My PS3 broke and I had to backup everything to a new one. I now lost all SP progress and also coop and competitive levels (including my medic upgrades and competitive beserks). I'm also level 33 on my profile but I have a level 10 (?) symbol nest to my ID. All my stats are ok 'though.
Right, but you see, stats are saved on the server-side, and stats are sent from a logged in PSN account. While you can use more than one person's account on the PS3 while playing LBP, you only log in one PSN account.
So until we can log-in two at a time, we can't have both players logged in and reporting their stats to the server.
Yeah, that makes sense and I don't doubt that you guys have thought of all the possibilities. Too bad player 2's stats have to save to the server and can't just be a saved field on the disc and every time that player logs in it just pulls the saved data. I'm sure there's a reason.
I feel like a douche making such a picky complaint to such an awesome game.

Can you not save the splitscreen stats with the same account? That should be possible, shouldn't it? Because that way the splictscreen is kind of pointless if you play it regulary. I'm playing it with my girlfriend and she wants to use the better abilities too...
For the last 2 weeks I've been playing under my name on my brother's ps3 (home for the holidays). Even when I transfer all my data on a flash drive, will my levels be messed up?
What's the save data problem you guys are talking about?
I've encountered a bug where the game is no long saving my progress in the solo campaign if I use the Load Level option. I trigger checkpoints and/or use the save & quit option but it doesn't actually save my progress. No saving icon or anything. I finished the game yesterday with no problems, but have been using the Load Level option to go back and replay bits.
I've just noticed that the only progress it will save, is if I use Continue Game option. But that progress was originally made by using Load Level, so I can't understand why it decided to stop saving.
Anyone else have that happen? I loved the hell out of the game and have been recommending it to people, but I can't do that now considering it shipped with such a ridiculous bug. What good is a game that won't even save your progress?
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the problem, but why would you need to save progress using Load Level? You have access to all the major break points in all the episodes. They're not as frequent as the checkpoints, but none of them are particularly far apart.
Fine. But PLEASE save at least the stats progression on my Splitscreen-Buddy! It's so annyoing that he has to start all over again with medic when we play together.

If I just wanted to skip areas and still be able to continue on with my progress. I don't see why it worked once then never again. After first finishing the campaign, I used the Load Level option to jump to a later part in the game (2nd last chapter) to do some of the requirements for trophies and it was saving fine at that point. It wasn't until I went back to the game today and tried to go to another point where it stopped saving.
Games like CoD4 and CoD:WaW allowed you to load levels once you've completed them and could still save your progress.
Edit: Upon further inspection, it will save anything I do under New Game, just nothing done under Load Level, even though it originally did.
I'm starting to think that since I initially used Load Level to do a later level in the game before starting a full New Game, that it used that Load Level point to create the New Game save, and that's why I could save that Load Level state, but none others. Looks like you shouldn't actually be able to ever save a Load Level game (which is an awful decision, in my opinion) and that I unknowingly found a loophole in their save system. Perhaps not a bug, but still sloppy and still disappointing.
But you can't skip a level you haven't done yet, right? And choosing Continue Game allows you to start where you last left off, and push forward into the later game. So does that mean you want to back up and redo some of the parts you've already completed, and then keep going into new parts? If so, I don't think there's any way to do that unless you still have Continue Game saves from back then.
This all makes sense to me and doesn't sound like a bug at all, but maybe I'm just not getting what you're saying.

I've edited my previous post to make it more clear. I have completed the game and then after that used Load Level to jump back into it and it was saving originally.
i just started my 10k kill run maybe 4 days ago or so. i'm up to 4500 or so kills. I've been playing deathmatch exclusively, except for the odd skirmish when I need a change of pace. i'm so sick of this game already I don't know how I'm going to stick with it long enough to get that trophy:lol

Oh, okay. Is it maybe the fact that you've started a new game that's disabling saves for Load Level? I haven't tried myself, but maybe in Load Level you can only save if you loaded something before where you are in Continue, and if you load after where you are, you can't? (In order to stop people skipping forward.)

My guess is that it's intentional that your progress isn't saved because it would overwrite your "New game" progress. The intended usage is that you can replay earlier levels, but if doing that would overwrite your "real" game progress, people would be mighty pissed. They'd have to replay everything in between, even if they just wanted to check back into a level for intel, show a friend a certain boss fight or whatever.
And perhaps that's also the reason why it did save when your "Load level" playing was ahead of where you were at in the "New game" campaign. In that instance it just propels you ahead. No harm is done to your progress.

