Out of all The Decemberists songs they could have chosen, The Perfect Crime is literally the worst choice they could have made.

It's easily, without a doubt, 100% the worst song they've ever made. Granted, I didn't really listen to Hazards of Love because I didn't really love The Crane Wife, but come on.

it was the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect the perfect crime

I always seem to find their singles to be the worst songs on their albums. I would love to see one of their more epic songs in Rock Band 3 like The Island-Come & See/The Landlord’s Daughter/You’ll Not Feel The Drowning, The Mariner's Revenge Song, Odalisque, or The Tain.

A reminder of today's official DLC:

Blondie – “Rapture”
dc Talk – “Jesus Freak”
The Decemberists – “The Perfect Crime # 2”
Eagles of Death Metal – “I Only Want You”
Eels – “Saturday Morning”
Family Force 5 – “Love Addict”
KMFDM – “Sturm & Drang”
La Roux – “Bulletproof”

And here's today's RBN releases:

Everyone's in the variety spirit. I'm obliged to promote Magician, since it's my release (even though Markleford all but re-authored it). Plus it's really good on guitar and drums.

Finally got to play the Juanes music, as well as the Gaga songs. Lots of fun, especially singing.

But singing in Spanish is quite the challenge. Juanes sings rather quickly, especially Yerbatero. I had to look up the lyrics, hahaha

Actually, I saw Jason Rosenbaum (another RBN author) tweeted this:

So, I guess there's at least an effort underway.

Voted. It's really, really weird that they won't let me purchase their product.

It's rather annoying, really. I want to buy Buster Voodoo and The Main Drag's album.

The only problem is that the Rock Band Network store always crashes on my PS3, I don't think I can even make it far enough to purchase the song. I've had the same issue with the normal store but at least it works fine like half of the time aside from the background image stuttering.

Am I the only one having this problem?

Nope, I have it, too. I just go straight to the Playstation Store and purchase it there. I have no idea why both the Rock Band Store and the Rock Band Network are so crazily unstable.

what are the odds we get more vidya game dlc?
some blazblue tracks would be awesome in this game
lots of them even have keyboard

Video game songs can be pretty tricky to license, and I don't see Harmonix doing any outside of promotional projects. The demand isn't as prominent. There's always RBN (I know some 'Splosion Man songs are working their way in that) but it's a pretty tough route to take, it can be hard to convince studios.

Speaking of, today's RBN releases:

O Come O Come Emmanuel has been unpublished, as apparently the rhythm guitar portion of the song was off by an entire measure all the way through. Nobody thought to check against an mp3, so nobody noticed.

Eh. I am fine with them holding back the awesome DLC until RB3. CCR was just one last hurrah for me then.

Of course, I will not complain about awesome DLC before RB3 either, unless it is something that begs for keyboard or harmony support.

And when the hell are we going to find out the rest of the RB3 setlist?

Exactly how I feel, on all points.

When did the RB2 setlist start to leak fully? I can't remember the timeframe, but it seems like it was pretty close to release (maybe within a month or so).

WHAT MORE COULD YOU POSSIBLY WANT?!?!?

AM I LIVING IN CRAZILAND?

I mean it's the best DLC ever....yeesh

It's three songs. I have more than that in development right now. (Which is becoming a bit of a headache in all honesty.)

It leaked before E3, so they were just like "fuck it" and announced it all then.

The RB2 setlist leak was actually really funny, because there were two of them in the weeks leading up to E3 2008 and they both (eventually) were correct. One of them had a lot of on-disc songs on there in addition to future DLC, while the other nailed the entire setlist, which prompted them to reveal the entire thing at their presentation during MS's press conference.

But one of the songs is going to be the most fun song in the world to play ever.

That's like saying a movie isn't the best movie ever because it's only one movie and oh my production company is working on seven times that. (Which is becoming a bit of a headache in all honesty.)

:lol

Shrug. I don't give a crap about Ministry. Didn't the first time they got a pack, don't now.

September 14 is gonna be 3 songs of Linkin Parks new album, and 6 classics. CANT WAIT!
Joke or real? Either way, I cannot be bothered. I just want a lil nugget of goodness for DLC before RB3 hits. Either on RBN or regular DLC.

