Apparently Error420 has been 'down' for the weekend, it's not updating. But there are new RBN songs:

Blackberry River Band - I've Got a Feeling || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
Brownies - Fool || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
The Fury - Picture Perfect || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
Hilit Rosental and Corbomite Games - The Pizza Morgana Song || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
Kirby Krackle - Ring Capacity || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
The Knew - United || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
Kramus - Down Below || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
The New Pornographers - Your Hands (Together) || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
Rhune Kincaid - iPhone || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
Sophie B. Hawkins - Beautiful Girl || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
Teenage Bottlerocket - Skate or Die || full version (80 MSP) || trial version

Interesting little mix. Some more New Pornographers to tease distantmantra with, the theme song to an adventure game, a song for the upcoming Green Lantern movie.... Plus later this week we should be getting the first single from the newest Modern Skirts album, and the first Broadway-style song courtesy of Stagehands.

And more fuel for me to harrass Harmonix with on Facebook and the official forums.

I'm sure they're happy to be bugged about a band that isn't Muse.

Thx Charron

No prob. They won't be in the store until tomorrow (Labor Day and all that) but you can grab 'em now through those links if you really want.

For those not wanting to watch the video, the big news is that standard RB3 DLC (with keyboards!) will cost the same as it does now, but there will be an undetermined and optional charge for adding Pro guitar charts to the songs that will get them.

So they could go back and and Pro Guitar to older songs if they wanted :D

Unfortunately, it's not going to be that simple because they would have to gain access to the tracks again, re-license them and re-mix the tracks to support the RB3 features. It's been mentioned before that stuff like keyboards and backing vocals are often lumped into the same audio stream, which would result in having to re-chart the instruments accordingly. I'm confident that we will be seeing legacy DLC being upgraded, but it's not going to be a blowout by any means.

The mixing factor only really rules out keys and harmonies, which are looking to be part of the 'base' DLC package. (Pro keys may be in there too, dunno.) They could create Pro Guitar/Bass add-ons to old DLC without having to remix. Re-license, yea probably, but not remix.

Not looking for a blowout, just a few of the tracks I really enjoy playing that have sold pretty well.

All I care about are the keys and harmonies!

I'd be really surprised if they kept Pro keys for the upgrade, since it's going to be standard for RBN tracks once 2.0 releases. I would wager that the breakdown will end up like this:

-all legacy modes, along with harmonies, Pro drums and Pro keys for $2

-Pro guitar and Pro bass charts, complete with trainers, for an additional $1-$2

-legacy DLC with upgrades will likely end up costing $2 again, with the same option for Pro guitar/bass

Yea, that's pretty much my expectation. I'm a little curious how they'll implement two-piece DLC like this, but it's not too crazy a challenge to overcome. And it'll mean, effectively, DLC prices remain the same, which is a great psychological boost. If prices went up, people would complain.

Thanks for the info, I saw a few posts suggesting it was rerecorded or specially recorded but I wasn't sure.

I was wrong

"Eight songs specifically reproduced for Rock Band and originally featured on a variety of albums spanning Snoop’s impressive career"

The RB.com forum announcement didn't mention it so I thought it was just rumor.

Yep, from listening they seem to be new takes. And from checking the message of the day there was supposed to be nine songs, not eight... I know the MotD is written well in advance for translation's sake, so I gotta wonder if the ninth got held up instead of straight-up not happening.

And the album names are inconsistent. This bothers me. >_<

But prices are going up.. if you want to use the new features in RB3.

Is There a Ghost
The Funeral
No One's Gonna Love You
The Great Salt Lake

The first 2 are on PS3 and are awesome songs.

wish they'd bring the remaining 2 over to PS3... Band of Horses is one of the best bands on RBN.

I believe they said keys will be included in DLC from launch forward for the same price, but Pro charts will cost extra.

And I suspect the base package will have Pro keys, since RBN can have that as well.

It's the same price for the same 'level' of thing, it's only when you go to a bigger package that it costs more.

I hope the XNA Community gets their hands on toold for the keyboard soon.

Imagine the epicness of classical masterpieces (free of rights, no ?) in RB.

Even better, songs by Patrick Wolf.

Charron, since you have an inside look at things...

How hard would it be to chart Buster Voodoo for Pro-Guitar?

I'm going to go with "incredibly hard". It's hard enough to author stuff of that caliber just for five frets.

And we get the keys authoring shortly after RB3 releases. There's already some re-imagined classical works up, focused on guitar/bass/drums, and anything that does go up would have to be recomposed anyway so you're not covering someone else's take on a classical work.

Harmonix is clearly afraid of my wrath. :lol

So you must be the "processing problem" they had. :p

And since everyone is wetting their collective pants over it, I guess someone here might care: "The Touch" by Stan Bush is in playtest right now.

Meshuggah Bleed is up on the RBN now. I dont know if that happened before or not but holy fuck is that awesome. I hope this means that we will get New Millenium Cyanide Christ. That is one of my most wanted songs of all time.

Ridley327 said:
That song has actually been up since June.

Why is it listed first today? I never noticed it before and I clicked on the RBN today to see what is up this week and it was the first thing I saw. I cant believe people didnt make a huge deal about it before.

Ridley327 said:
There's probably not that many people excited for Meshuggah?

I dunno.

I think they are one of the most interesting bands to ever be in a game like this, and I never would have thought it possible.

I know two guys in this band from High School. Holy crap!

Could you tell them to go back to their piano rock sorta stuff? I'm not sure I'm feeling this newer psychedelic kinda sound.

They were big Beatles and Beach Boys fans. One of their dads was a teacher at the HS and he talked about the Beatles all the freakin' time. I've got both of their albums and there's a few psychedelic moments on them but the majority of their material sounds like the first song they put on RBN, "Everready". I imagine that if they put more stuff up, its going to sound more like that. I don't really dig Bridges and Overpasses either.

Yea, I really hope they do My Bully and NY Song (but hold that for RBN2.0). But I guess they have a good relationship with Mickstafa, so they may be doing more.

Is the list of what Linkin Park songs that are coming next week out yet?

that was a horrible sentence

Do we know what LP tracks will be out next week?

I honestly thought they wouldn't update until tomorrow. Today's RBN songs:

22-20s - Latest Heartbreak || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
Firewind - World on fire || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
Stagehands - Welcome to Our Town || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
Terrorhorse - Modern Mathematics || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
The New Pornographers - Your Hands (Together) || full version (160 MSP) || trial version

Not surprisingly, Scorehero's all over Terrorhorse 'cause it's stupid hard, and not surprisingly I'm gonna pimp Stagehands 'cause I authored it (and c'mon, it's the first song from/for a musical in the game). And The New Pornographers are actually up now! So hooray for that.
