welp there goes my hands

Correct. Best used as a supplement to actual guitar instruction.

I'm on board then. I kind of know the correct way to play a guitar. My dad is a guitarist. I'm just a bit crap at it.

As a bit of a guitar noob (about 2 years now), I love this game. I will definitely be picking this up. Is there news about support for the prior game's music library (on disc and DLC) ?

I should clarify. It does have videos and practice sections for each guitar technique, but during the actual game it's not showing you correct fingering, just a string of notes to try to hit with difficulty that changes on the fly as you get better.

Actually, it does show finger placement. It's just incredibly hard to see it while playing.

I was very skeptical of rocksmith because there is pretty much nothing an experienced guitarist could get from it( from what I had heard). This live AI session that reacts to what you play if it works as promised is a game changer for me. The idea of having a dynamic band behind you without having to have real musicians with you is awesome.

I feel like an experienced guitarist could get something out of the game in a way of making practicing fun. Also there are some seriously difficult songs such as:

Cult of Personality
Cliffs of Dover
Megadeth Pack
A7X Pack
Pantera Pack

That's a shame. I figured it would be since this image was up on a few retailers' sites. I guess I'll get the PC version when it's 75% off instead.

The problem with Rocksmith is the delay on HD-tv's. I don't know how they are going to address this especially of XB1 and PS4 are HDMI only, but if they can fix the issue that the last game had, it is Day one for sure.

I will probably pick up the PS4 version so I can justify getting a new electric guitar.

Like us guitar people need that nudge :p

As for learning from the game, yeah I agree it's best used as a suppliment to regular practice and maybe even lessons. You can teach yourself bad habits if you just use the game, which, if you can make the guitar do what you want then so be it, but you might hinder yourself when you get to the more complicated stuff.

2014 looks like it has more of a tab look instead of just gems, but I haven't seen enough of it yet, Bandfuse looks like it will have actual tabs. I'll end up getting both of these though haha.

All The Black Keys songs are 33% off on XBL now

Also we haven't seen the actual interface for Rocksmith 2014 yet, I'm sure not much has changed but session mode is something completely different.

Just discovered the first Rocksmith. Pretty incredible products that makes the most mundane aspect of practicing guitar incredibly fun. Can't wait until this new edition is out.

Has this been confirmed to use Uplay for the PC version? How are they handling DLC since your stuff from the first game is suppose to carry over.

It's still going to be Steam but with some UPlay reward elements and statistic tracking I assume

Ubisoft's Rocksmith 2014 Nicholas Bonardi

- Dynamic Difficulty can be adjusted on the fly

- Riff Repeater can be accessed at any time
- Score Challenges can be sent to friends online / in Guitarcade as well
- Score Attack?

These two are all the game really needs now. Really excited for this.

Session mode sounds pretty cool too but I nowhere near being good enough for it. Someday though!

A Guitar Hero like song selection screen would be pretty awesome too. Being able to check max difficulty achieved and scores would be a good way to keep track of progress.

EDIT: I would also buy a mini controller you could stick on the neck of a guitar for controlling the game. Especially bad on the PC having to hunch over to do anything with the menus.

Maybe a dumb question but... Anyone in GAF really learned how to play the guitar with Rocksmith? I mean, play the guitar outside the game...
Anyone? Maybe a thread about this?
