I just got out of an early IMAX screening of the movie. I'll keep this spoiler free. If anyone wants to be spoiled, I can do that in another post.

That is one intense movie. I'm not sure if it's just because of the imax, but i felt almost shell shocked walking out of the theater. The acting once again was awesome, Heath was especially great as the Joker. I really liked the Rachel character this time around as well.

The one big complaint I hear about Begins is that you don't see Batman kicked enough as, his fights are too edited. I think that it's a lot better in Dark Knight, but people will still probably bitch because most of his fighting takes place in the dark.

I did like the ending to Begins better, but I guess it's pretty hard to top the Joker card reveal.

Is their some benefit to having it as the same character? I hate when they do that in movies, replace a principal character with a different actor.

I'm sure she's critical to the story. Otherwise they'd just rotate in a new romantic lead like in every other superhero movie franchise.

I suppose it would've worked with another character but it was best to keep Rachel. Her character wouldn't have left Gotham, it was established in Begins that she is as committed as Bruce is to cleaning up the city. You get over the fact that it's a different actress pretty quickly.
 
The more I see Maggie Gyllenhaal in this movie, the uglier she gets. Some movies she can be pretty hot and this doesn't look like it'll be one of those movies.
 
Tom Cruise is so insecure. He didn't want his woman hanging around a man 20x hotter than he is.

On Gyllenhaal's case, she's alright looking, and obviously has nothing on her brother.

where are indy dudes seeing it on opening night? i know skip's going to be in hamilton but i don't think i'd want to make that trip.... anyone else? otherwise i'll just see it regular-style in a local theater


i'd think at least a few people would want to meet john goodman. or hit me or something

Maggie is such a huge improvement though. I thought Katie was one of the worst parts of Batman Begins, aside from the occasional cringe-worthy dialog (oftentimes delivered by Katie).

She has her moments in Stranger Than Fiction, but yeah she is butt ugly more often than not IMO.

I know my opinion on women means basically nothing, but you guys have got to be kidding. She's pretty alright looking. Definitely not butt ugly.

I know she's a better actress for sure.
But Katie is nicer to look at, imo.
Although I don't think Maggie is butt ugly.:D

I'll defend Katie a bit. She didn't ruin the movie at all but out of all the actors she had the least to work with to be honest. However Maggie is better and hotter. I think she looks beautiful in what I have seen so far.

Always thought it was me.
Just never wanted to say anything.

Though I do think Maggie is better looking. I didn't have any real problem with Katie. She played the role as well as you can expect. It's not like there is some comic book counterpart we are comparing her to.
 
Well look, Katie and Tom Cruise were causing way too many problems so they had to recast.

It's not like they can introduce a new character. Rachael Dawes is equally as important to Batman as Harvey Dent and The Joker in these.

i thought the main reason was that the studio was not happy with the attention cruise and his then competing movie "war of the worlds" was recieving when holmes was promoting begins.

this was when cruice holmes just started up and whenever she was promoting begins all ppl wanted to know was about tom.


count me in also as one of the ppl who were not bothered by katie. she had very little to work with and i thought did a fine job. to be honest i think ppl just hate cruise and it lands on her as well by association.

I wouldn't detract anything from Gyllenhal's talent. It takes a lot of talent to get naked and put in awkward situations!

E3 is over before TDK opens anyways (yes, Im aware there will be showings before the 18th, but for the majority of us, the 18th is opening day), so I wouldnt worry about it. This thread being closed from today until the 17th wouldnt be a bad idea, actually. Prevents spoilers from leaking in.
