RUMOR: Borderlands Remastered Edition incoming?

One would hope it includes the Pre-Sequel, whether on its own or in a collection of all 3. During early interviews regarding the Pre-Sequel, they basically admitted they wanted it to be a low-cost development game in order to tide fans over until they could get out a proper next-gen BL3. At this point, releasing an updated version of just BL/BL2 would truly feel like a cash grab.

Of course its a cash grab. Remasters are released for the sole purpose of making easy money and/or to get people acquainted to series from last gen. It's safe to say it won't be released for free. I honestly find this comment baffling....

What else could it be?

If you were gonna do that I have to ask what would be the point?

For me, after I reached the maximum level there just wasn't much else to do. I just have a hard time seeing how the game would be fun after you've done everything and have all the good loot.

Reset UVHM and play through again but with OP weapons. Sometimes it's fun to face roll the content. I did this a lot. I have several 72 level characters, but I only did Digistruct with 2 of them. So I'd have to play each character through the story 4x (without all my legendaries) just to get back to where I left them.

*Holds out cash for it to be grabbed*

They require CUDA to be accelerated so....Unlikely they'll be on consoles.

It doesn't have to be a straight port from the PC effects. They can recreate them. Next-gen Borderlands that looks worse than the PC version looked years ago would be a joke.

With online communities being a big thing in console gaming nowadays, remasters of multiplayer games have more significance than ever before. People looked forward to MCC for what reason? Because they'd get to enjoy a whole new community of multiplayer for their favorite games whose communities have been dead for years.

Without remasters, these communities would die out during a generational shift because of a lack of BC in consoles.

Therefore there has been interest generated in the community, the Borderlands Community in this case, who have pleaded with Pitchford to get these games out as a remaster.

From a corporate standpoint, you see interest generated for a product that can make you money, so of course as a company, you like making money so you give the community what they're asking for.

It would take an order of magnitude more than particles to make Borderlands "next-gen" anyway. Obviously they could create their own particle system.

Bish confirmed it will.

Whether it includes Borderlands 1 is the question.

I would hope so. Even though the Borderlands 1 story was eventually retconned into being something more significant than it was at the time through the later games, it's still an important part of the story as well as characters who were used in BL2 and presequel (Athena).

Also, the graphics of this game even on PC with high settings seems like something they could pull off quite easily at 60fps on PS4/XBO, so I'm hoping that's the case.

4 player splitscreen would be pretty awesome as well for that couch co-op. These systems can definitely handle that game in 4 instances.

The artstyle would lend nice to an upgrade, perhaps they should try supersampling these games like Okami, 1080 60fps with nice IQ would be ideal. Of course, all the dlc should be included. I always wanted to play the tiny tina dlc, never got around to it, should be a good time then.

Btw, what would you guys in terms of gameplay like to see fixed in BL1 and BL2.

I can't honestly think of anything, other than adding fast travel to the DLC packs in BL1 and removing some of the chance based collect-a-thon trophies/achievements in BL1.

That would be a heck of a lot of content for $60 if it's BL1+2+PS+DLC. Hell it would be a lot of content if it was just 1 and 2. I'd buy in a heartbeat.

Is the presequel an expansion or no? I might be interested in this but I have no clue if the presequel is supposed to be like DLC or a new game.

Thanks.

Guessing it uses the same map and classes as BL2? Never got far but I've been wanting to return to Borderlands for a while now. This could be a very good opportunity.

Understand its a rumor. But sounds like 2k is the new ubiSquare. Release, rerelease,remaster,sameengine,re-release,remaster,sameengine,cashgrab.

How many games has 2K remastered this generation?

GTA5 and potentially Borderlands, what others?

Personally, I don't see the problem, especially if the games coming over are good and there's some effort put in the port/remaster.

I like the idea of remasters with updated graphics & features for games that I can't get my hands on anymore, especially if it's for a system I don't own.

Resident Evil 4 HD & Resident Evil HD are good examples. It lets a new generation of gamers get a chance to play great games they may have missed, all while supporting the developers.

