Nope, that's the issue. On PS4 you literally can't team up with friends on other consoles (except PC) whereas on every other console + PC you can make private games and public games with people no matter what platform they are on.

You can make private games and be matchmaked randomly with other consoles. There is still however no crossplatform parties.

What this means is if there is an xbox or Switch person in a lobby PS4 can't join and vice versa.

They did it with Portal back then PS3 was selling badly. They do let Capcom with Street Figther, maybe because they do not consider that platform competition like the Xbone and switch.

Sony apparently only wants to allow crossplay if they can confirm all accounts connected (Xbox, Steam, Switch, etc) have a PSN account with a paid plus subscription.
