I don't want to sound redundant, but holy.fucking.shit.... what an amazing experience.

Solidifies Chris Nolan as my favorite director I think, loved every one of his films.

Ledger stole the show, Eckhart is a seriously underrated actor.

Anyway, can't wait to see it again.

Fuck fox news, they just ran a segment on the dark night and potentially spoiled something for me.
Is it true two face is in the movie? yes or no

There are many references to it early in the movie, so I wouldnt worry about it.

i always just assumed - nevermind that even trailers have had references to it

maybe you thought it would be saved for the third film?

I actually liked the first movie better, and TDK was average and way too long.

Harvey Dent is in the movie, there's no way that he wouldn't turn into Two Face. It's expected.

I actually find how Bruce Wayne became Batman more interesting in BB, which makes me like the movie more than TDK. That's all, but look at this way: I'm probably one of the few people in the world who thinks this.

You are not the only one. I thought the same thing.

The biggest problem I saw in this movie was the editing. A lot of scenes don't carry over very well to the other scene after it. Hedger performance was very good. I must admit that I think the new "Batvoice" is a bit too extreme and it even sounds silly.

Caught it again today (wasnt planning to see it again until mid next week, but another group of friends called, and off I went). Plays much better upon a second viewing. I still prefer BB slightly, but this second viewing of TDK went a long ways in narrowing that margin. The whole scope of what Nolan is doing, and the respective elements that make it up, all just seemed to gel and jive together much better this time.

Sounds encouraging, since BB felt better with repeated viewings.

Damn, 24th can't come any sooner.

Good to hear, I had some of the same issues you had in your inital impressions can't wait to see this bad boy again, this time on Imax. I think just because there's so much going on and by in nature quite a chaotic film, it's pretty hard to have an overall grip on things. I literally felt exhausted by the end of seeing the film.

It was very good. Much better than the (overrated) first one. Couple of things:

1) Heath Ledger's Joker was spot on. Actually, it was so good I will have trouble believing any other Joker for the rest of the franchise's life. He even did the lip-smacking.

2) Maggie Gyllenhaal as the love interest of two main characters... she is average looking at best. Some closeups of her in the movie were just downright ugly.

3) Some of the point/counter point stuff between the Joker and the Good Guys (tm) was a little far fetched.
You mean to tell me that Joker planned for Gordon to still be alive and capture him?
Right.

4) The ending kinda dragged. A bit of editting would have been nice there.

Overall I give it a 5 of 7.

Saw the movie earlier today, Heath's performance of the Joker stole the fucking show. Wow, so many awesome scenes with him. Probably see this again in Imax next week.

I agree with it was well, but Javier Bordems charachter was very reserved and understated.

I think the closest examples of something similarly great to the Joker performance would be Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York or Daniel Plainview. Javier Bordem was creapy and haunting, but the Joker managed to steal scenes he wasnt in. He was like a dark cloud hanging over the entire movie.. even when he wasnt on screen, you could feel him lurking over everything. It was so damn powerfull of a performance and the sense of doom he cast over the movie made it seem like a hopeless situation that Batman couldnt win.

I know people might frown at this, but I think the best analogy for the Joker that we've seen in another movie is Hannibal in Silence of the Lambs, as a "dark cloud" who impacts every scene in the film regardless of whether or not he's in them. Tremendous performance from Ledger.

I consider myself a film buff, and I quite honestly haven't seen quite as a good a supporting performance in any film that I can recall since Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects. I was really huge on Bardem in No Country last year, but I do think Ledger tops him.

Yeah, actually knowing what is coming actually made for a better experience. Rather than sucking up all the plot details and whatnot, you can focus more on the character interactions and performances, and the billion other details you might have missed the first time. For one, I think I may have appreciated Ledger's work a lot more this time around. I caught a lot more subtleties and nuance in his performance that I didnt pick up on during the madness of the first viewing.

Bruce has been in love with her since he was a kid, guess it doesn't really matter what she looks like. Kind of a reverse friend-zone :lol
