Rumor: Incognito's next PS3 game is Hardware 2

industrian said:
Whilst we're on the subject of SCEJ, how about a sequel to Omega Boost?

Rollcage was excellent. If a sequel/remake was made with Wipeout HD's production values, I'd be all over it.
Naaah, no Omega Boost. It wasn't bad...but with all the money today (for a game) they should create a new IP or resurrect a VERY GOOD one (like Legend of Dragoon, Alundra, Extermination).
Polyphony Digital made Omega Boost. And PD wants to make a RPG. So I hope we will see a RPG from PD after/before GT5

Umm.....this is kinda weird since Incognito technically disbanded. Allot of people left during and after Warhawk development, with some joining Eat Sleep & Play others taken into SCEA.

Basically the last report stated that Incognito was down to 6 people when Warhawk launched, I thought the company would officially die when support for Warhawk ends. I thought Sony even stated this at one point?

No. They have talked about making a new game for months.

You can look at it as the next gen Carmageddon meets Twisted metal

C...C...Carmageddon???!?!?! One of my fav games of all time and the best "car-combat" game of all time Carmageddon?

Interest in shitty sites rumour rising!

So this Hardware game, was it all car combat or could you fight on foot as well?

Also, Carmageddon (2 was my favorite) was fucking amazing.

People need to settle on calling for a ban on it. All we have to do is wait until next saturday then we can ban it if it's fake.

Hey guys. StalkingSilence is part of the crew. he's on GAF as well. let's PM why that shit site likes to spread nothing but rumors :lol

Herro?

OK guys - I am reading through the comments on this thread. I'm gettin to them slowly. You can post or PM me complaints and I'll try to get them to the guy who runs the site (Sev1512@playstationlifestyle.net).

All I want to chime in with is as far as I know (unless I am getting supremely dicked over), none of us make any money off of PlayStation LifeStyle. You will notice it isn't ad-supported and hits mean nothing. I was asked to post my weekly content threads (much like Tanod does here). And I have a few (far less than most of you probably) friends at Sony/in the industry. So that's what I do at PSLS. We have been provided info from people to reveal on the site in the past.

As for the Hardware (concept name) haha situation, the guy "AfterLife" is a new member to the site. Actually, I'm not going to defend anything b/c I have a full-time job and just help out on the site for fun [this is supposed to be fun, right?]. But I recommend getting your ducks in a row and making sure you know that the site is the product of SEVERAL contributors. Check out my threads over there and my contributions to tanod's thread here. I just am into PS3 news and PSLS is a venue to present that information/research.

EDIT: Here's the thread I keep up at the official PlayStation.com forums that is similar to Tanod's, so you know I'm not just making this up - http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psnetwork&message.id=205031

Dude seriously they should just make a new Twisted Metal instead.

This.

Even if this pans out to be true, why would they not release a game like TM instead? I, like many people here, have never heard of Hardware. TM would get people pumped and excited.

This is MEH

I am not 100% sure on this, but I think SCEE and SCEA were never making an announcement regarding a new exclusive. It was a date tentatively set by the new contributor with the info on the Hardware game. That is to say, PlayStation LifeStyle was going to make the announcement on August 3. I think the new contributor ended up bringing the info sooner because he realized how much hype it was generating.

I am pretty sure that the rest of the crew at PSLS checked info with SCEA first (please don't quote me on this) and they try to be spot on. I'm not really involved in many admin conversations or the day-to-day operation of the site. I just stop by from time to time to bring info.

I assure you (not that it means anything to you GAFers), that the other guys on the site are all good guys and mean well.

Wasn't there a hidden message in Twisted Metal Head On: Extra Twisted Edition that said "TWISTEDMETALPS3" or something similar? I was totally expecting to hear something at E3. At least an all CGI trailer like the other new games haha

Jaffe's EatSleepPlay is working on a new TM.

Like I said before, my main reason for doubting this game is that it would likely be competing with TM. From the sounds of it.

Of course, I'm all for a giant resurrection of the genre with two games.

So basically Incognito still exists? Have they hired on new staff?

They definitely exist. The warhawk devs have hinted at a new game for a while. Most recently (a couple of weeks ago) they said they are saving significant engine improvements for their new game they are currently working on, rather than patch in to Warhawk.

Firewire said:
Well that's good to know, I always liked Incognito, hope they make a Warhawk 2!

isn't Warhawk one of best selling PS3 games ? and the game already work on fantastic engine ?

it will be crazy if they didn't make a sequel ( with single player mode ) but hey , Gaffers with PS3s do not want anymore shooters , they want JRPG and games with J-RPG element that they will never ever buy .

There is also speculation that the upcoming expansion pack (unnanounced) will be the last and also will bring the trophy total to 60, which is a nice round total number. So then they will likely start focusing more on a new game, perhaps Warhawk 2, to do a proper sequel, rather than these somewhat disjointed addons (which somewhat fragment the player base since the new vehicles cannot be on the same maps together).

Warhawk single player, please.

I would be interested to see an AI implementation in Warhawk...

Although, I just cannot imagine an AI that could compete in anyway with an experienced player in a warhawk...

Why is he trying to impress us with large numbers? 50 vs 50 is a cluster fuck unless there is some order to how things are played out (like 8-player squads in MAG, and separate squads in Resistance 2 with their own objectives).

I even find Warhawk's 20v20 incredibly un-fun because I never feel part of a team.