But, "remastering" a game that is only a few years old and is still widely available feels like exploitation of the user base to me. "Let's milk the fans for all they are worth."

I guess what I mean is that an updated version of the Pre-Sequel was expected. We pretty much knew it was coming from the game's initial announcement. We were also told right away with the Pre-Sequel, that they decided to make it because it would be cheap and fast, whereas BL3 will take more money and time.

In that context, the re-release of the Pre-Sequel coming with updated versions of the first two games included would feel like a bonus. We can have that out of the way and they'd just be working on BL3.

But this could be the exact opposite - release an updated version of the original game first, for example, and then 6 months to a year later release an updated version of BL2, and then finally an updated Pre-Sequel 6 months to a year after that, each one buying them more and more time to put their full resources on the more expensive BL3.

Don't bother.
The anti-remaster crowd can't be bargained with. They can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And they absolutely will not stop, ever, until they are dead.

I've beat BL1 several times already, but i would be down for BL2 and the Pre-sequel. They don't even need to improve the graphics, i'll be happy enough with a stable framerate :)

Thanks.

New map, new classes, new weapon types, the works, but without expanding the series gameplay.

Think Assassin's Creed Brotherhood situation. It only exists to fill a gap while BL3 is worked on, but it has enough content to stand it's ground.

Sounds like my jam. I'm in for this.

So much BS in this quote.

1. It's not "widely available". These games are not on PS4/X1.
2. It's not exploitation. You don't have to buy it. The PC/360/PS3 versions are perfectly functional if you wish to play them that route. Not everyone can play them that route.
3. Some people like their last gen games with better graphics.

It's a CHOICE. You have the CHOICE to buy them or not. Take 2 is not forcing me to buy them. They are giving me a choice, which is always a good thing.

If someone every last gen copy ceased to exist once a new version gets released then it becomes exploitation.

So please just STOP with this non-sense.

Thanks, now I feel like watching Terminator 1.

On a serious note, I can understand why some people might hate remasters, but it's not like the remasters are coming in place of a new game, it's just something to tide gamers over while they work on the game in the series or work to bring a new IP to the market.

The only real problem I have is when they are obvious cash grabs with little to no effort put into them - looking at you, Sleepy Dawgs - but then there are games like, Metro, Tomb Raider, GTA5, TLoU:R - so it evens out.

Cryo enemy freezing, jet pack jumping, butt slams with elemental choice, new relic stats for Oxygen unit slot.

It did expand on the gameplay a little bit due to the low gravity stuff. But to be fair, that low gravity stuff is not available through the entire game.

But the game definitely has way less fast travel stations and has a TON of backtracking over large swaths of terrain to pad the game length. There are also not enough sidequests to prevent you from being underleveled which can sometimes necessitate some grinding for levels. It's the weakest of the three but yeah it can stand on its own...mostly.

Not much interest from me, although including everything in one package, including TPS and all DLC, for $60 would be an impressive value. The first one was one of my favorite games of last gen, but I didn't get that same feeling from the second and TPS, although I've only put about an hour and half into TPS...I don't really have a ton of desire to go back to BL1 after all the time I spent with it, even a remastered version.

Yeah, I mean, there's new gameplay stuff but none of it is "numbered sequel" worth ya know what I mean. Not that's a bad thing.

I honestly can't understand their anger at all, because there is no logic or reality to it all.

The number one argument that drives me up the wall is "give me new games" because its a retarded argument that implies that its only remasters that are coming out, when last october and november we had one of the biggest months of new games. There are a TON of new games that have come out this past year, yet they ignore these facts and make themselves just look ridiculous. When you call them out on it, they don't respond.

Put resources into new games. Fact: These remasters cost next to nothing to make and are almost always farmed out to studios that specialize in porting. Keeping people employed. Ubisoft is living proof that adding more people/money doesn't automatically mean it's gonna be a better product.

I do agree somewhat that the price needs to be fair what SE is charging for their remasters is ridiculous. But I got both of them on sale. I exercised my right of choice.

Under nowhere in any place am I being forced to buy these.

So I have to disagree. Anti-remaster people have no legs to stand on and are irrational group of whiny crybabies.
