My dad to me just now walking in the door:

"You hear that Michael Jackson kicked the can? Probably some drugs or something."

Yes, oh great sensitive father of mine :P

Michael Jackson is fucking awesome and I would never say a bad word about the guy, but what you're saying makes no sense.

Is it really that hard to understand? Pretty straightforward statement I thought. Making a pathetic joke to get some e-attention is pretty tasteless.

Off-beat question: What does this do to the Beatles music library? Is it possible they may finally be released to distributors like iTunes?

Many people are sad at Jackson's passing since he was a brilliant musician who inspired others with his work and had a huge effect on American pop culture. Some are happy at this death since he was a pedophile who may have destroyed lives. If you can't respect that then I feel sorry for you.

hmmm...But he's not.

Damn, I guess this thing didn't work!

Your attempts at humour sometimes isn't even remotely close to the supposed funny... but I guess it's that whole chesnut of the internet makes normal people go loopy.

RIP, I know its sad but Its was really great living in the era when Jackson was in his prime. Practically set the stage for Pop music. Its scary how well his music still holds up, fuck, his music is better than most of the crap out there today.

I can not believe this day has come. You think about such matters from time to time and then go back to your daily life. And now it is done, he is forever gone. This universe is so cruel and strange. Everything will end, even the ones who have it the best.

You didn't know him. You only think you did because you liked his music. I'm not going to start bawling my eyes out about someone I didn't know in the slightest (and what I did know about him wasn't that pleasant).
Here's some attention. Is that enough? Do you need some more?

Ugh, I'm not a huge fan of Jacko or anything but I got a feeling this thread might turn into a trainwreck. Im out, news has broken nothing left to say.

Emotions are running high and on the other side people are indignant at the effect of celebrity/wealth on (presumed) guilt. And let's not forget the attention whores.

Everyone keep calm though!

Peace.

If you actually read the court transcripts you wouldn't think for a second he was guilty.

Hmmm...where not really the time or place, but can you give an example?

or pm?

RIP MJ

Nobody is perfect in this world. He's gone now, can't some of you assholes just lay off him?

I'd peg the average age of people who are making jokes about Michael Jackson's death as no later than high school. No maturity, no class, and probably no real awareness of the guy's musical output.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

This assumes people don't do this all the time. You need thicker skin.

You also have to keep in mind that there is an entire new generation of young adults that have no concept of Michael Jackson's music, but only his antics and drama. This death doesn't mean anything to them.

I consider the jokes a tribute to his enormous popularity and impact on the world.

Time to make a MJ playlist.

I am shocked that MTV is actually playing videos,
MJ is one of the big reasons MTV blew up from the early 80s on. They owe a lot to him.

My first time seeing Smooth Criminal. The coin flip. The white suit with blue arm band. The leaning at the insane angle that a 8 year old me tried to replicate endlessly.

Dang man. Hope you have peace, Michael.

Negatory. It'll get tied up with the rest of Jackson's estate, almost certainly. Considering the likely feeding frenzy that's coming, I imagine some law firm is going to end up selling it off to cover litigation.
