Rumoured April Playstation Plus (Europe) content

Another shit month, thanks SCEE.

Smart of them to put online multiplayer behind PS+ paywall, because i would have cancelled my sub by now.

I don't understand the problem here. I've been a day 1 PSPLUS member, and it's the best it's ever been right now. I wanted to buy Resogun - free. I wanted to buy Dead Nation - free. I wanted to buy Outlast - free. I want to buy Mercenary Kings - free.

If you want Sony to die financially, request Killzone, or Infamous. Killzone 1, 2 and 3 were never free on PS3, nor is the Vita entry currently. Why assume the most current, and (currently) selling entry would become free? It makes zero sense for them. You wanna play Killzone, go buy it, its 30$

NBA came out 5 months ago, LEGO Marvel around 2-3 months ago and same goes for Putty Squad. You really expect those?

NBA and LEGO were launch titles, Putty Squad came out in December. Not impossible. Anyhow it's not like Sony was surprised by the release the PS4, they could've mapped out a better roadmap ahead of release. Like a Puppeteer PS4 port or something along these lines.

I'm not complaining about the PS4 part though, Resogun, Contrast and Don't Starve were great for my taste. They're just not "full AAA retail experiences" people may have expected, unreasonable or not.

Hotline Miami on Vita is great. Sly as well. Vita is really hot at the moment with FFX HD too.
Knack or Thief in the next couple of months on PS4 would be nice.

Sly 4, huh? I was never interested in the Sly Cooper series before, but I watched a stream of the HD edition of Sly 2 (or 3, the one with the tiger bad guy and spices and shit) and that looked cool, in a furry stealth platformer sort of way. I'll give the PS3 game a shot, if only to see if it does stealth any better than MGS4 does.
No shit it does it better than Thi4f does.

No interest in sports games whatsoever, so I'll pass on PES. Heh.

Hotline Miami is a cool choice for Vita. I'm really starting to warm to the Sony Handheld That Almost Could, But Never Really Stood A Chance, it's got some cool stuff on it, and sooner or later, it's all gonna be free*. Ah, good ol' competition, eh?

Mercenary Kings I've heard disappointing things about (poor level design, too much emphasis on crafting), but I'll stack it up in my collection anyway for when I eventually get a PS4. I shouldn't need any pack-in games by that point.

As for all you PS4 whingers, calm the fuck down. Damn thing's only been out three months.

It's very unreasonable to expect 6 month old games to appear on the service. And even if Sony did release that Puppeteer port like you suggested, again it would have been only 6 month old at this stage. Who would then ever buy the games when they were given out for free so soon.

Sony said that they'll be giving away one indie game per month for the PS4 initially. They kept to their promise. The only thing they promised and didn't deliver was Driveclub PS Plus edition.

Dafuq is wrong with you people? March was an amazing month, and although I'm not particularly interested in this month's rumoured content, it's still a good month. You people are becoming greedy, honestly.

Last month we had Tomb Raider, Brothers, and Dead Nation. And you guys are saying that PS+ is getting worse every month?

oh my fucking lol!

Alienous can't even name one single 'middle ground' game when he's actually given a list to pick from. The guy is worse than Sony.

Can't believe I just bought hotline lol

Never mind, looking forward to Sly if it's for vita too.

So much entitlement in this thread it's laughable. If you never ever buy games then every month would be utterly amazing. Most of us buy games however so there are all ways going to be "bad" months if you own those games.

Because of the PS4 offerings so far I have discovered the whole world of indie games and even bought a vita off the back of it. Last couple of nights I have been itching to play steamworld dig more than infamous.

Long may the free Indies continue on PS4

Putty was a launch title here in the EU, which I guess is as good as December seen as it launched 29th November!

Either way it was rubbish. What we've had so far on PS4 beats it.

4 months isn't long. But I agree though, LEGO will be a shoe-in given we've already got two titles and The Hobbit on the way soon. Would be my bet for the first 'major' third party title.

Oh, stop with that fucking entitlement bullshit.

I'm paying for this. They didn't say "we might not have games" like your supposition states, they said that PS Plus consists of new games on each console free every month. And they are putting the bare minimum effort in on PS4, every month. "Hey, here's your free indie game. Oh, we set the standard for more on the PS3 and the PS4 launch? Unsubscribe then... oh wait, you want to play online? Then take the free indie game, it isn't like we have to secure your purchase".

I wouldn't be paying for this if I could play online without subscribing. That's different to 6 months ago where it provided consistent value on the PS3 and Vita.

Where did I say they said "we might not have games"? I specifically said that they did promise games. The only AAA game they promised at launch was DriveClub which, in case you hadn't noticed, hasn't been released yet.

Of course they set a standard for more and better games on PS3. There's more fucking games to choose from. Are you that dense?

I answered that. I'm not referring to a ' middle ground' game. I'm referring to a middle ground between the AAA relatively recent titles (Killzone, for instance) and getting a solitary indie game every month.

For instance, getting more than one indie game a month, like we did for the first month of PS4 PS Plus.

Let's not insult each other.