Suggestion:
Reserve guest stat data (XP/levels/grey tech acquired etc) within each account, in addition to the stats already tracked for the real account. The one and only PSN account still determines whose set of stats count when one player plays, just as it is now. The extra data would only come into play when that person has a second player with him locally. Guest data could not be detached from the primary PSN login in any way. Players couldn't take their guest profile home to their own PS3s. That's all understood. However, even this limited solution would allow guest players to rack up some improved equipment and cusotmize their outfits, as long as they stick with the same primary PSN user. That is already worthwhile.
Is anyone else hoping for a map pack of smaller, more strategic maps? I love that R2 has enormous battles, but I find the maps don't have a lot of memorable places for firefights.

Is anyone else on right now, should be on in a bit. Had to leave work early to take care of my daughter as my wife is too sick to do so. Plus good excuse to catch up on Netflix queue and play video games.

Am I the only one who finds playing as soldier waaaay more boring than medic/spec ops? I am only lvl 3 with soldier though so maybe it gets better as you go along but just holding R1 while being behind a cover is kinda... boring?

I played some competitive games last night for the first time since like the day after Christmas. Had some fun and I also accepted Dunlop and Jer to the clan I believe but I could be mistaken >_<.

I just got finished beating the Mother Spinner and restoring the power to the North Tower in Idaho Falls. Now they say I'm going to Station Genesis in Utah to resuce (?) Malikov? WTF? When did he go there and who am I rescuing him from? This is not explained
I wish it didn't kick everybody out when your done with a match and had everybody stay like in Cod4. I know if it did do that, there would be the host leaving problem like in Cod4. But, staying with the same people makes the game funner as you develop friendships and rivalries with people. Plus, getting booted to the main menu every time is really tedious and boring, and it doesn't make me wanna keep playing. Unlike in Cod4, right when the match ends, the time ticks down for the next match and you get excited again.
Level 18 as a medic now, woot. Had my best round ever today, 23 pieces of Gray Tech and roughly ~73000 exp. points on one single level. Made me feel like a mini-God.

Shut up ! You are not allowed to say anything good about the SP !! :lol
Luckily we already left the 'hate' stage ,and now we are in the 'this game is tonz of fun i want moar' stage.
So I played till the place where the grimps show up the first time. My opinion? GAF is totally out of it's mind for bashing the game so hard. I REALLY was enjoing it so far. The atmosphere and the grapchis in the orick wood were AWESOME. I only walked slowly, listening to every noise, finger always on the trigger...one of the most intense gaming moments I had in this gen. The grapchis are good to awesome, most of the time they are very good. The gunplay is very enjoyable. The atmosphere is ace, Stillman adds A LOT to it.
Especially the atmosphere in the chimera ship was great!
Nothing is perfect, get over it, but the criticsm for R2 in this thread went through the roof. I completly understand the Insomniac guys if they don't post here anymore. There were people who said that R2 is the worst game they every played. WTF!? Seriously!
What I don't like so far:
- Voices are often not loud enough, especially while you are fighting. You don't understand a word
- the game does a poor job in connecting the different locations so far (despite the chimera alien ship, that was cool). The whole story aspect seems underdevolped, although the cutscenes are great
- too much contrast and color (it's too dark sometimes, I bet they went that way because UE3 got a lot of positive comments about the graphics)
That's it, everything else is great, and considering the huge huge online-part R2 is one of the best games this year (if you like shooters). I'm enjoying the game a lot more than Gears 2 so far and although the lighting isn't perfect at least it has some lighting at all. That doesn't mean that I think the lighting is bad...in some areas it's great. Looking forward to play more and to level my SpecOps.
This post basically expresses all my likes and dislikes about the game. Finishing up single player now, and really like the environments, models, weapons, etc., but the lack of narration or scenes that actually explain in between sections really hurts the story.
I think this is a direct result of them wanting Resistance Retribution (PSP) to be a bridge between 1 and 2. Thats cool and all, but R2 could have still told a complete story with some minor/major revelations added through the PSP game.
Also it would be nice if your squadmates didnt sound like they were talking to you through a radio, when you are right next to em:lol
Oh and is there any chance that we can revive the GAF R2 co-op/competitive clan? Or is it pretty much dead now?
