Rock Band DLC Announcements

On 360? I just downloaded it this afternoon. It should be one of the first entries on the RB page on the marketplace. I don't think I saw it under new releases on the in-game RB store, though. Loved playing the bass part on This Charming Man. :D Hopefully they're withholding more songs until RB3 launches.

Referring to the Megamix? They put it up a little while ago but pulled it from the store because vocals are broken. We're waiting on word that it's been patched.

"Legends" is official.

Bob Marley fans may be wondering whether the rumor we posted earlier this week about "Legend" coming to "Rock Band" as DLC would turn out to be true. Well, good news, as we just received the official confirmation from the "Rock Band" folks that all thirteen tracks from the classic record are coming to the "Rock Band" music store on September 21.

The full track list, which will be available for download on September 21 (US) and September 22 (Europe) on Wii, 360 and PS3, is as follows:

• "Is This Love" +
• "No Woman No Cry" +
• "Could You Be Loved"
• "Three Little Birds" +
• "Buffalo Soldier"
• "Stir It Up"
• "One Love/People Get Ready"
• "I Shot the Sheriff"
• "Waiting in Vain" +
• "Redemption Song"
• "Satisfy My Soul" +
• "Exodus"
• "Jamming"

(While all of the tracks will be available in the standard "Rock Band" music score, the tracks marked with a "+" are also available in the "LEGO Rock Band" music score, which only contains music appropriate for all-ages.)

Here's a rundown of the pricing structure for the songs:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per song
$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points) per song
$19.99, £9.99 UK, €14.99 EU (1,080 Microsoft Points) for the complete "Legend" album

I asked this a long time ago but lost the reply.

My friend and his band (they're not a small band, they've been on Yo Gabba Gabba!) are finishing up their second album and wanted to know how to get a track or two up on the RBN.

Anyone got some advice?

PM me their Myspace/website and a contact email.

It's going to be weird if the songs on Legend aren't RB3-ready, considering one of the songs is in the RB3 set list with all those new features. Really hoping they snuck it in there somehow.

Legends is official from Henry's mouth, and the RBN store got an update:

My Morning Jacket - I'm Amazed || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
Otep - Smash the Control Machine || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
Pythia - Army of the Damned || full version (160 MSP) || trial version

And the PS3 RBN selections:

The Summer Set - "Chelsea"
Exodus - "Riot Act"
The New Pornographers - "Crash Years"

Someone page distantmantra.

Yay for Marley and My Morning Jacket! Though listening to the Marley stuff again I hope they can go back and patch in keys, there's lots of interesting piano/keyboard stuff in those songs.

Marley tomorrow, but for today we get these off RBN:

Barefoot Truth - Threads || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
Gov't Mule - Steppin' Lightly || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
Nautiluz - Chasing the Light || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
The Novocaines - Cup of Coffee || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
SexTon - Ready for Anything || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
Slim Cessna's Auto Club - Americadio || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
Van Friscia - Epic Symphony in A Flat Minor, First Movement: Marching Out || full version (80 MSP) || trial version

Nautiluz is Dragonforce Lite, Cup of Coffee is a really short but solid garage rock track, and Van Friscia's song is as fun as its title is long (though I've scored a Midimidis track that beats it on that front, at 88 characters).

It's Marley day! Fair warning, "No Woman No Cry" sounds like a live take, and "Redemption Song" is guitar/vocals only.

And the RBN tracks for today:

Amy Courts - Shiver || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
New Rising Son - Holy Ground || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
Pink Flag - Roman Candle || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
Ultra Saturday - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang || full version (80 MSP) || trial version

Later this week (maybe tomorrow, even) we'll see Iron & Wine and The Shins show up as well.

I guess some reggae is better than no reggae.

i feel the same way. its cool that a Marley album is out and all, but i dont really want to play any of those songs. some of them may be fun... but eh.

as per usual there is so much better material that they could be putting out. i can think of 10 reggae albums off the top of my head that id rather play.

But CCR is. You bastards. :p

agreed!

also PS3 user should hop on that Reo/Styx pack. that shit is badass.

I agree about the reggae stuff. Anything is better than nothing.

Also, another recommendation for the REO/Styx pack. One of the most played packs at parties here. Now if only we could get keys and harmonies on it, if just for "Renegade" and "Roll With the Changes."

Ooh Doobie Brothers. I'll buy it at a high price.

Thrash is always a lot of fun to play, Metallica is the best pack, so I'll get the Anthrax stuff once I get a working drum controller. Nice update.

Quick question - If I take my 360 HD to a friends and use it on his console, will I still be able to access any DLC tracks when not connected to the internet?