No one should care about DLC, unless it's a band that you like, until RB3 is out because of pro mode, keyboard, etc.
Gotta have something to satisfy until then though. As I said above, the only time I will get mad at DLC until RB3 comes out is if it is something that would benefit from keys and harmonies. Pro mode stuff would be nice too, but I am going to be waiting to get the realtar anyways.

The PS3 RBN songs for Tuesday are lame. Can't wait until New Pornographers' "Crash Years" and Sunny Day Real Estate's "Seven" clear that damn exclusivity window!

Definitely will get the Ministry pack. Been jerked around with substandard KMFDM tracks 'til now. Though would have like the live version of Stigmata with the fucks.

Join the dark side for RB3! Jump in to 360.

It is too bad that they dont have a way to transfer your DLC for RB from PS3 to 360 and vice versa. Kind of make it work on the platform as long as you are signed on. It is impossible I know, but with something like Steam on the consoles it would work.

I know. I'll pick up stuff by bands that I enjoy but if they were to release something like Coldplay or Keane before RB3, I'd be pissed.

Glad we're getting more New Pornagraphers, Sleater-Kinney and Band of Horses but when will we see the Fleet Foxes songs? Also, more Hold Steady please.

Fleet Foxes might not be happening anymore. They've vanished from RockGamer's website, and from the way Chris phrased their policy on that it sounded like they're not coming back.

The low probability of GG/BB tracks coming to RockBand makes me very, very sad.

I would purchase these tracks in a heartbeat.

GG/BB being...?

I'm looking for suggestions of independent labels you want to see in Rock Band. I won't guarantee I'll talk to everyone, or that anyone I do talk to will come on board with RBN. But I'll at least try.

G&P Records
Palm Pictures
Shout Factory
Studio E Records

(i.e. Local H/Scott Lucas albums not released by Island)

Someone dealing with RBN needs to cut a deal with Hellcat Records. I would kill for some psychobilly in this game. Tiger Army and Nekromantix especially.

They have a pretty good stable though:
Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards
The Heart Attacks
Dropkick Murphys
Horrorpops
Tiger Army
Nekromantix
The Unseen

So I bought a couple of the Lady Gaga songs, I'm not that familiar with her music but "Bad Romance" is some good, embarrassing fun on the mic. Also got the Band of Horses RBN songs, they're awesome but I had to buy them through the PS store since the goddamn menu option in Rock Band 2 insta crashes even on my new system.

And some more Rancid wouldn't be too bad either. I'll drop Hector a line.

In case people are interested, a RB1 classic ("Cheat on the Church" by Graveyard BBQ) is slated for RBN release tomorrow.

Aw man, that was my most anticipated RBN DLC. Bummer.

Needs more Sleater-Kinney and at a faster rate.

specifically "Dig Me Out" in its entirety. (or at least the song "Words and Guitar")

Also, I am surprised that Tegan And Sara songs aren't in the game yet. Seriously what the hell? Gotta bug their management again.

Yes, that's a bummer. I would have loved Fleet Foxes, I'll kill for White Winter Hymnal to be available on Rock Band.
Actually, my number one most wanted DLC that will probably never happen is Jeff Buckley's Grace album, I seriously would cry. It would be great for vocals and guitar.

But the first pack was horrible songs that Al's done recently. This pack are great songs Al did back when he was doing good music.

there there. I feel the same way about the Ministry choices you do. Three awesome songs...I just wish they had been in the first pack instead of the second.

I'm down with that. I like their last album but I'd love some of the old stuff. Also, "Arrow" by Tegan and Sara was part of the last "leaked" setlist that's getting more and more confirmed.

I don't own a 360 nor do I have any plans to do so.

Matinee Recordings (Math & Physics Club)
Slumberland (Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Crystal Stilts, etc.)
Arts & Crafts Records (Broken Social Scene, Stars, etc.)

I know it's been recommended already, but Rough Trade would be fantastic. The Smiths, The Libertines, The Strokes, Belle and Sebastian, British Sea Power, The Long Blondes to name but a few.

Also One Little Indian which hosts Bjork, Asobi Seksu, Sigur Ros and Paul McCartney.

I just checked out the Rock Band Network stuff for the first time. Holy shit! That's where Harmonix has been hiding all of the good DLC recently: The Shins, The Slip, Band of Horses.

Fuck yeah.
