Rumor: Universal Building Third Park Based On Games. (Including: Nintendo + Blizzard)

You're talking about the IoA land right? I'm talking about Daigon Alley. They actively looked to fix the exposed show building problem.

He's talking about Alien Encounter. Before it was neutered for Stitch.

Ah. I think it was originally supposed to be based on Alien, but they went with original stuff instead.

The Gringotts show building is visible from outside of Diagon Alley (Springfield/MiB area), but not while from the queue, though you can see the King's Cross building from the extended queue. Doesn't really bother me, but whatever.

Yeah I was talking about Forbidden Journey.

I thought it was what is now the Stich ride?

Alien Encounter was sadly changed to Stich. But there is still an Alien (as in, based on the movie Alien) portion in the Great Movie Ride at Disney Hollywood Studios.

And Big Thunder

DL's Big Thunder may be my favorite ride in a castle park after it's recent refurb.

That's saying a LOT considering it's competition.

The ending is indeed dynamite! Fortunately, it sounds like Paris--and rumor has it DW--are both getting those additions too.

Even just painting it brown would do wonders. Just look at USH's...way better than white.

I totally agree! I don't know what they were thinking with that white color, which also plagues the Japan one. Brown is so much better.

Sounds awesome. I have a lot of good memories of universal theme park, especially islands of adventure, and I'd definitely love a video game themed park, especially with Nintendo as one of the core pillars. I also think video games could lend to a lot of unique attractions

I think a video game based ride akin to the great movie ride at Disney would be a cool idea. Imagine going through a shadow moses island set with a snake animatronic.

F-Zero rollercoaster
Splatoon paintball arena
Mario Mushroom Kingdom plaza
Mario Haunted house
Bowsers Castle rollercoaster
Pokemon safari ride
Bayonetta 18 rated lap dance bar... Heaven and hell

You're welcome...

As an annual pass holder i would prefer them to bolster their original park. Bring in Nintendo to revatalize that park which feels pretty aged in numerous areas.
Thats just me anyway.

There is sooo much dated crap in both parks its seems pointless to move forward with a third.

I want a replica of Peach's castle from SM64, at least the exterior. Interior can be some sort of virtual ride where you follow Mario and Luigi around Mushroom Kingdom.

Worried theyll take the route of 3d rides like the simpsons, harry potter. That shit makes me nauseous.

Nothing is cooler than eating a krusty burger w/ a duff beer while at Moes

Me too!

I think you'll be happy...this third gate stuff is nonsense imo. Nintendo is going in USF's Kidzone, and it'll be fantastic.

Eh I was never a big fan of the Universal, Disney, etc parks. Very expensive what is it $150 for a day? And only a few rides I like.

Various Six Flags, Hershey Park, Cedar Point, Kings Dominion/Island, Busch Gardens, etc are where its at.

It is cool they are doing video game themed stuff.

Cannot wait for Dr. Kawashima's Devilish Brain Volcano and the Wii Music Opera.

You joke, but Dr. Kawashima's Devilish Brain Volcano sounds rad. It could be a surreal Willy Wonka boat ride experience with you spiraling into the volcano with numbers and images passing you by on the walls.

There better be a Luigi's Mansion themed ghost house.

I also want to see some Sega rides... shame they are so irrelevant these days. :(

A paintball area based on Inkopolis in Splatoon. Shops and stores, entrance way for a paintball game.

A Pokemon park area with life sized statues of Pokemon, set up like a zoo/safari zone area where you can take pics with a giant camera and get them printed/win prizes.

Nintendoland working out in any sort of capacity.

Just spent last weekend in the Loews Portofino hotel with my girlfriend to celebrate her birthday! We're both Floridians and annual passholders, so we make the trip to Orlando roughly twice a month.

Regarding a third park, I agree with those who would rather see the first two revised and expanded. Toon Land is so outdated, and I honestly think the forever-90s-set-in-stone Marvel area should get a remodel to represent some newer IP. The Disney-Marvel connection is bound to make Universal's themed area look ridiculous within the decade.

I really doubt they can remodel the marvel stuff with Disney owning the ip, but they aren't likely to drop that regardless

Yeah, they're basically holding Disney by the balls with Superhero Island at this point. They're not going to give it up and as long as they have the characters in their park, Disney can't monetize on them in WDW's parks. Making a third park actually makes a lot of sense in that case so they can keep cuckolding them.

Aw snap! Did you get the $144/night deal for the Portofino? That shit's crazy.

Rumors are heavily suggesting that Superhero Island is going to receive an overhaul to bring it more in line with the MCU. Permits have already been filed for work on Hulk's queue, and the overall refurbishment plan is said to be significant (new queue, new trains, retracking, etc).

My ideal scenario: Nintendo takes over Kidzone in USF, and Warcraft/Blizzard takes over Toon Lagoon in IoA. Everyone wins.

According to the contract, Universal can do whatever they like with the area as long as the changes continue to accurately represent the IP. While Disney/Marvel technically has to approve all additions, they must do so on "reasonable" grounds. Saying "You can't build an Avengers ride because we don't like you" wouldn't be considered reasonable, for example.

Universal would be better off getting rid of some of its own stuff in the park if they intend to bring in Nintendo and Warcraft as heavily as this implies. Keep the iconic things and get rid of garbage that is kept around because its universal. Update the Jurassic Park area,Have the impressive Potter area and then consider everything else that isn't iconic expendable

Are they allowed to build based on the movies or just the comics? They had no movies when the initial contract was signed.

Anything, as long as the characters are accurately represented and Disney/Marvel doesn't have a legitimate reason to block it (the move would damage the brand, etc).

Yeah, as soon as I got the email with the offer, I booked the room.

I had no idea that Universal's contract allowed them to update any aesthetics that are Marvel related - that's pretty exciting!

I highly doubt they would make a completely new park just for a couple of publishing companies. They'd probably need a lot more to even begin to think about dropping that amount of money on a new park.
If it's a "Videogame Land," with the big 3 publishers, or at least 2 of 3, plus many smaller pubs, then maybe. But as it stands now, no way.

Besides that, where would they put it? No way the existing site could support a completely new park. Especially given the scarce land Universal has, has already been earmarked and now under construction for another resort hotel and a water park to replace Wet N' Wild. I think at best the KidZone in Universal gets blown up to make way for a videogame section, which would then include Nintendo and Blizzard properties.

Unless.... they use the old Wet N' Wild site to build something. But that would still necessitate a more diverse range of publishers to justify a full on park.
