Is this album devoid of any content? The 4 songs I listened to are KM and El-P saying how badass they are, which was pretty much all they said in RTJ1.

They are though (for real they have songs that talk about real issues on this album but I dunno if that's what you listen to RTJ for). Check out Early.

Similar feelings. Enjoying Black Milks project a lot more.

Feel at odds with most people here. My list,

Blockbuster Night Part 1
Close Your Eyes and Count to Fuck
Lie, Cheat, Steal
Early
Crown

Blockbuster is hands down my fav. Sorry, I know it's a simple song but that shit makes me feel like punching a hole in my door damn.

Close Your Eyes and Count to Fuck would be SO much better had Zack done some RATM screaming on it. It's been way too long since One Day as a Lion, dude should join RTJ3 as a third member, I'd die.

Crown has this amazzzzzzing synth that sounds like a guitar at the end. It's literally the entire reason I love the song.

List may change as I listen to it more but those 5 songs make it hard to play anything else on it. Overall I like the album as a whole which is saying a lot more than RTJ1 which I really only liked one song (DDFH).

Full disclosure, I'm a much bigger rock/electronic music fan than I am rap tho.

i been listen to el-p stuff all weekend now
when's the last time y'all listened to "return of the b-boy"?
am i the only one who gets sad at the end of "MO MEGA"? (the song not the album) it's just so…man.
also, guys, remember all the dope tracks he'd do for def jux presentses? all the way up to the meanest thing i'd never say?
and high water, holy shit, that thing rips

question, has el-p ever done a single thing wrong?

Havent heard any songs yet but this was my sleeper album of the year last year. I cant wait to get home and listen to my CD(yeah no digital content only here)

Just noticed this finally popped up on my Google Music for any users of that here. Time to endlessly pump it at work.

El-P has cemented himself as the best hip-hop producer of all time and there is no one even close as far as I'm concerned. Dude has been doing it for so long and has been really consistent quality wise while having different styles from project to project. I love Funcrusher Plus but the jump to The Cold Vein ripped my fucking head open. There are very few songs that he has produced that I don't like and most of them are remixes for other artists.

Regarding Mo Mega, man I wish El would have done that whole record. Those few tracks that he didn't produce sound so out of place. I like that record quite a bit but the middle of the album really ruins the flow and I really can't stand the last song. Man, I Phantom though, love it.

High Water doesn't get mentioned a lot but that is a pretty interesting album. I think parts of it work really well and others fall a little flat for me. I enjoy it overall and really love the track with his dad on it. The fact that he even did the project at all is cool as it's definitely out of his comfort zone and is a nice little side project.

Those Def Jux presents albums always had some great tracks on them. Those last few Company Flow songs on Vol. 1 are awesome. Volume 2 is probably my favorite. I really miss Camu.

Wasn't feeling this as much as RTJ at first, but after listening to it a few times I like it more than RTJ now. Frontrunner for album of the year for me right now, but there's some quality hip hop being released right about now that I also need to get to.

Consequence of Sound loved the hell out of the album lol

Remember in Terminator 2: Judgment Day when the T-800 was reprogrammed and sent back in time to protect John Connor from the T-1000, the newer, shapeshifting model that was hellbent on killing the future of humanity? Run the Jewels 2 may as well have been called Run the Jewels 2: Judgment Day because it follows a very similar trajectory. After El-P and Killer Mike came at us with their futuristic, dystopian debut as Run the Jewels, they’re back for round two to deliver a grenade launcher to the chest of any and all fuckboys and fakes. Friendly to their dedicated following and as pissed off as humanly possible at the dissenters, Run the Jewels are exactly what the rap game — and the human race — needs.

Gonna be seeing these dudes in concert Saturday. On my third listen of the album since it dropped. Great stuff.

This album been on repeat at least a dozen times since it dropped for me. Gonna see them later in November, can't fuckin wait.

Hey I don't know much about EQ settings or whatever, but when I listen to this the vocals get somewhat hidden behind the beats in some places. Are there any settings on my stereo I should change? I've been mainly listening to this in the car (and haven't gone on a rampage yet). The vocals on the first album seemed to pop a lot more.

Run The Jewels: "Early" - David Letterman

Awkward performance on Letterman. Song is too boring for a showcase spot on TV. It's a mid set song. Perform something that has energy like Oh My Darling or All Due Respect.
Seeing the boys stand behind microphone stands with nothing to do is uncomfortable to watch.

AND if someone wants to spin this is as they played a song with a message..who cares. No one watching is going to be able to understand what they are saying on a first listen. They will remember a boring band or a band jumping around having a good time.

Also, the zombie hand symbol album cover thing they are heavily pushing now is really silly. Put your hands like this everyone, that's Run the Jewels! What?

This is some damn good shit.

Hadn't heard of them before this. I've been listening to both of the albums for the past week.

RTJ2 is definitely better.

As much as I love rtj2, and going to see them tonight, agreed.

And mike's hype man skills are better than el's

Run the Jewels in general lacks depth and more interesting concepts, but as "hit your head against a wall" kind of music, it is almost perfect.

Saw them on Halloween. I was supremely annoyed and stressed before I got there so my mood was already tinged. They put on a pretty good show. Vocals got muddled up a little in the beats in small venue though. El jumped into the crowd to watch their Letterman performance. Crowd was hyped but definitely not a sell out in a 800 person venue.

I'm always amazed with the lyrics from RTJ, how do they come up with this shit lmao

All Due Respect said:
This year we iller than a nun in a cumshot
Getting’ double penetrated in a dope spot
By two hard pipe hittin’ Niggas
On the orders of Marcellus to the soundtrack of 2pac

I feel like Killer Mike must have died for a few seconds after writing something this incredible:

And I love Dr. King but violence might be necessary
Cause when you live on MLK and it gets very scary
You might have to pull your AK, send one to the cemetery
We overworked, underpaid, and we underprivileged
They love us, they love us (why?)
Because we feed the village
You really made it or just became a prisoner of privilege?
You willing to share that information that you’ve been given?
Like who really run this?
Like who really run that man that say he run this?
Who who really run that man that say he run this, run run run run this?
Like who really fund this?
Like who really fund who say he fund this?
Like who in the world gon' tell Donald Sterl who to put on the “you can’t come” list?

like…fucking how
