First off, that is a pretty stereotypical view of things. Some people are doing just fine, myself included. And who said it has anything to do with "saving up for the console?" You jumped to that conclusion, which makes sense considering your view that all Americans are on the verge of financial collapse.
It has nothing to do with the fact I am saving up to purchase it and everything to do with the fact I just prefer to have it paid for in full.
I do not want to have close to $1000 being put on my credit card (I am picking up both consoles) around the holiday season when I will be spending money on other things like gifts, etc. already since it is the holiday season, as then perhaps I will have a larger credit card bill that may take a month or two to pay off, and I am then paying interest on that debt when there is zero reason to do so since I can afford the consoles outright right now. So I prefer to pay for it now and get it out of the way as that is actually the smartest move financially to do. It is actually so I continue to have no debt whatsoever, even if we are only talking a few thousand dollars, I prefer to have zero if at all possible. Has nothing at all to do with saving up.
