Rising Thunder - new PC, UE4, Free-to-Play fighter from Seth Killian

Just got my code as well. I'll give it a shot even though I'm terribad at fighting games. And only have a 360 controller, so analog stick wheeeeee!

Keyboard works really really well.

Unrelated to that, so far Dauntless seems to be this games Ken. I figured it'd be Chell, but so far every opponent I've faced but 2 have been Dauntless.

I'm liking Crow but I can't think of anything to do with him.

Game doesnt seem to recognize any of my sticks or the hori fighting commander 3 :(
Gave it a whirl with keyboard and looks like it cool be quite fun

i suck at fighting games

lost my first one but had some cool moments. really easy to understand. going to have to find the right groove with keybindings on my xbox one controller though.

I had fun!

Well, I got in but I can't even get any matches because no matter how I set up my connection/router it says it can't find the UDP port despite me forwarding it. I dunno if that's a Windows 10 issue but that's pretty disappointing. :/

I suck at fighting games but I really fucking hate Crow. Spammable anti air and invisibility -_-

Talos is pretty frightening too.

Playing Edge, like him but I feel outranged by certain characters pretty hard.

I had the stupidest smile on my face while playing this
I can't remember the last time I had this much fun with a fighting game

my vlad was on a roll there for a minute. I was on a pretty big win streak. Im getting some sweet flight cancel mix ups going.

It could be related to my recent updated to Windows 10 but I don't seem to be able to progress past a blank screen. Anyone else hit this and figure out a workaround?

Yeah I like this game, had a few matches online. Mostly been trying Dauntless so far.

Guys I'm doing FADC combos after an hour.

I couldn't do this after 7 YEARS of sf4. I'm in love.

Sheeit, same here. It just happened so naturally and now I can do it without any issues. I still need practice though.

Just tried this out, disconnected in my first match :(

I did try it out in training, and it's very cool so far. It feels very natural to play with the keyboard, and the six button setup seems to be a smart decision. The characters all have a lot more personality than I thought they would, and the languages are a brilliant little touch. I wish there were subtitles so that I could actually tell what they were saying though.

EDIT:

After two online matches, I'm really impressed at how slick and functional it is in its mechanics and its online in this alpha state. This is definitely one to watch, at least for scrubs like me.

Got the key yesterday but only really got some time to try it right now. Lots of weird stutter even on low ping matches, although some were pretty much perfect. Getting my ass handed to me, I've no idea what I'm doing, but then again I never was all that good with fighters.

Not sure how I feel about the one button specials with cooldowns and the cancels, as a scrub I'm not really sure it's making it all that more accessible. Will still keep at it, haven't played a fighter in a while.

Keyboard and controller are NOT doing it for me. Too many buttons. Too bad the game, or win 10, or SOMETHING, refuses to allow my Qanba to communicate with the game. I tried it in PC and 360 mode, no love. Buttons activate fine on the controller settings test screen.

EDIT: Oh, haha, seems to be working now. I wonder if my DS4 programs, or merely having it plugged in were doing it. Thought I tested those...

The game feels like a capcom game and:

I'm very happy for Radiant studio. I knew Killian and the Cannons wouldn't put out garbage. The game feels fun. Here is my constructive criticism:

Steal SFV's screen shake for big impacts. It really feels great, don't it? Especially for new players.

I feel like the game would work best with 6 face button fighting gamepads/sticks. Using a regular xbox one controller wasn't too great for the special attacks. But this may go away with practice.

I don't know how I feel about the cooldown concept. Maybe it's something you get used to, but right now, it's hard to keep track of 3 cooldown counters ontop of everything else going on.

Maybe it would be possible to consolidate the 3 counters into one and assign different costs to different moves. I realize it lacks the granularity of the current system, but maybe it would be worth it testing it out among players and collecting feedback on it.

Netcode feels solid, I understand and approve of the idea of having different country chars speak different languages but not everybody will appreciate it, so a language option by char as in SF4 will be useful. You've probably already were planning on it.

Performance is more than good enough for an alpha.
Hope it helps!

Damn, a lot of people must have gotten keys in the past 24 hours. Population went from 450 to 1400 since yesterday.

If your stick isnt working, it's because the game only supports xinput at the moment, meaning xbox controllers/pads/sticks only.

So chel's alternate uppercut doesn't give you a free juggle like the default, anyone know what it gains? Obviously safer if you whiff it, what else?

I might've gotten to play this once or twice before!

It's a lot of fun, to be honest, but the bad connections are so awful that I'm taking a break.

Hey, I know you! You used to play third strike with ryu and your bnb combo was jump fierce -> cr fierce -> tatsu.

Welcome to gaf!

Getting used to Kinetic Advance now, it's basically like FADC but easier and for an Alpha, this game is pretty damn good imo. Great connection the majority of the time and a good range of different characters....I'm really excited to see what new moves every character get and also what newer characters they'll put out.

I'm still too at fighting games to do anything side from neutral

Crow is a lot of fun, but I feel like my playstyle will be a salt factory, since I mainly turtle with his close projectile and put up his bubble as bait.

Oh well. Time to go watch that combo vid shoryuken posted and see if I can unscrub myself.

Why do you hate me, game?

Soul Cleaver (Crow's Alt S2) is just a lot better than Core Puncture unless I'm missing something?

If you whiff soul cleaver he still does the second kick - Paints a giant target on your back. Also one of them has superior air usage, but I can't recall which right now...