You would need to do a license transfer in order to make that happen *or* take the entire 360 with you and play on that.

Oh my god!!! The first dlc since Gaga that has made me soooooo excited and wish I could immediately buy it upon reading what it was.

Anthrax?! Fuck yeah!!! Not too hyped on live songs (I never am), but they are mine.
MCR? I'm not a huge fan but I dug The Black Parade, I'll take 'em.
Atreyu?! Fuck ye-oh wait, it's post-A Death Grip on Yesterday, so never mind. Might get it anyway, but anything off The Curse or maybe Lip Gloss and Black woulda been insta-buy.
Long Train Running? I typically don't sing in RB, I have Lips to get rid of my karaoke fixation, but Doobie Brothers here I come.

Damn I cannot wait to play the solo in Indians..."WAR DANCE!" \m/

I'm actually curious to see the live Madhouse. Strangely enough, it's been the only song that hasn't shown up on any of their live albums, so we're potentially looking at a situation similar to the live KISS pack where they're recordings that we've never actually heard before (minus the intrepid bootlegger, of course).

Next week's RBN tracks for the PS3 and Wii:

Here's the songs coming to RBN on PlayStation 3 on Sept. 28:

Ballyhoo! - "Cali Girl"
Circus Circus - "First We Feast, Then We Felony"
Evile - "Now Demolition"
Cancer Bats - "Hail Destroyer"
Norma Jean - "Leaderless and Self Enlisted"

And here's the RBN tracks coming to the Wii on Sept. 28:

Flogging Molly - "Requiem for a Dying Song"
Third Eye Blind - "Jumper '09"
The Devil Wears Prada - "HTML Rulez D00d"
Finger Eleven - "Paralyzer"
Amberian Dawn - "River of Tuoni"
MC Frontalot - "Goth Girls"
All Time Low - "Walls"
Iwrestledabearonce - "Tastes Like Kevin Bacon"
Creed - "Higher"

RB3 PSN output... 4/5 are "hardcore" or whatever you call it when there is no melody to a song and the singer barks/whines like a dog.

Just give me the remaining 2 Band of Horses songs and I'll shut up about it.

Eventually, the excessive amounts of metal tracks going over will include one of mine. Someday.

For now, these should be the last new RBN tracks of the week; there's a backend system issue so I don't know if they will be put up today or not, but they are on the marketplace.

Desoto Jones - Giant Magnets || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
Iron & Wine - Flightless Bird, American Mouth || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
Kingsize - Elevator || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
Kiss the Girl - 999,999 Girls! || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
Rodrigo y Gabriela - Hanuman || full version (160 MSP) || trial version
Self-Titled - Indulgence || full version (80 MSP) || trial version
The Shins - Saint Simon || full version (160 MSP) || trial version

Indulgence is of note as it's the first drums-only track. Everything else, if it's of note to you you already know why.

Oh I won't shut up that easily. I want:

New Pornographers -- Your Hands (Together)
Sunny Day Real Estate -- In Circles
Sunny Day Real Estate -- Song About an Angel
Band of Horses -- The Great Salt Lake
Band of Horses -- No One's Gonna Love You
Surfer Blood -- Swim
Surfer Blood -- Floating Vibes
My Morning Jacket -- I'm Amazed

I like to use the ScoreHero RBN Releases thread as a barometer of what the fans are interested in. (Not the only one, but one of them.) For a while it was all about Nautiliz. Then two days ago the title changed to highlight Iron & Wine, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and The Shins. So there's definitely an interest in those.

I'm still trying to figure out what the non-metal market is for RBN. I've nearly signed a burst of chiptune stuff, we'll see how that goes down the road.

You've got great taste. I actually agree with all your picks (and didn't realize 1/2 of those were even available). I try not to keep up with the Xbox side of things because I know I will just be frustrated when they exclusively bring over the unlistenable shit.

the problem with ScoreHero is that they are the type of players that are only interested in one thing: how hard the song is on their instrument of choice. That's all fine and dandy, but lots of note != sounds good, at least IMO.

I feel like the Baron or whoever in Amadeus ("Too many notes!")

I keep track of them here, it gives me an idea when they should be available for PS3 and also gives me fodder to bitch at Harmonix on Facebook.

I want songs that I actually like and that are fun with a group of friends. Skill level doesn't mean anything to me.

Funny thing is, a lot of them have been discussing how they can shed that image. There was a whole big thing about it in the RBN thread, because people weren't finding out about non-uberhard songs because people weren't posting there under the assumption that ScoreHero doesn't care about non-uberhard songs.

The Guitar Hero side's a lost cause though.

After a weekend of technical issues on the RBN site, these songs are in the store:
