I still don't get why. Retro made three Prime games and once Rare left Nintendo, Donkey Kong stopped having really good games. You can say Jungle Beat was fun (it was) but it was planned to phase out the entire Kong family. To me, that's Other M levels of bad.
My guess is the kids that grew up with Prime are adults now, and they also grew up when DK was out of his prime.
The hype for that conference was huge. Rumors of a Star Tropics reboot were getting people hyped. It wasn't just metroid that everyone wanted, they wanted to see the Wii U get pushed by its more technically inclined dev.
