Yeah, but this guy is clearly an idiot.

What makes him an idiot? Overblown/bloated seem like valid complaints for a comic book movie clocking in at 2.5 hours. Until we see it ourselves, we cant say either way. As for the Journey comment, perhaps he prefers the family film, who knows.

I havent seen Journey, nor do I ever plan to, so I cant say anything one way or the other.

Slightly OT, but not really - when I recently rewatched BB, the same issues Ive always had with the film still stand out (more interesting film before Bruce becomes Batman, third act becomes pretty standard action fare, and not a particularly well put together romp at that), but one thing really grated on me like never before, and that was Old Man Exposition during the climax with the train. Good lord.

If TDK is a more consistent film (BB was excellent for the first 50 minutes or so, then downhill from there), has less cheesey dialogue, and better filmed/chereographed action, then I'll be happy.

You didnt expect unanimous praise, did you? No movie is loved by every single person.

No, and his official review hits next week sometime, but it kind of rang to me as "not liking what the cool kids liked." He made a point to say how every other critic at the screening was "crying, saying it was amazing" while he told them they were wrong, it was awful, I'm sorry, etc.

I dunno, the near universal praise of the film by reputable critics is making any dissension, especially as negative as DiGilio's, a bit off-kilter.

Wow, I absolutely cannot believe how unanimous the praise for this movie has been!

I haven't been this freakin' hyped for a movie in a long, long time :O

it's boring, eckhart doesn't look happy to be making this thing, it's cheesy and doesn't really fit

His character doesn't look happy to be there (dealing with the batman obsessed newscaster). I don't really think it's cheesy at all. It helps expand on elements of the film.

you have to say that the promo shots of the scarecrow were a little cheesy in the setting at least.

I guess. They could've used more "candid" shots of him, but i doubt they had any or willing to take some.

i absolutely hate when critics mention how other critics felt in their review

According to Digilio's wikipedia page, he's pretty much an attention whore.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Digilio

Nick can be counted on to defend even his most unpopular opinions regarding the cinema and is not afraid to be the lone voice defending movies even the directors have come to realize are bad (i.e., Joe Dirt and Freddy Got Fingered are "good" while Titanic is "bad").

Also his reviews are not counted on RT, so f*ck him.

Nick still reviews all the new films and makes DVD recommendations on John Williams' Saturday morning radio program.

this shit's almost as bad as what people on gaming-side do
but at least it'll prepare them for that first (and second) negative review on rotten tomatoes. let them get it out of their system

I KNEW this would happen. Does every single time. :lol

Absolutely. And, honestly, it annoys me more than any possibly questionable negative review.

This is EXACTLY what I was trying to say in my posts the other day regarding my own recent re-viewing of BB. You put it much better than I could.

How are the spoilers in that review? I remember trying to watch their Wall-E review only to have to stop due to quite a number of expanded/new scenes that I was trying to avoid before seeing the movie.

It's not too bad. They started showing a scene from Hong Kong, which is when I raised my hand and covered the screen. After that, they show a small clip with the Joker that was on IGN. Other than those two, it's pretty much all trailer stuff, no spoilers.

dont 'watch' it, minimize the window and listen and you should be fine. there is some new stuff in there nothing too spoierish

Ive been doing my best to stay spoiler free for TDK (havent even watched the prologue, despite owning the BB Bluray, which has it on the disc), and there is DEFINATELY some shit in their review that Ive never seen.

Freddy Got Fingered is a classic piece of cinema. I saw it in theaters 5 times. The fact that it even opened with a wide release makes it even better. Enough of this hate!

I guess since TDK is coming out Amazon has pretty much all of DC animated movies/shows on sale.

And then 10% off your order.

So just got Justice LEague Season 1( only one don't own) Batman Beyond season 2 and 3 and the Batman vs the Dracula for about 50 bucks. Not bad.

That GCN site is hacked by the joker, bunch of Ha hA HA!! all over it
"A ComMUNIst Network"
"Batman Droppings; Look out below!"
:lol :lol
I love the small details they are doing for the marketing. It's making the build up to this movie so much bigger for me.

Hey everyone, I'm sorta new to this Imax thing and I'm just not sure exactly what the deal is with seeing a film at one.

Is all the hype surrounding the tickets being sold out just for these first few weeks? How long do films usually stay in Imax? I'm obviously not going to be able to see it opening weekend, as I don't have a ticket and it's sold out everywhere. But say, in like 3 weeks, will I be safe on seeing it at my local Imax? I don't care if I see it after everyone else, I can stay away from spoilers easily enough, I just don't really know how Imax schedules work.

The general feeling seems to be "You snooze, you lose"...I hope I didn't blow my only chance!

Are you sure?
I know most opening weekends are sold out.
But I would assume during the week you could probably find some tickets.

Fun fact.
NYC is sold out for evening shows until Wednesday.

I know I said I wasn't coming back into this thread until after I saw the movie, but man, why are you people exploding over this IMAX BS? Must you see it in IMAX? Must yousee it on the first day it's out? The movie will be out for a few months. It isn't going anywhere.

Anyway, I'll be waiting a few weeks until I see this, so I can watch it in a totally empty theater.

fuck IMAX, too bombastic for my ears

I seriously hope this will be better than BB, which I found rather bland and way too overrated (not a bad movie anyway), but I think having a definite and interesting villain is a great sign

I only pray that Bale doesn't talk in that deep gritty and extremely shitty "batman voice" he does (I hope for less, I know I can't expect none at all)

As much as I'd hate standing in lines during opening weekends, I think its worth the trouble for the atmosphere. I've seen some movies during opening weekends and at the end of their runs, watching alone is only good for certain films.

He does. You haven't seen any of the trailers?

i dont know why...as long as i have a good seat i like the opening weekend crowd. they are usually the ones who are really into the movie, know the history, and appreciate it the most.

sure you get a few rowdy ones but for most of the time its enjoyable.

Got my IMAX tickets, Friday afternoon :D. This is the first time I've ever pre-bought a ticket so I'm very excited.

I haven't been to an IMAX film in about a decade so I'm not sure what to expect. Is seating for IMAX better designed so that even people in the front rows can get a good view without craning their necks? Or should I get to the theater an hour early to ensure good seats? This is the first movie I've seen in the theater in about two years so I don't mind getting there early :)

Get there early. No doubt.
