Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D |OT| Where the hell is Leon?

Figures my favorite characters (Chris & Krauser) would get the boring costumes.

Claire's is really great (except for the utility belt) and this is probably the first time I've liked Barry. (The rest of the dudes need "revealing" costumes now too. Fan service for everyone!)

I've said it before, but now it's even more apparent in her alt costume artwork, Jill's face is MESSED UP.

Question...does the game run at 30 or 60? If 30, does it at least have smooth looking animation?

can you give some details on the Revelations demo? Like how long is it? and is it the same demo that was shown earlier this year? Thanks!

It's the same demo that was shown and it's pretty short.

Does anybody know who's the composer?

EDIT: About the choppy animation, maybe they set down the animation frames of enemies when they are farther away to save CPU power.

Did they really confirm no DLC plans for this? You'd think it's the type of game that could benefit greatly from such things, even more than the likes of that Chronicles game, not only for players to get more bang for their buck but also for Capcom as it would make users hold onto it instead of sell it off and get others to buy it used and what not. It's not like it has that much effort in its actual content (though porting down a PS360 game couldn't have been easy, this could have passed as an NGP game in higher res) since it seems to have nothing new outside costumes and stuff and some people are already miffed it's not simply a part of Revelations or whatever...

Also, since I don't have a 3DS, can people confirm how exactly the friend codes and lists work? Is it completely unified this time? Like, if you have SSFIV 3D and have some friends on it, will you be able to play Mercenaries 3D with them without going through any importing process or whatever else, just starting the game up and playing? Or are friend lists still separate by game but you can also export them to generic 3DS lists and then import them into other games?

Its a unified list, but there isnt anyway to invite someone from another game...yet.

Yep game looks great. This is getting me more hyped for Revelations. I guess I'll buy The Mercenaries since I have nothing else to play.

Hah, just started up the game and the tutorial was all in English with Japanese subtitles. Sweet.

By far the best looking 3DS game by miles!

The last time I played Mercs was in RE4. Maybe it's just me, but this version seems much faster. Love it so far. :3
Yeah, since there's no stopping for picking up items, no menu for changing weapons, and there also added mobility and melee from re5.

So no animation to pick up items on the ground now?

I like the shotgun hard aim, over the gun instead of over the sholder, guess it gives a better 3D effect doing that.

Word. It's definitely nice to switch out on the fly. :)

So I just finished the first three levels of training and unlocked Claire, Rebecca, and Krauser. ^^

Hey, so I've never played any RE games. Would I enjoy this and Revelations? I've been wanting to play one, but the controls sort of bugged me when I tried to play the first one on DS.

EDIT: Let me rephrase that. Would I enjoy Revelations and this despite not knowing the story or anything related to RE?

None of us have played Revelations so how are we supposed to know if you'll like it?

All I can suggest is play the newer games (RE4/5) and see if you like those controls. If you do then perhaps there's a higher chance that you'll enjoy Revelations/Mercenaries 3D.

3-5 was a pain in the ass for me. Had to repeat it like 6 times.

Ah, no. I meant does anyone know how much of an emphasis they're going to put on story or is story even really a huge part of RE?

Well the story is a convoluted mess at this point. I don't think it's required to know a lot about the other games to enjoy one of the sequels. Worst case scenario you can check the RE wiki for additional info.

Also Mercenaries probably doesn't have much in term of story so you shouldn't worry about that if you want to play it.

Don't worry if you don't understand the story, we who have played every game in the series don't either. MST3K mantra applies here: don't let the absurd story get in the way of the excellent gameplay the series is really known for.

I went ahead and compiled together a list of most Mercs 3D videos I've stumbled on. A few of these might have been mentioned in earlier posts by other people.

Note that quality is a bit all over the place. But a few of these are in surprisingly okay quality.

Lack of Claire upsets me :(

RE3 jill is cool, memories of when the game launched are flooding back now.

More enemies on screen would be nice, but regardless....I AM SO SOLD!

You can aim in 3rd person. There's also 4 different control schemes. I'm not sure what the difference is between them though.

One of them uses the touch screen for camera movement, with the XYAB buttons for melee, picking up items, reloading, quick healing and quick turn from what I've seen.

Another one uses the XYAB buttons for camera control with the 3rd person aiming/shooting, with the dpad and right shoulder button used for the other functions.

I haven't seen anything about the other two.

Alexios

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Yeah I also saw in a video that one of the control schemes actually does allow you to move, shoot and adjust your aim while doing so too (other schemes let you shoot while moving but only straight ahead, not aim anywhere). The downside is it uses the face buttons to aim (why couldn't they have reverse controls with the face buttons being like WASD and the stick aiming? well, maybe they do and I haven't seen it anywhere yet).

picked this up today using bic points.

like basically everything i've bought on 3DS to date, it's not exactly content-heavy but a lot of fun.

revelations demo is pretty impressive too! looks like the first RE4-style horror-style RE.