You will find a ton of teamwork on the expert servers...

Find good people to play with. When it works right, it is a thing of beauty. When I first got the game, I played some games with Manky and Carlos and some of the other great players and it is amazing how much fun can be had. 100 player matches has potential to be even cooler. It really depends on if you can get a decent group of people together.

When I played the game heavily, I used to work in a 3-man squad. Me and two stoners, I met online, developed some good communication and played Zones and CTF together. Sometimes in the same vehicle, sometimes radioing one-another for support on various missions. We even developed roles. I started off doing mostly piloting and then kamikaze assaults, since I was garbage on foot. Then once I got good in a tank, we started doing tank convoy missions. MAG and R2 have it right, so I expect future games to use that same model. PEACE.

Get in a clan, seriously.

Also ppls have to deal with the fact as more of these online games get more ambitious, developers are gonna have more than 50+ ppls in their games in the future(which can scale down too) so stop complaining.

Also I'd rather Incog. to make Warhawk 2 damnit!

...Or a well-organized clan team, like this rumor also purports the game would support.

Its all about finding a small team/squad. Especially in Warhawk, if you only get 1-2 people to work with you, then its one of the best online experiences. You can control the whole game if you are good in a jeep or tank and have a good pilot covering you.

They cant force you to work together if theres a limit of 4, 8 or 1000 players per side, but if there is a massive battlefield and a lot of potential teammates, you are much more likely to find someone who will work with you, and its a far more immersive realistic experience.

WarHawk support 20 vs 20.? wasn't the max player count 32 player.?

Wait... I thought Dylan Jobe and his team left Incognito (and Utah) and went to California, setting up shop in Sony Santa Monica. They are continuing on the updates and patchs for WarHawk and developing (or thinking about) a new project.

Incognito has continued and been working on something since Jobe and Co. left. The general noises are that either...

A) Incgonito was helping Jaffe and his new studio (as they are apparently quite a small team) develop the new Twisted Metal game for PS3.

B) Jaffe's Eat.Sleep.Play are developing a 'proper' sequel to Twisted Metal which will be released on Blu Ray while Incognito are developing a PSN, multi player only Twisted Metal much like Wipeout HD in the meantime.

Not sure about this Hardware rumour or even the apparent fact that this tiny blog will have the worldwide scoop on such a game but it is interesting that all rumours coming out of Incognito Ent. (which I'm told is still very much alive) seem to be regarding a vehicular combat game.

Time will tell I suppose.

That game's being done by Eat Sleep Play, not the team members that were from Incog that were folded into San Diego studios.

Haha ok ok.
Sorry to resurrect this conversation, but for anyone who cares - I brought all of your complaints to the head of the site and he's making appropriate changes / disciplinary actions. Hopefully over time you'll see that the [adjusted] crew over at PS LifeStyle actually wants to bring new, original content. Meh - anyway, your words haven't fallen on deaf ears. Major adjustments are being made and I hope you all find the site more credible in the future.

I can't believe it's already Monday again.

Are you really confused by what I said or you just don't care about what I have to say? I have a horrible eye for sarcasm when it's written down.

Anyway, if you really want - PM me and I'll provide you with more details.

PlayStation LifeStyle was going down the tubes quickly and hopefully in the next several days, you'll see* some major improvements in the elimination of baseless insider rumors and NDA-breaking.

*Note: You probably won't see a difference b/c most of you already don't like the site and won't visit it. But for those that do, maybe you will.

Take it easy guys and have a nice week.

Oh, and can we please ban playstationlifestyle? It's a horrible site.

I think that's fair. Just maybe in the future if you we do improve, you all will re-consider.

In the past (up until about 2 weeks ago), the info there was pretty accurate and corroborated. I put a lot of work into my posts there. But again, I understand that people have been burned by the site.

This week I'm hoping to put up some actual original content as opposed to rumors, including interviews with SCEA's Jeff Rubenstein, with DoubleSix Games (read: unannounced PSN games Burn Zombie, Burn! and Undertow), etc.
I know they probably aren't earth-shattering and many of you have contacts in the industry, but I tried to advise the head of the site and I think PSLS is making steps in the right direction.

This seemed like good news to me, then again - I'm sure nothing would make you all happier than to see PlayStation LifeStyle fail completely and drop off the map.

DMPrince said:
the next time they put up a rumor it's actually something we care about.

Nice - well if you could give me specific advice, I'd appreciate it. Just PM me or post back here.

*MOST* of all my posts there (very few) are original contributions, based out of my own research. Now looking back at them, it may look like I copied the stories from other sites, because other sites then reported the news based off of ours. But I assure you for several, I wrote the original:
http://playstationlifestyle.net/author/stalkingsilence/

If you think those suck - then I probably should give up man. I just try hard to add something to the community: http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psnetwork&message.id=205031

What game so far on next gen systems is a game like twisted metal?????

While I agree with your sentiments, I think a lot of the hate is directed toward the website and not the game. To me, a game engine as described (in broken English) on the site would be pretty solid and the "BIG" news was the studios working on it. Now though, the studios are pissed so I'm interested to see if the people who make decisions at PSLS will still release the screenshots from Incognito. Everyone wants to see the screenshots. So now either anger disbelievers of the site or anger the developers who make the games being released (surround which most other gaming blogs presumably have NDAs).

But yeah - deejay, I will play this game. I'm pretty sure others will too.
