We have crowned a new comer.
You bastard. On another note, would you have the ability to sticky this thread during the E3 on the other side or would the OT have come back after the conferences?

Why did you have to close my vastly superior thread, Ami? It was filled with spoilers, random crap, and took me all of 5 seconds to create!

For this, a curse I place upon TDK! And TDK's children!

um, we'll have to discuss with mods/admins when it comes to that. This is a pretty big topic to just ignore for E3 week

Martin Scorsese's The Departed. Michael Mann's Heat. Brian de Palma's The Untouchables. And now, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight can join the ranks as one of the best crime dramas in modern movie history.

Just read the ign review - lots of lofty claims about transcending barriers etc. that I can only hope are true.:D

and fuck australia for getting the movie before the US
Its a rotating schedule of major releases to limit piracy. Well supposedly the US and Canada are high priority to have sloppy seconds.

This art is horrible. It reeks of Batman and Robin. Don't get me wrong, the movie looks awesome. But this art is BAD. It is bad art. Art that is not good.

does rottentomatoes change anyone's views on anything anyway? I mean, it might persuade people NOT to see a movie but i mean really Dark Knight was always destined to be great, so there was little chance of that scenario

The fact that those hands are all separate Photoshops and that this reeks of marketing excess is evidence enough.

Why couldn't they just let it be?

Terrible, terrible piece of art. But again, not a comment on the movie, just this shitty promo thing.

For TDK week all threads on all forums shall be closed, except for this one.

We demand it.

Harvey Dent holding the button stands out to me as a little off. But I never have cared much for the Harvey Dent marketing anyway. Still hyped to see this. Bunch of buddies and I are going the Sunday after it releases, fucking work. Think reviewers are getting a little ahead of themselves when they start comparing it to The Departed and Heat though.

Nope, I went to see Hancock despite it being at 35% and I knew I was going to see TDK the moment BB ended.

Despite being big fans of Will Smith, my wife and I ended up not going to see Hancock last weekend. If we don't go in the first week, we usually don't end up going together, if at all.

Frankly I feel "Rotten Tomatoes" and its ilk are about as detrimental to film enjoyment as is armchair box-office debating. It all comes down to the individual's tastes so why do people feel compelled to put "Rottenwatch" in the title, as if numbers are going to make the difference?! Can someone make "Rottenwatch" a bannable offense? Please?

dont think it changes anyones mind. but its just a tracker for those interested in the movie.

besides its really for after everyone has seen it so they can discuss their own review.

again it doesnt change anyones mind, esp for a movie like this, but say if a movie is univerally acclaimed or panned then it makes sense to check something like rottentomatoes out to see the compiled average and links to the reviews.

Agree but it'd be nice to find some other way to pick out the official movie threads before we get rid of it.

But why do we have to have the phrase in every thread discussing movies? The implication is that we're going have an audience/critic debate, when we should just be talking about the movie. And if that's always the case, why is this still practiced?

you're right that it doesn't make sense to include RottenWatch since the majority of the thread will be dedicated to discussing the movie and not the reviews.

the only explanation is that it's GAF tradition.

I will destroy it.

Frankly, seeing the Dark Knight is just about the only thing I want to do with my life at the moment. Everything up to that point is kind of a waste from now on. I've been intensely waiting for this thing for years. it's REAL. And it's living up to every single ounce of hype I thought it would.

AHHHHHHH GIMME GIMME

I'm not going to throw into question the whole marketing campaign, which has been pretty fucking stellar for this film. But I will agree that the ad in question isn't very good.

WE NEED A NEW HEADER FOR THE OP!

I agree it's pretty terrible.

Katie Holmes = It's a sign.

Yeah, she didn't do Dark Knight because she wanted to make Mad Money (or so part of the story goes.)

The irony is palpable.

EDIT: Also, if you post a review, please for the love of God, mention if there are spoilers.

Is this the new official talk about Dark Knight thread. Subscribed if so. Wonder how long the movie will stay at 100%. No matter how good any movie is these days there is always some critic who will come out against it just to hate on something popular/go against the grain.
