGS?
I only have a PS3.
Used on Amazon for $15:

Hey i'm in as long as it's well under $60.
Now Capcom knows what to do...
Onimusha 1 + 2
This excellent series has been ignored far too long!
Is there any DLC or something else that I lose because it's used and most likely any code activated?
Edit: Also wondering the same about RE6.
That is too much. This was the real shit back in the day.
So the 1st is direct from the GC ver, the 2nd is the new Remaster and the 3rd is your personal attempt at the 1st?This is the original 512x448 image from the original GC game (saved in jpg):
This is the upscaling/filtering/postprocessing Capcom did:
This is a quick and dirty but also somewhat sophisticated, upscale I did:
They look similar but Capcom seems to have additionally processed the upscaled images to remove compression artifacts. Take a look at the windows for example.
That's nice. Something about the blood splatter in the 2nd looks a bit fake tho. It's too evenly lighted and too warm in color.Maybe one day

28,000¥Woah, never saw this before. o_o
What was the price for this beautiful thing at launch?

Holy shit that's a nice find !
Forest (that's his name?) has been moved to the right.
The plants' have been replaced (the one on the right was aliasing even in the original version).
I can't tell if this has been done using image editing or if the actual pot and herbs have been altered in the original 3D scene file.
I would go with the former.
I did some quick digging in the orginal GC files and the other find was this:
The mansion was textured with close-ups in mind, they used very high-res textures for the time. It's basically a CG movie of the 2000-era.
I thought that maybe they tried and there were too many artifacts because the source material wasn't of enough quality, but no.
What this means is, rerendering wouldn't bring about too many artifacts of whatever kind(even if it did they could just upscale the source textures instead ... but I guess that's too much work). The source material is high-res itself. Just look at the material applied on the "S" shapes in the garden and the level of detail even when the viewpoint is really close to the chair.
This is really maddening because we get upscaled images that are retouched by hand instead. Well I guess we should be happy it's getting ported.
Background-wise, this is nothing more than a quick job (for now ?).
These are still some of the best graphics in gaming doe...1080p/30, with this graphic... Bah... It's a joke. I can't believe it...
Do you have link to the tools used for extracting backgrounds? I wouldn't mind taking a look at this too.
When playing through Dolphin you can dump textures as they appear in game. All the backgrounds are just textures, so every time you enter a room or camera change it can dump the background.
I'm actually dumping a bunch right now because I'm trying my own scaling on them to see if I can get something that looks a bit better than what Capcom has put out so far, and much better than what REmake looks like typically scaled up.
I'm uploading a fat group of the backgrounds to my Sta.sh now (it should be about 217 of them).
You can check that folder out and it should be updating as the rest upload.

REmake was a marvel.
