This E3 is not looking good for Sony...
Sony gains nothing they alredy have 60 million consumers. It would only benefit the other consoles. Nothing about arrogance, yes it sucks but this is business.
They won't be giving that up because cross-platform play at a basis level means having friends on other platforms is irrelevant as you wouldn't be able to play online to together with a party system built in-game to handle all the platforms.
Rocket League is popular on all consoles. Them allowing this for this game wouldn't cause a sudden boost and/or drop of console sales. Please.
How is it consistently bad PR when the main outrage comes from a niche enthusiast gaming forum?
I'm being legit. What bothers us doesn't always apply to the consumer base at large. PS4 is over 60 million sell through and isn't slowing down. This hasn't damaged them at all. IN fact they've grown PS+ subscriptions.
Venture to twitter. Make a hashtag. Tweet Sony execs and those in games media. Ask them to write stories about this.
Sony has more players on PS4 than Xbox one and switch combined times by 2.
Tell me again how they gain from this?
Between last night's conference, Jim Ryan's BC comments, and this, this has not been a good week for Sony.
I don't agree, they have been making mostly the right moves. PSN is as good if not better than XBL. PS+ is still really good and has been fairly consistent.Been doing it all gen just no one has been calling them out since everyone has been fucking up. Paid online literally snuck into the e3 ps4 reveal and then psn is still awful and ps+ is worse than ever. BC murdered and then fans laughed at for wanting it. MS and Nintendo are both just scrambling back after their trouncing while Sony has stayed the same and the mall if starting to slip. That said, they still have a shit ton of defacto Japanese exclusives and strong first party.
How stupid are you to want them to be hacked again. What a stupid post.I do. Sony's resistance is bad for all of the gamers, splitting the pool of people they can play with. I've been playing the game since the beta on PS4 and would fully support Psyonix doing this. To be honest at this point I would love to see a 2011 PSN hack level shutdown, because at this point I feel like there's nothing else that will cure Sony of their stubbornness and staleness this gen.
It's kinda nuts that Nintendo is so open to this cross platform stuff. I love Switch Nintendo.
This still doesn't make sense.
SFV is cross-play between PS4 and PC. Rocket League is cross-play PC and PS4. FFXIV is crossplay with PS4, PS3.
So why not Minecraft? Console Rocket League?
Is it because the Xbox is involved?

Nintendo a more forward-thinking online company than Sony. What a time to be alive.

The cross platform issues are the biggest mistake they are making. It's a huge mess up especially with Rocket League and Minecraft. Sony after being so open with cross play for the last two generations are now seemingly closed it up.
It sucks and I hope there's enough backlash for them to change their minds regarding crossplay with all systems.
Is this going to affect overall enjoyment of the game for Sony players and XB1/PC/Switch players?
No
if that's all there is, this = arroganceIs there a valid reason for Sony to not do this? Other than we're market leader and don't feel like it?
No such thing as nothing. Sony gains good publicity by doing this.Sony gains nothing they alredy have 60 million consumers. It would only benefit the other consoles.
It sucks, because its arrogance.Nothing about arrogance, yes it sucks but this is business.
An uproar on NeoGAF is all it took for Naughty Dog to address the Nadine Ross Uc4 controversy. If their base isn't saying anything. If the media isn't saying anything then at the moment. No they don't care.
They would seem to be perfectly content with the amount of users they have now+plus PC.
The only outrage has been confined to pretty much this forum. It hasn't gone viral at all.
back when rocket league came out and it was just Ps4 and PC, there was a way to matchmake if you had a friend on the other platform. but it'd have to be a private matchYou can make private games and be matchmaked randomly with other consoles. There is still however no crossplatform parties.
What this means is if there is an xbox or Switch person in a lobby PS4 can't join and vice versa.
well if sony "gains nothing" then why allow it?They did it with Portal back then PS3 was selling badly. They do let Capcom with Street Figther, maybe because they do not consider that platform competition like the Xbone and switch.
No they don't. allowing crossplay doesn't disallow regular network play. They lose a competitive advantage. Tons of people bought PS4s just to play with their friends. That Network effect is the main reason Sony is winning this generation. It won't be something they give up lightly.
smfh. I hated that thread, I'm gonna hate this one now.Now we wait for the people that defended sony in blocking Minecraft crossplay to defend this as well
Doesn't sound plausible at all, source?Sony apparently only wants to allow crossplay if they can confirm all accounts connected (Xbox, Steam, Switch, etc) have a PSN account with a paid plus subscription.
It's generous of them to even allow a solution like that. PS+ is the value that keeps giving.
Yup It is absolutely true.Eh, not really
Not al those people are playing rocket league or mine craft. The more people that we have for player pools the better. This is like how dlc maps would separate user bases.Sony has more players on PS4 than Xbox one and switch combined times by 2.
Tell me again how they gain from this?
Yeah, not being able to play with my friend who only owns a Switch totally doesn't effect my enjoyment.
They have more players on PS4 than Xbone and Switch combine that's why the other consoles want to do this. If you don't like it talk with your wallet just don't buy the game that's the only way things will change.
It must be a evil MS Contract !/s
allowing crossplay to begin with is the first step. if everybody is on board this gen, then next gen it will probably be made easier to coordinate with your friends on other platforms. If you can't actually coordinate with friends on other platforms cross platform loses its luster for me.
If you can't actually coordinate with friends on other platforms cross platform loses its luster for me. I guess it's nice to have a healthy base of players but I don't see that being a problem with RL on PS4 any time soon.
I just don't get why sony is doing this.
Sure they still have a large userbase and that's a plus for getting their console, but staying out of cross play hurts them more than allowing it. If one user has a Ps4 and any other machine there's less reason for him to buy the Ps4 version of the game if he wants to play with people on other platforms, whereas he could perfectly purchase the Ps4 version and still play with them.
So Nintendo is defending itself from PlayStation and XBOX?
Rocket League has sold 10m worldwide, and around 6m of those sales come from Steam. The other 4m is split between PS4 and Xbox. They definitely don't have a larger user base than Steam.
.Keep these laughably transparent excuses for Sony coming...most enjoyable part of E3 so far
I agree, Sony should be allowing this.I just don't get why sony is doing this.

If I can get a full remake with new graphics, no, updated graphics...probably and upgrade to the controls and graphics for $40, I'd rather that than buying the old version that's pretty outdated. Some games do well with an update....let's be real.

Do you even notice when you are playing with someone from another platform? Iirc on rocket league PS4 this wasn't the case.
