I dont know but i feel like i saw this somewhere before. Hmmm

So it's like RE6 :P

:) For as much shit these films get it's not like the games are really that much better. The films just aren't adapting the game stories. I would say the spirit and tone are there between them. They're both ridiculous, campy, and over the top. Let's not forget Chris holding and stopping but also punching a boulder!? The best thing the films did was going off and doing it's own thing while still pulling from the games and using them as inspiration instead of outright adapting them.

I progressively enjoyed each movie more once I'd accepted how dumb and stupid they are. I think they've got their hearts in the right place, and there's something kinda innocuous about them compared to some other action franchises - never nasty or misogynist or anything. Wasn't expecting this to release in China, but IMDB says the last one was?

Resident Evil series is alright just as long as you go into knowing it isn't canon or same timeline.

  • The first was fun.
  • The second was awful (officially lost it when Nemesis puts up his dukes to box).
  • The third (Extinction) they went off the deep end with the crazy, silly, and stupid.
  • The fourth (Afterlife) felt like a little return to form and apologizing for the last two by taking away Alice's powers and clones in the opening minutes. Even part of the dialogue is Alice saying "thank you" in some form. It was a bit over the top with some of the action set pieces but they already made the bed. Wesker was a bit much but they were tying it into RE5 (obviously).
  • The fifth (Retribution) was back to trash. They even reused scenes of people popping around corners shooting and missing (probably to extent the duration of the film). Tried to do fans a favor by bringing in people and using game settings but it was awful. Should've kept Leon and everyone out of it except Kevin Durand as Barry Burton. Also, there isn't anything being Retributed in this film, what the heck?!

As for 3D, the 3D in Afterlife was just very immersive. It was an amazing movie going experience. Everything fit nicely together. Retribution, saw that in IMAX and that was made poorly. 3D wasn't good, nothing was good.

Do you mean canon within the games or canon within its own movie series?

It felt like half of RE5 was people shooting back and forth at each other missing

Weren't they?! More than half cause it was just all the big name people shooting at each other, can't kill anyone.

Haha, fairpoint. Not canon with the games. They all connect together, just sort of genre-bend from one to another a little. But the Alien series did that too.

On the bright side, I just learned that there's a third CGI film coming out!

EDIT: Didn't actually watch the video, so I wasn't aware that was actually the end of the last film - apologies! Vendetta is real and is coming out next year, though.

I can't tell if they are deliberately parodying (...), or if they are serious.

Exactly my whole spill with the series.

While Resident Evil (games) has always been inspired by B-films, and it's appropriate that it inspired a B-film series, I'd say they're very different kinds of dumb, honestly.

There is a third CG film releasing in January (liie, two days after RE7), but that's a troll trailer spoiling the end of Damnation.

The Resident Evil movies are my dirtiest, guiltiest little secret. I can't wait for this, it's my most anticipated movie.

I thought Afterlife was by far the worst of the bunch. Apocalypse and Retribution are my favourites followed by 1 then 3. 4/Afterlife firmly in last place.

I wish they (Retribution spoilers)
killed Leon instead of Barry. Barry was awesome.
Leon was just insufferable in Retribution.

These movies are one of my guiltiest pleasures, bring on the next bag of garbage!

I also saw Afterlife in 3D
It made the film 100 times better than it was.

With 3D = 10/10
Without 3D = breaks disc