Hitman Absolution was released in November 2012 and was part of the May 2013 PS+ update in the EU. And unlike the games I'd suggested Hitman was actually an "AAA" title. Also, Puppeteer was just one example that came to mind. Ni No Kuni PS4 could've been another PS Plus title that's likely rather easy to port to PS4 and was a retail title.

It sounds a lot better when you're hearing it as you throw a gun at a guy to knock him out, snap his neck, burst through a door to knock out his friend, steal his crowbar, bash him to death with it, pick up an Uzi and shoot the guy over the side of the room...

The game turns you into a psycho, you're gonna love it!

I can't wait!! >:D

Wait, someone would REALLY prefer one of the worst basketball games of all time over Mercenary Kings just because it's a disk release?

Mercenary Kings for PS4 would be great and is very probable after the Asia PS+ announcement. Already got PES 2014 and prefer Fifa 14 anyway. Same with Sly and Hotline Miami, which I already played. Don't think Moto GP will be my type of racer but why not?

Overall, the update is ok for me.

It's sad how people treat indies. Like they'd rather get random retail shovelware than a good indie game.

Exactly. They've given us solid indie games that cost half as much as most retail games do at launch. I really don't understand the complaints.

I can only imagine that the people here bemoaning the current state of PS+ are 14 years old with no income of their own. I still find it to be tremendous value.

For instance, getting more than one indie game a month, like we did for the first month of PS4 PS Plus.
You know we only got 2 indie games in the first month because we were supposed to get DriveClub, right? Sony had to manage the disappointment when the release date was pushed back.

It's sad how people treat indies. Like they'd rather get random retail shovelware than a good indie game.

I think (hope) that the issue is more the narrow appeal of some indies. So they tend to be more hit and miss for the general audience. Some of you will love title X, some will hate it. Whereas with an older AAA title, people might be ok with it simply for the implied value it has, even if they aren't that interested in playing it.

personally I'm fine with indie titles that don't directly appeal to me. Means I'm trying new things and might discover something I'd have otherwise skipped.

There are too many people in PS+ now (they are ruining it, and we had such a good run of games). We need PS++. :p

Sony were actually considering PS+ tiers before PS4 launched, so you never know what they're up to, E3 should answer some questions

I'm happy with this month. I'd always considered Hotline Miami, but now I get it without forking out more cash. Plus of course if I like it I'd be more inclined to buy the sequel, which is probably why they're putting it in the IGC now.

While I don't consider this game shovelware, I was really surprised to see someone in another thread upset that Sony was giving us Mercenary Kings instead of Knack.

Man, you don't "get" the Knack appeal. I wish there was a female Knack in the game,
for some reason that's all I kept thinking when watching other people play it. Could have
been hot.

Couldn't they give Warhawk or even Twisted Metal? I'd like to have the MGS HD Collection for Vita too.

MGS HD has already been given away for EU.

I love the indie hate over here on this thread. So ridiculous. Don't Starve and Outlast are games infinitely better than AAA crap like Thief or CoD

It seems that some people took my post as serious. Let's have a run-through of what we've been "given", shall we:

  • Resogun - Best game on the console!
  • Contrast - Decent platformer with a good story
  • Don't Starve - Good survival-crafting game
  • Outlast - Good enough horror-romp
    Nano-machines?!
  • Dead Nation - Decent twin-stick zombie shooter
  • Mercenary Kings (?) - Let's see but it points toward really good

All-in-all I'd say we've been lucky. While not triple-A they're certainly less bland and more varied. I'd rather play these than Battlefield 4 or Need for Speed: Rivals. Content has so far been great according to me. I hope they keep it up. Second year of PS4 will be even greater. My guess is that it'll be an indie and a big game every month.

It's sad how people treat indies. Like they'd rather get random retail shovelware than a good indie game.
I think it's because of the price difference, and the fact that most indie games come without boxes. To some people, this whole "indie" label, and the (lack of) trappings that go with it, suggests to them that the game, while not worthless, is still "worth less" than a full AAA retail boxed spectacular, even if it is objectively better as a game or a product. It's sad.

Pretty excited about Sly. Sounds like a game I'd enjoy. Never expected PES to show up on PS+ though. I'll play a couple of games.

Again you're not making sense. This would be a port of a game that Sony would have to pay for just to it'd be released at launch or a bit later and then given out for free? Where is Sony making money in all of this?

I give you the hitman example, but unfortunately last fall no such title was actually launched on the ps4. We only really got the super big franchises like Cod and Battlefield. Maybe you'll see Knack before the summer but that's a big maybe. Just wait a little bit for the retail exclusives. The console has to build up a library. I guarantee you by November or December we're going to start seeing Tomb Raider, AC4 and others on the service.

I don't understand some people here.

Guys, you still need to buy the games you want to play. Do you remember that?
You can't expect sony or ms to give access to best games available in the system for free. That's not how you make money. Stop fooling yourself.

To me PS+ is about cloud saving and discounts (and now multiplayer on PS4, but I paid before this was a thing). The freebies are just a bonus.

I agree but personally my problem is that the "freebies" are completely missing a whole genre (JRPGs).
