Exactly 2 weeks from now we will be in the midst of Uncovered...

Just quickly threw this together after someone tweeted "Long term ff fan here Am I the only one really not feeling #FFXV ? No female characters & all guns/grenades? Where's the 'fantasy'?" :D Might come handy in discussions here:

To be fair, when people say 'no female characters', they're referring to the main party, which is devoid of women.

I played Duscae and I really liked it. There was immersion there... but it wasn't enough for me to convince myself that I was actually playing AS Noctis. Doesn't help that Noctis' personality didn't exactly shine in Duscae either. Every-time I play Duscae, I feel like I'm a cameraman holding a camera. It was just a demo so it could only go so far.

I guess. But man especially given the traditional mechanics of the series are generally brick through a window immersion shattering, these seem like minor complaints.

I'd really like a new demo. Duscae was very cool, I enjoyed it but the mechanics were still sloppy with it. I want to know how the game feels now and see how much progress has been made. The combat system didn't fully click with me, even after 2.0 but it was getting there.

The immersion design is revolved around the world and as being a part of the crew, not just being Noctis. The devs said we're essentially the 5th buddy.

Close off the month with some XV goodness..what a good month

Indiana Jones 5! Well for me. Without Lucas around I think it's going to be really great this time, I know not game related but... hell, new Indiana Jones announcement is always exciting for me in any situation. All around a really exciting month.

So the cameraman immersion feeling I felt in Duscae is INTENDED? Wow... Okay... interesting...

Most concerned about the WRITING and the IMMERSION.

I'm slightly cautious about the writing. I feel the overall plot should be quite good. It was originally penned by Nojima, and they did consult with him over the revisions. Also given that it's a condensed version of Nojima's script, one would hope they just cut the fluff and kept all the good parts in.

What I'm more worried about is the execution of the plot(on paper even FFXIII's plot sounds cool), and the localization. Of the two I'm most worried about the localization. Thankfully they have received our feedback so hopefully it has been taken into consideration.

Nah, no one actually likes XIII except the people who think Lightning is their waifu.

No, no game can sell 7 million for its waifu.

I hate FFXIII for being such a disappointing mainline FF, but I enjoyed my playthrough and when I look back, I always remember the fun I had in that game.

I still think it's one of the best JRPGs last gen (there aren't many contenders anyway). Not as good as XB and some of the titles on handheld, but better than many games that GAF really like, such as DQIX, Tales of Vesperia and Ni No Kuni. I never played NieR or the Lost Odyssey though.

The first part of the game was so fast-paced that I actually didn't realize how linear it was (In contrast, FFX was slow, so the linearity was obvious for me). In fact, when I reached chapter 11, the part where most people say "it gets good", I was kind of lost and didn't know what to do.

The battle was intense, turn-base can't get any more intense.

The cast was not that bad. I think all the girls are fine. I like Hope and Sazh, Snow though, probably the worst character ever in the series, and I'm counting the filler characters in FFVI.

And the game looked beautiful, it still does! Graphic wise and art direction wise. The soundtrack did its job well too.

That's basically Vaan, the only difference is that he's actually in the game. I believe it was intended that Vaan being a mere witness of the events, people just don't get it so they think he's blend.

Literally didn't know it before I saw this post.

Tabata/Nomura pretty much wants to recreate this but replace Cloud with Noctis.

The question is... will Noctis be staring sadly at one body or MULTIPLE BODIES?

He will be staring at Cloud and Lightning's bodies stuck in a lovers quarrel over which character SE uses more

I hope this game turns out to be exactly what everyone wants(me included), though I feel like even if it doesn't it's gonna have an insane amount of apologists.

No doubt. And if it turns out great, it's still going to have a bunch of haters. The yin and yang of Final Fantasy.

Noctis singing in the rain:

Yeah-eh-heah
You are, my fire
The one, desire
Believe, when I say
I want it that way
But we, are two worlds apart
Can't reach to your heart
When you say
That I want it that way
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a mistake
Tell me why
I never want to hear you say
I want it that way

That's an interesting point, I remember there being multiple bodies in suits in the old versus xiii trailer (on the stairs facing down right when Noct comes out observing). They didn't match the armor of the soldiers Noct proceeds to kill. Maybe they were his men?

I just realized Episode Duscae release one year ago from today. Man does time fly. One of my most enjoyable gaming moments from last year. I would rank the demo higher than some games in my GOTY list.

I shed a couple of tears after staring at the ED menu for 20 minutes, i am scared of what the full game (hell, or even the uncovered event) will do to me.

Yeah, sometimes I think they listen to their fans too much that they forget what they are making: a franchise that sets standards, not meets standards.
A vast majority of this game has been done without any feedback from fans. Like, 99,9% majority of this game. That they've taken some pointers from fans about how they'd prefer to play this game is just a good thing. Besides, it doesn't matter what the second combat mode thing is. We still have the full-on action mode and that's what should matter for at least enthusiast gamers like us who will probably not touch the "easy" mode (other than to see what it's about, maybe).

Isn't the demo about a year old now?

Perception of this game has been a roller coaster since then.

Bazillion percent sure she's joining the party.

Bye-bye, Prompto!

Fixed that for you. ;)

I don't understand the dismay some have with Ford coming back. It's not like Mad Max where youth and physicality are more essential characteristics.

First time notice the cleavage window of Beatrix, she just can't stop getting better.

Actually I'm in the camp that think FFXV doesn't feel like old FFs, especially those under Mr Sakaguchi's supervise. This game hasn't given me anything that makes me feel the same way as FFVI, FFVII, FFIX. However, I appreciate it as what it is, just like FFXII. FFXII doesn't feel like a FF game for me, but it ends up being one of my favorite games of all time.

For me it feels like a Final Fantasy spinoff. It should really have Final Fantasy name but not numbered. Think it has to do with it being an action rpg and not turn based.

You know what would be an emotional ending? If all his buddies sacrifice themselves to save him.

If all his buddies have to fight against him to save the world!
Or you have to fight your buddies to save the world.
Or fight Luna like in the old trailers.
Just watching characters die is not enough for me, I need to kill them by myself. That's an impact.

Private Ryan style eh? I could see that happening.

Less than 2 weeks people! When exactly will we get a dedicated thread to the Uncovered event?

Watch no one die.

But didn't Tabata say that he actually wants people to cry at the end of the game because of all the time we're gonna invest while playing the game?

If that doesn't equals somebody is gonna die then....

Then again, I did come close to crying in FF X HD because of how strained Titus relationship was with his father reminded me of my own relationship with my father.

Regis gets run over by wildebeests while trying to save Stella.

FTFY

Crying and being emotional doesn't necessarily mean death or sadness. It very well could be but there are a lot of different emotions that can cause you to cry. He just wants people to have an emotional connection to the game and thus have emotions at the end of the game whether it is happy or sad.
