Please, can we get a DC-Marvel Movie/TV Universe OT?

I can't figure out what is going on, timelines, what is connected.

Not just the movies, but arrow, flash, agent carter, aqua man, ant man, and now everyone talks about daredevil. Then there is superman vs batman and all them others. And what about the x-men/fantastic four? There is so much I cant keep up.

I would love someone to explain how to watch it in the right order, what to avoid, what can be skipped.

Elektra was on TV some days ago and it was not good. I had no idea how it fit with everything.

So...if all you care about is the stuff that has TV shows or movies, ignore basically everything made before 2008.

Right, but some things are there own universe. Like Spider-Man is not part of DC? X-Men is not part of Marvels Universe?

The Green Lantern? Hulk? Wonder Woman?

I can't keep up mate.. its just too much. More cap america, more thor, more guardians of the galaxy.

I've never heard, seen or thought Marvel/DC would take it so far. This is going to be one hell of a boxset when all these films are made!

The MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and the DCCU (DC Cinematic Universe) have their own OT in the Community side, if you want to check them out.

Basically, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is all the movie that Marvel Studios/Disney have released starting with Iron Man. They all take place in the same universe

Iron Man
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Thor
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Avengers
Iron Man 3
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
The Avengers: Age of Ultron
(more yet to be released)
Plus the TV shows: Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter and Daredevil

Anything NOT on that list is not in the MCU. Movies and TV shows are all in the same canon. Now, Fox also owns the rights to some Marvel franchises, namely The Fantastic Four and X-Men. Even though these are Marvel properties, they are NOT in the same universe as Iron Man and the Avengers. Also any Marvel movie that came out before Iron Man (Daredevil, Elektra) does not count.

Previously, Sony held the rights to Spider-Man, Marvel's flagship series. Technically, they still do. Spider-Man 1-3 are all separate from the reboots Amazing Spider-Man 1-2. However, Sony recently reached a deal with Marvel to produce ANOTHER reboot of the Spider-Man series, this time produced by Marvel Studios, taking place within the MCU. So the previous Spider-Man movies, like the old Daredevil and Elektra and Ghost Rider movies don't matter to the current Marvel movie canon.

On the DC side, the only movie currently released in the DCCU is Man of Steel. This will be joined by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and others. Anything made before Man of Steel (like 2008's Green Lantern) is not canon to this new DCCU. Their TV properties are not connected to anything their movies are doing. Nothing. And most of the time, their TV properties aren't even connected to each other. Arrow and Flash take place in the same universe because they're on the same network, but those are not connected to Constantine or Gotham. I don't know if Supergirl on CBS is going to join up with them, I think the jury is still out on that. Basically the Green Arrow and the Flash in the TV shows will not be the same ones showing up in the movies because they are entirely separate. However, DC doesn't have the same rights issues as Marvel does, so all their future movies are connected to the DCCU. Except the animated ones.

I know it's confusing. On the Marvel side it's confusing because of rights issues, on the DC side it's confusing because the TV and Movies divisions are totally separate

If you want a full breakdown of what properties are included in each list, you can check the following pages:

They were never showrunners. They were writers (who got noticed for their paintball episodes early on) and producers

Yeah you're right. Got them confused with the two they hired for that season. Still, writers of Community and comedy directors to big budget action film directors is pretty crazy. Maybe Peyton Reed is next.

And to make it a bit more confusing to casuals, the upcoming animation in Vixen is part of the Flash/Arrow/Legends universe as well.

Can you imagine if there's a secret deal behind the scenes that Fox and Marvel could find an agreement and make DEADPOOL part of the MCU.

He absolutely doesn't fit in their X-men/Fantastic Four universe (tone is totally off). But boy oh boy, would that be something.

I did not know until know how much I want this. And it's never going to happen...ugh

The DC universe is Man of Steel, batman V Superman, and every movie from now on, their TV shows are separate.

Marvel is everything after 2008 except for Fantastic Four, X-men and the Amazing spiderman series. That includes every TV show.
