It isn't. Clue: look at the resolution.
The last trailer was all at 1080p, and the gameplay footage in it was indeed 1600x900 upscaled to 1080p. However, they use very good AA and lots of post processing, so jaggies are a rare sight, and other than a bit of blurryness it doesn't look low res. Now for the cutscenes, they looked almost aliasing-free for the most part, so maybe they do render them in higher resolution and with even better AA. I tried to find the edge to pixel count cutscene resolution, but gave up :D

Those cherry blossom trees looked pretty awesome in KZ trailer.

The feb demo had 60 npcs according to GG

I haven't seen any scene were Killzone SF showed that many NPCs at the same time.
Look at the skirts/decoration on the helmets ;)
I prefer the vegetation of Ryse over the vegatation in Killzone.
And I would say that the weather effects in Ryse look way better than in Killzone.

Both games look amazing for launch titles.
 
I would say Infamous has equivalent facial modelling and rendering. It's not coming at launch, but it's been shown off enough times. I think it's even more impressive to see it in an open world game like Infamous, but environments are likely to be large in scale in Ryse too, even if it's a more linear, level based experience. Because Crytek.

Jury's still out on that. The fact that all the cutscene footage is so perfectly frame locked in the trailer suggest that it could all be Uncharted-style pre-recorded video.

Cut scene is a cut scene, would GAF rather devs put more effort in gameplay and levels and player animations ....?

Crytek: "Play the cutscene." Whatever that means. Also, infamous is using a different lod system than what ryse is using and delsins cutscene model will most likely not be the same as the in-game model.

Not the kind of cutscenes where characters talk to each other, etc. There was such a cutscene in the E3 trailer where your guy talks to his soldiers, and that ends with a typical one second long black screen before gameplay begins, which reminded me of how Uncharted always handled those kind of cutscenes. Then there was the other one with ship wrecking which was all happening in-game obviously, but it didn't have characters giving speech to others, and looked more like how camera in Gears moves to highlight some oh-shit moment.

Ryse could also have pop ups....

About AC, ubisoft eventually added the sparks. Ac4 has them

you will be surprised,,because i have seen both in person (old builds) and infamous 3 character on screen its the same as cutscenes,when he makes that launch into the sky you can see eveything,way way more impresive than ryse

i dont know why people use ryse close ups when a ps3 game like beyond have almost similar characters,cutscenes doesnt mean shit,even if they are in engine

Ryse could have massive pop-up problems, Ryse could be crashing every 5 minutes, Ryse could be causing overheating of the console, Ryse could....
That's just grasping for straws.

Go and buy Beyond, or play the demo. The game looks amazing.

thats its my question too,cutscenes doesnt mean shit,even in engine,a lot of current gen games have awesome cutscenes or facial animation ( see beyond)

we need to se more ingame,big battles,etc
 
People still trying to downplay Ryse graphics, we're doubting Crytek now? Complaining about 30fps, you're telling me all this time people did'nt know this game was 30fps ? GTFO with that shit. Crytek never once claimed this game was 60fps , stop acting like it being locked at 30 is some kind of new development here.

Sorry, I've played Beyond. It doesn't come remotely close in cut scenes or gameplay to matching what Ryse, or Killzone, has shown.

I was agreeing with what you said until I saw you said that.

You can't knock Beyond's Graphics at all.
If there was ever an argument for resolution not being as important as some people suggest , it's beyond.

Its a real glimpse into the future, hopefully
animation will be better next gen.
 
Sorry, I've played Beyond. It doesn't come remotely close in cut scenes or gameplay to matching what Ryse, or Killzone, has shown.
Of course not for the overall scene, but face closeups look better than in Killzone. I mean there's basically no doubt that expressions animate far better in Beyond, but even the skin shader probably looks better if you ask me.

I think Beyond looks fine for a PS3 title, and it looks great in tiny gifs, but I wouldnt put it up against Ryse or Killzone. I can't argue with you about how the expressions animate though. Beyond is really good at that.

Seriously, people? Seriously? People who work for rival companies and receive a paycheck for their involvement don't dig trenches this deep.

This is the 2nd time I've seen you express this sentiment. Do they just laugh off the forum people or do they take it semi-seriously?

Textures and shit could be identical in cutscenes and gameplay for all I know, but it sure doesn't come off as well in gameplay videos if they are.
 
I am laughing so hard right now at all of the people in this thread trying to say that beyond looks as good as or better than Ryse. My cheeks hurt. My grandmother probably thinks I'm crazy now.

On topic though. Locked 30fps and no screen tearing is great news. Can't wait for that campaign gameplay footage that was promised to come soon.
 
Are things like variable fps and resolution ever a good thing or is it just safer to go with the lower option if you can't reach the high end option?

Animation are good, it's the transitions between them that needs some work. Something that obviously isn't a problem in cutscenes. Also the cutscenes use a different camera angle than the gameplay does, giving it a view from the best possible angles.
