Russo Brother Confirmed to Direct Avengers: Infinity War

This is exactly what I wanted.

Even as someone who likes Whedon a lot, I felt like the Avengers would flip flop between god tier dialogue and everyone being exactly the same, while the Russos managed to make a really compelling character ensemble dynamic work in Winter Soldier.

I was looking forward to this regardless, but this only increases the hype.

That's fine, but somebody who wasn't Whedon did. I'd rather they get the same writer or writers as TWS or nearly anybody other than Whedon or one of his cronies.

Whedon supervised and signed off on the script, and undoubtedly did some uncredited doctoring, as he's done to every MCU film since the first Captain America.

The Russos reportedly did some uncredited work on the WS script too.

Would have preferred whedon or different directors tbh. I'd rather they stay on Cap instead but this is far from bad news.

If Steve dies in Civil War or Infinity War it really pushes the reset button for the franchise and a chance for Bucky to take over with new director. I'm sure the Russos and Chris Elvans have developed a close working relationship so both are going to feel easier about leaving after several goes at the character.

Aw man.

Does this mean that they won't direct that Ghostbusters movie for Sony Pictures that will zzzzzzz...,

This feels like good business for Disney with Sony Pictures once again 'always the bridesmaid and never the bride'.

How doe sit work when there's two. Like, do they have to hire both brothers, do they go with an all or nothing approach?

Anyways, pretty good news. First, we find out JLaw is done after Apocalypse and now this. Good news day for comic book films.

Blowing your load a bit early there aren't you?

Is it wrong that I read this post in Viridi's voice?

If Cap dies in Civil War, he'll be back in IW. It's a lock.

Steve Rogers will stare down Thanos. It's got to happen.

Wait, what? Source!

I'm a bit surprised Marvel wants Markus & McFeely to write instead of Joss. Still, awesome that the Russos will be involved in Infinity War.

Am I the only one thinking that Russo Brother is a brandname for ghost directors? They have so many big projects that they intend on directing within a short time frame. I am such a pessimist, heh.

By then I'll be balls deep in the final year of my Masters degree, or I'll be a total failure..

Great directors. Less excited about the prospect of Marcus and McFeely writing the screenplay but I guess if Whedon really is burnt out then nothing would get him to do it.

They did an amazing job with Winter Soldier, hope that continues with their future projects. Joss Whedon did a phenomenal job with Avengers and I am sure we will not be disappointed with Age of Ultron.

Does anyone know why Whedon stepped aside?

I think it's because it was too much to do these movies and AOU was already so big for him. I would have loved him to do Avengers 3 so I'm a little disappointed but Russo's should be good replacements.

He can make any movie he wants now. A movie without having to consult a studio like Marvel about everything he wants to do with the characters has to be why every filmmaker gets into the business. After Angel ended Whedon said he was leaving TV because the culture had become so toxic with reality TV and corporate involvement. So he did independent stuff like Dr horrible and Much Ado About Nothing and an incredible run on Astonishing X-Men.

He made a movie that made the studio tons of cash. He could make a movie about pocket lint if he really believed in it.
