Well, if it actually turns out to be Haytham's father then color me interested, he was the only character I cared about in AC3 so the possibility of his story being expanded through a game is a welcome idea.

lol, I wonder what reason they'll come up with why anyone would have to relive that guy's past. I mean the reasons for reliving Connor's life were pretty bogus already.

Here's an idea: just don't bother justifying it.

No animus, no Desmond, no meta-commentary by hackers or whatever they keep doing in some sort of weird equivalency to the Ocelot phone calls, just start the game as Kenway and end the game as Kenway.

I'm guessing that's the Animus like effect in the game, since Desmond /you know what happened/ he's going into memories like that or something.

I can't take it anymore, Ubi. I just can't.

Well, I guess if the modern story is over and done with, then okay. I've liked all the historical stories. But AC3's ending shit the bed so hard

God, I'm so weak. Day 1. Maybe.

lol

lets count how many comedians do a JJ lens flare joke because it so original

wont be connor but his grandfather....er ok

These leaks make me think we'll get the official announcement tomorrow, no embargo anymore. =P

My dreams of an open world Action/Adventure RPG that takes place during the height of the Age of Piracy in the Caribbean has been shattered. Again.

Oh well, back to crossing my fingers so that CDProjekt gets inspired.

Wot?
The main characters name is Edward Kenway, father of Haytham Kenway from Assassin's Creed 3. Edward is known as a Privateer, Assassin and occasional pirate. The games location is set in the Caribbean on multiple island including Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas

This is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for. Don't fuck this one up like you did AC3, Ubi.

i assume it's a screenshot of the part where the game is constructing the world like in all the previous games. dat new Animus software is fancy.

This.

There is no need for them to continue the whole Animus angle anymore. Just do games where the entirety takes place in the chosen time, that way they have the freedom to come up with any setting, story, character, etc. they want without restraints from some bullshit modern day nonsense. I sighed every time we had to return to the modern era as Desmond.

Yes. Make it for the next gen system and let me use the ship to travel through a huge open world, not just these small arenas like in 3.

Bring back a charismatic character and allow us to build our own ship and crew, let us sail through the south Atlantic wrecking things up with a straight up copy of the Batman fighting system instead of half way getting there. I'm building a better game in my mind.

Would really be the best thing to do. While I liked some of the future stuff in AC: Brotherhood it is quite obvious that it always held the story back.

yeah, that's what I meant.
there is probably no animus anymore. makes sense for it to look more 'organic'

This is what we need. The series has never been about Desmond or the modern times. It is always about the history. They need to stick to what makes the game interesting.

I'm happy if Conner is gone, but I have to see if they've fixed the other numerous complaints about the third game.

We can only hope. I don't understand why they reserve the right to not filling the game with extra modern day crap for the side games, while the main console games get useless filler.

As expected, it's looking like everything releasing this holiday is going to be cross gen. Sounds good to me. It's looking like I'm going to be picking up more PS4 games on launch day than Wii U games this entire year D:

So there's a chance the Puerto Rico might be there....

Don't do this to me Ubi.

As much as Ass Creed 3 fully turned me off to what had been my favorite current-gen series... an open-world pirate game would bring me right the hell back. I've been waiting for this for FOREVER.

(And no, Sid Meier's Pirates doesn't count, I mean a third-person action-adventure type game)

I wouldn't mind if they drop the future story arc without explanation. They can transform this franchise into random tales from the past and it'll probably definitely be for the better.

Lack of software does not seem to be a problem for next gen come launch.

As someone who enjoyed the previews for Assassin's Creed 3, and only ever briefly played Assassin's Creed 1 way back when (maybe an hour at most), would I like 3 since I am not truly acquainted with the series?

I think the setting is what intrigues me.

ACIV? With direct ties to the characters in 3? Seems odd, I figured they'd wait until they go off into a completely separate time period before they jump to IV.

unless they take out the number, we will need to endure what happened after ACIII.

I hope it actually has open sea sailing, replace 'Frontier' with sea and cities with islands., I'm okay with that.

I stayed with this franchise all the way up to AC3. Up to, but not including. AC3 was the least fun in the series for me. The game play was just too... annoying, somehow. The only way I'll play AC4 is if I see some evidence that it will play more like AC2,B and R and less like AC3.
