Speed Racer isn't that bad. Of course The Dark Knight destroys it, but I actually enjoyed Speed Racer and thought it deserved more money in the Box Office.

this is madness. Glad to see Nolan getting the praise reconition he deserves.

I've got to go see it again today... I'm still amazed and excited by what I just saw. Nobody knows how happy I am that the best comic book movie ever made is about my favorite comic book hero. I've been waiting for this day since birth.

Going to a late showing tonight. I've waited for this movie ever since BB ended. There seems to be a lot of kids (not on these boards) that are hopping onto the Batman Bandwagon who probably couldnt tell you what "Batman Begins" is. Tons of lil girls who want to see Heath as the joker because hes hot and they are sad that he passed away (may he rest in peace hes fantastic) but i want people to appreciate this movie and Nolans excellent film making abilities. I don't want this movie to be a fad!!

If you look for problems, you'll find them, just like any other film. The trouble is, how much can the film really make you forget it's flaws? TDK does so very easily.

Not exactly. The story arc in TDK is a bit more convoluted than it should be. Don't confuse this as if the film were confusing, it isn't. I agree with your second point, though, as the film more than makes up for it.

I need a 2nd viewing before I can really be sure.

woohoo secured tickets for tonight :D

shame it's not IMAX, but going to a regular theatre under our circumstances is much less trouble.

maybe i'll try and do IMAX next week when things slow down

Well I watched Batman Begins again last night, and there are tons of "problems" but I still think its the best super hero movie ever, if this one is better I'll be really impressed.

yeah i dont think ive heard anything to the effect of: "not as good as batman begins"

which is amazing. it was one of my favourite films of its type, period.

granted, im sure some reviewers have said that, but the consensus is that TDK goes above and beyond

i heard someone say Burton's Batman movie was better, and Nicholson's performance was better than Ledger's

there is someone with every opinion! Nevar forget.

nolan better do the next one.

Anway, this movie is going to make a boat load and there is no way WB is not going to make a 3rd one.

So, if Nolan refuses to do the next one, who would you like to see as the director?

Christopher Nolan.

heh.

It'd be interesting to see what someone like Zack Snyder or Guillermo del Toro would do with Batman.

Not saying it would be better, just sayin' it would be interesting.

I never hated the Burton Batman movies, but Nolan's first film made them obsolete. I can tell Ledger's Joker with be better based on the previews also. When I first saw the DK trailer, before ledger died, I was immediately impressed and said to myself, "yeah I have to see that"

Keep in mind the last movie I saw in theaters was There Will Be Blood. If a movie gets my lazy ass off my comfortable couch and awesome home theater set up, it's something special.

I just bought it off of Amazon.

Along with Batman Begins - Blu-Ray and the soundtrack for BB.

I remember people saying Iron Man would out gross TDK.

Hahaahaha hahah heheha haha hee hee

hee.
Iron Man doesn't even touch this movie. Anything that came out in the past TWO years fails to touch this movie.

I'm a Batman fanboy, though.

Wee, got my ticket for tonight! Sweeeeeeeeet

Also, My ticket stub is accidentally racist:

Silent K, no "ht"... heh

And since I was messing around in Photobucket, here's a fucked up mess I made using the Joker from the Prologue on BB

My first and current impression after seeing the movie, honestly... but I'm sure my position will soften over the next week as it all sinks in.. is that The Dark Knight makes Batman Begins look like an amateurish effort in comparison.

Not even close.

And I thought my jokes were funny.

Nah--they were never funny.

I'm not a Snyder fan, but I have feeling that Nolan won't return for the third one. I was just trying to think of who the WB would get.

My comparison: Batman Begins is everything I ever wanted in a film. The Dark Knight is everything I never knew I wanted in a film. End of story.

Yeah, BB's biggest problem is its 3rd act. The training part was amazing, as was the scarecrow stuff, but once city is theartend by a water vapor gun it starts to become more of a popcorn flick, and less of a crime drama. I still love the movie though, watching it again last night just got me more excitied.

Begins seems almost pedestrian in comparison to Dark Knight :D

good to hear.

Ok, so its a great movie, and probably the best super hero flick. but is it the best comic book adapataion?

Right now I still think Sin City is the closet a film has come to a comic yet. Does the film represent the Miller books well?

I can kind of agree on the 3rd part. Logic falls apart on the Wator Vapor thing, but I just found the Train part, from when Batman launch off with the train, to the end, to be very thrilling. The stuntwork of the Batman hooked onto the train, crashing through walkways and steam all over the place, and the music...I just liked it.

leaving to go see it again, not imax which sucks but luckily they wont have a booth in front of the imax doors and ill sneak in :lol

Just got back from seeing it. I think I should have waited until I wasn't tired. I had no problems staying awake as it was a pretty tense movie, but I can't say I was blown away by it.

Will have to see it again before passing final judgment but I can honestly say I enjoyed both Iron Man and Wall-e more than TDK.

Hopefully not that douchebag.

The Dark Knight is not a comic book adaptation. It transcends the comicbook/superhero genre. It is its own thing. Pure unadultered Nolan-vision. And the gods for that.

Really, Batman Begins and TDK are just two different films. BB is more of a comic book film, the best of its kind. TDK moves past that into the realm of fine drama.

Give credit to Nolan and the actors that the movie features a guy wearing a bat suit facing off against a guy wearing clown paint, and it manages to be dark, twisted and ingenious and not even remotely campy. Except for Bale's Batman voice, maybe.
