Really. Two Face really couldn't carry his own film the way his character was designed (which was for optimal performance).

I felt the same way. He's not the same type of bad guy the joker is in this movie.

The scene that perfects this is when he first enters the party. He's scared by all the wealth, intimidated. He's not a guy who's motivated by cash (what a surprise, he's a public servant with his neck on the line). and since there's already another character motivated by nothing in the film, all that's left is
revenge
.

Oh fuck, now you got me all mixed up!:lol

I feel like the Mac truck getting flipped by Batman

The thing I'm most happy about Nolan's work being a massive success is that studios will now hopefully give him the freedom to do other projects aka bring on another Memento-caliber film please :D

I see some value in Solo's Transformers2 prediction, I agree that it'll make money .. more than the first but not 500 level stuff. For 500 club, the movie has to have legs and I'll bet the (Gotham City) bank that it wont. :lol

Back on topic: 95% on Rotten (best superhero movie evar!) and also still holding strong on #1 at Imdb.

You know, I think Nolan's been pretty lucky from the get-go and not held back, really. Memento, Following, The Prestige - these arent really "Ill take this job to move up the ladder/make some cash" kind of movies. The only thing I really think he wasnt into fully was the Insomnia remake.

That's very true, well the more freedom the better. He did a truly remarkable job with Insomnia too.

What I'm confused about is, if his brother had credit with writing a short story that eventually became Insomnia, where does that end and the remake begin?

I think you're mixing up Insomnia and Memento. Insomnia is a remake of a Norwegian film, while Memento is an adaptation of Jonathan Nolan's short story.

Most fucking awesome movie of the year. Heath Ledger was just beyond AMAZING on his role. I still wish Batman got more spotlight as the Joker seem to stole it every time, but it was still an amazing movie, kinda slow and with some boring pools in between, but nevertheless fantastic.

Not a masterpiece as some are calling it, but awesome

Yea, its hard to compete with a colorful, animated character when your limited to one facial expression, a growly voice and a mask.

Oh, and Bale needs to lose the Batman voice. NOW. Its ridiculous. I don't think Batman got too much screentime this movie, I have to agree with the critics that this was more of a "crime movie with Batman in it", but it was still AWESOME.

BTW, does anything happen after the ending credits

since when the fuck is it news that a film critic finds a movie boring?
He's like the most famous one in the Uk and quite a celebrity. He's like the americans equivalent of Jay Leno or someone.. i dunno.

First six days:

1- The Dark Knight WB $222,150,806 total: ????????

2- Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest BV $183,661,469 total: $423,315,812

The Dark night almost has a 40 million edge over POTC so far. If TDK performs like POTC for the rest of the summer then it will bring in over $463 million. :O

but since it is ourperforming POTC then it is possible that it will reach $500 million.

But I am not holding my breath. I will wait until this weekend.

I'm almost certain it will bring in 500 million. It's making 20 million on weekdays.

I love the title of that article... "Heath Ledger's Dark Knight"...it's like the dude is mocking the dead.

And he's full of shit. If Ledger was still alive, people would still be talking about how amazing his performance was and calling for Oscars.

Some critics are simply incapable of separating the dead actor from the role he played. Why the fuck would you criticize this interpretation of the Joker for being "gloomy"? What was Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men, a ray of sunshine?

Since Ross clearly can't separate actor and character given his TDK review, he believes that everyone who is praising the performance is only doing so because of the actor's death. The sad old man is trying to fulfill his own prophecies.

Is he bigger than Ebert? Ebert don't make the news with negative reviews.

I pity the fools who watched TDK in a regular theater.

After watching Begins at an IMAX theater back in 2005, I knew there was absolutely NO WAY I was going to see TDK in anything other than an IMAX. The opening scene was amazing... whatever chatter had persisted through the previews had been quieted really quick. Also, the scenes in which Bruce Wayne was running forensic tests on the shotgun blasts to acquire the fingerprint were amazing strictly because of the sound. I nearly shit a brick after the first blast...

Fuck people who talk during movies. Fuck them.

Earlier tonight I went to see the Dark Knight with my brother (who was super hyped) and the moment the film starts this 10-year-old boy sitting directly behind us begins to loudly translate everything in Spanish for his farther -- in the center of a mostly packed theater. Damn kid managed to talk over the entire bank scene, parking garage scene, dinner scene, and "magic trick" scene. And when I say talk over, I mean ruin, as neither my brother or I could pay attention to what the hell was going on.

By that point we just got up and left, notified a manager, and went to another showing.

God that must've been horrible. At the very least they let you go and see another show, though. It would COMPLETELY suck if they didn't even reimburse you.

Why didn't you tell him to shut the fuck up in the first place. Was it because he was 10?

It isn't, but it does directly affect the legs of the movie. Look at spidey 3. Seriously man this movie is pulling in 20 million on weekdays, hell 24 million on a Monday. Transformers didn't even crack 400 million last summer.

To be fair the only movie IPs to have ever reached $400 million on the single/initial movie is Titanic and well, Spider-man.

Transformers and Ironman both look to have shots at having the $400 million barrier on their second outing like Batman and Pirates did.

Didn't want to make a scene... assumed the kid would eventually shut up on his own.

We did turn around a couple times to give him and his father the ol' stink eye, though, and someone else sitting next to them said "hush" a couple times. But yeah, neither of them took the hints, and once the Joker scene was spoiled for my brother (I had actually already seen the film once), we bailed.

Planning for my third time seeing the movie to be at Imax... going with the family, and they are super excited to see it. :D

So who has the highest viewing count on GAF? Anyone over three or four times, yet? ;)

Oh my gawd, this movie is simply amazing! Best Batman flick ever, no doubt about that, they got the Joker and Batman chemestry soooo right and even a real Two Face, unlike that other movie. I'm just...wow this movie..wow!

Saw this yesterday on the opening night here in Holland, and I was very, very content with the movie. Everyone else already said it, but Ledger is fucking amazing. Absolutely stole the movie. I think that the Batman Begins saga should end with this movie. There is no villain or character which can top the Joker if you ask me. And
Two Face couldn't even stand in the shadow of the Joker. Sometimes I even felt that the Two Face character was out of place and didn't really fit in well with the movie's atmosphere.
Ending confused me a bit. But overall it was a great movie. I am going to see this again, just for the Joker parts. Joker and his magic trick. Oh my god. So fucking awesome.

Holy shit that sucks. I went to go see Wall-E opening night with my parents and these two older teens/young adults have got to be the biggest nerds I have EVER seen, and they talk in that extremely nerdy voice. They commented on EVERYTHING single thing in EVERY trailer. When the opening credits started for Wall-E they kept talking. My Dad finally told them to shut the hell up :lol

OH MY FUUUUUUUCK

Swedish premiere went smoothly, sold out and everyone was 100% focused on the screen. Brilliant. But it was just THAT good, can they ever top this?
