No they exist (well, unless GameCenter lied to me)

Don't think they would have mint condition machines of Western arcade games, though.

What the fuck?
they exist. but they aren't as aethestically pleasing as the western counterparts. most japanese arcade games use generic cabs, where as the American cabs are typically much more elaborate.

Well, I think you can make a good case that 1980s style video game arcades were the highpoint of civilization, at least culturally.

So this is understandable. I'm surprised there aren't UFO landings at such places.

Huh, funny I was under the impression that it was the exactly opposite...

Western cabinets had art and other crazy designs going on, and Japanese cabinets just had the game for the most part. I could be wrong, but this is what I've seen from some of the classic Japanese cabinets.

One of the biggest examples was the xmen cabinet. It's not "vintage" but the two versions of the cabinet are so different.

I gotta bump this thread. Folks, Funspot needs our help, they need to raise $1840 in the next two and a half weeks to buy some arcade games from a private collector. Can we help them out?

More info right here:

http://www.classicarcademuseum.org

ACAM has been approached by a private collector with an offer to purchase games from his collection. The games being offered are pieces we do not have in our collection: Space Dungeon, Mad Planets, Solar Fox, Disc of Tron and Black Widow. The agreed price is $3,650 of which we have already received $1,810 in donations leaving a balance of $1,840. We have until Sunday, January 15th to raise the remaining amount and would appreciate your help in obtaining these pieces for the museum. Donations can be made via the ChipIn widget.
