Is the first picture in the upside down?

Can't you see why people are dissapointed? Within 24 hours we've had leaks of the PS4 slim which a lot of people think looks ugly, it has no 4k media capabilities, PS Plus is going up in cost and now this controller which looks like Sony hasn't listened to any consumer feedback at all and have just stuck another lightbar in the DS4.

The point of the slim is to reduce Sony's manufacturing and shipping costs, not to add a ton of new features.

It doesn't turn on, he appears to be in a car.

Wait a minute, they've made a new DS4, but it doesn't let me control my PS4 from my car?!

Damn those arrogant Sony dastards; they've ruined my life, and the lives of everyone I've ever met. The fact that my ruined life will be made more visible by the actinic light of the DS4 lightbar serves only to add further insult.

Am I doing it right? Does it need more LOLs and suchlike?

Wait since when does a few people on Neogaf equal to a LOT of people? Are these "people" the vast majority of the public? Nope. I think the slim looks perfectly fine and is similar to the PS3 slim. Again, 4K is very niche and it's not something the general consesus will look into when buying a games console. PS+ is a shame but it's expected and if gamers can spend thier money on a hobby they vastly enjoy why can't they support it and enjoy it further? Finally, we have no idea what this controller functions yet so just hold on and see. Patience is a virtue...something Neogaf doesn't have it seems.

This. People confuse the Slim with Neo.

Slim is just to reduce costs. Neo is the new toy.

Whats the point of the xbox 360 s, and xbox one s which both added more and reduced price?
To trick you into buying the almost same console again before Scorpio arrives and you buy that too?

With this top lightbar, and I'm just shooting in the dark here, but to me this is going to be the way to allow users to turn off the main light and just have the tiny LED instead. They can get all the visual info they need, in a way that's more friendly and easier to access in fact.

That would indeed alleviate the issue where the light reflects in your TV, which in my view is the only legitimate gripe about the light bar.

Thank you I understand that a company's main goal is to maximise revenue but at the same time Sony also has to balance that out with selling points to the consumer.

If Microsoft say £250 for an Xbox with 4k Blu Ray and streaming, it is arrogant for Sony to put out a Slim with no added features at all.

Xbox 360s was to redesign defective hardware once and for all, to eliminate a multi-billion dollar hardware problem

Xbox One s is about bringing lapsed Xbox gamers back into the fold. I thought that was obvious.

The light people are talking about looks more like the regular light is showing through the plastic of the touchpad.

So much we don't know about the Slim and revision DS4, might as well overreact.

Just how in the world do you know that they didn't address those issues? HOW?

I swear, the hyperbole on this forum is insane.

Yeah those were my thoughts exactly. How does making a part of the touchpad transparent = they haven't addressed any of the issues?

And yeah the hyperbole and echo chamber is becoming unbearable

Is it arrogant of Sony that a video game machine does video games better than One S?

To sell you a entire new console that fools you and is almost the same before Scopio arrives 1 year later?

I wrote it wrong lol, I meant to type then why Xbox 360s, and xbox one s both reduce price and comes with more features.. idk what I was thinking before.

Revised probably just means cheaper. Whatever they had in the OG DS4 to block the light from showing at the top was probably cut out to save money.

Really hope that the Neo is modeled after the base PS4 controller included.

Because both the Xbox 360 s and one s were about correcting issues with launch hardware. Sony is typical more tone deaf in this regard as the research shows, the primary market for slim hardware is the casual market, not the hardcore replacing launch hardware.

How did you simultaneously portray the slim model from Sony as an economically wise decision and the slim model from Microsoft as a dastardly deceitful machine in one single post.

Like that's a mental wonder of the world.

Woah! Really? How many companies did they look at? Did they separate different divisions within a company? Sony pictures wouldn't come out looking too hot in that case.

Man, battery waster or not, I'm a fan of the light bar and I like the new one too. They certainly should improve the battery's life though.

I don't get why people don't understand the Xbox One S is also made to reduce cost. Perhaps because it packs in 4K and it looks premium? Dunno?

Is this a real post?

So when Sony releases a Slim less than a year from Neo, it's "All good, cost cutting".

But when Microsoft releases a Slim more than a year from Scorpio they're tricksters?

What the fuck?

No.

It wasn't arrogant when the N64 was more powerful than the PSX.

It wasn't arrogant when the Cube and Xbox were more powerful than the PS2.

It wasn't arrogant when 360 ran all multiplats better due to Cell.

Now Sony have the most powerful console for the first time (which will last until the Scorpio comes out next year) and that's a bragging point is it?

I've never liked Sony consoles just for gaming. It's always been because they do games/CDs/DVDs/Blu Rays when no one else did. Now they are saying "no 4k media for the base model, you have to buy the premium" whilst MS is doing it in both base and premium.

Are some of you actually Sony shareholders or something? You're just coming at it from Sony's POV (profit, profit, profit) rather than actual consumers who should want more for less.

Right? Or why is MS releasing a Slim with the Scorpio a year away? Nobody's going to buy it, but then Sony releases a slim and (probably) the Neo within a month of each other and they get that. It's wild.

Indeed.

Spencer even went as far as downplaying the benefits of the XB1 slim and recommended XB1 owners do not buy it.

I can't see how anyone can have a problem with the way MS handled the slim. The size comparison was a bit dodgy though.

I have a launch PS4, still using the controller that came with the system and have put in 100's of hours of play time on it. The sticks started deteriorating at the 8 month mark so I got some gel caps. Other than that I have had ZERO issues with it. Still works great, battery life is great, the Light Bar has never bothered me (I do have it on Dim, though once that setting was available)

So I guess I don't get the overreaction to this slight modification to the controller. There are certain games that use the color of the Lightbar for various things (I think there is a game where it will turn red when your "special" attack is available for instance). Maybe they just wanted to add a sliver of the light bar on the touch pad so the player is more aware of what color it is (Since it is hard to distinguish otherwise at times.) Or Maybe it will enhance VR as some of you have said. Either one of those is fine by me and I just don't get the negative uproar.

How about we wait to hear more about it before we jump to conclusions on battery life and build quality and anything else negative you can think of.

drawing of P and S, good

drawing of X, bad, no like so much

Did the same person make both statements? If not, then you have no point to make. At all.

I agree with this.

The DS4 isn't the best controller put out but the over reactions are comical

Sony making all the bold moves.

* Increase PS plus price at the same service level.
* Redesigned PS4 slim model that looks ugly as sin
* Redesigned Dualshock 4 to have more annoying lights that not only cause reflections on the television; but shine right in your face.

Let's see how this plays off.
