This is the one game I'm most torn on whether or not to pre-order. I love the setting and visuals, and if the story is good I might be able to overlook the QTE combat. Or not, because I really hate QTEs.
Well for starters it's 900p. The main character has his poly count almost halved. That's two reasons I was expecting 60fps. But then I wasn't interested before anyway because it's Crytek who haven't made a good game since the first half of the original Crysis.
Locked 30fps is good news, not bad news.

Every Xbox One game thread is a sea of crap now with all the negativity. I hope the game is a blast to play. I'm definitely looking forward to a demo of it. It's not on my must buy list, but it's on the consideration list.

In all fairness, when it comes to actual gameplay visuals, the game does look better than pretty much anything else we've seen and it's still a launch title.

Yet you post in a thread for a game you "had no interest in before anyway" go figure, also cut the bullshit there was never any indication of this game being 60 fps at any point.
Unlike the past, polycount isn't everything, in fact it's pretty low on the list of important things when it comes to creating a virtual world. They probably halved it because it didn't really justified it because you can half the count and have the result look almost the same. Also it doesn't make sense to expect it to be 60FPS just because it halved the main character's polycount. Beside what's the current poly count like? 70k ? That's quite a lot for an action game.
The had a choice either to halve the polygon and get better shaders+no lod for Marius. If they kept Marius at 150k he would have lod and wouldn't look as good as he currently does.
Don't mind the armor difference, he's not wearing the same one. Also I'm kind of surprised nobody has mentioned the low-polygon catapult stone has been fixed, i remember some people complained about that.

So locked at 30 means 30 all the time, and capped at 30 means it could be variable up to 30 but never above it? If so, locked 30 is a damn good thing and I hope Killzone can manage it as well.

Personally, I don't Killzone necessarily needs it, because what they're trying to do with that game is so much more ambitious compared to previous games that you have to expect that there will be times where you maybe notice some minor drops. Framerate dips after 24 AI doesn't have to mean major framerate drops that are sustained. They could simply just be blips in an otherwise very smooth experience.
I personally doubt that there won't be some moments in Ryse where fps dips also, but the fact that, for a big part of the experience, framerate shouldn't be an issue at all is very welcome news, and something that I hope remains true.
Also, new footage of this game is coming in the first week of November, focused on story and combat, with new gameplay.

They visited Crytek recently.

I'm not really sure tbh.Did they remove LOD only from Marius model or from all the models? Because just removing it from Marius won't make any difference.
Also If the gameplay is like this, then we have a game that seriously competes with Quantum Break and The Order: 1886 in graphics.

So they're supposed to show some new gameplay of Ryse this week?

What's the story with no helm in the newer shoot above? Is it removable or just not in that scene now?

Still, people take their 60fps seriously, I guess, but anybody could have looked at this one and know it wasn't going to be 60fps.
